Nothing. Everything the hotel needs a complete over haul. Was not up to Howard Johnson standards. Needs help in all areas.

Outside of motel looks like it had not had any clean-up in weeks. Inside was a little better, but not much. I would not stay at this motel again.

Accessible from interstate. Only have ice machines on two of the five floors. Overall good experience.

This hotel has a slew of problems begining with the unfriendly staff when you check in. The hotel is old and needs a lot of renovation. The room was subpar at best. Not to mention the fact that someone actually tried to get in our room at midnight. Luckily we had the bar on the door or they would have made it in. Obviously the lock didn't work. The location is horrible, getting to and from the hotel is horrible. If this is the only hotel available if we plan another trip to Roanoke we will stay at home.

Staff was not helpful at all. This hotel was fine for a one night quick stay. The rooms were clean which is always a plus. They are remodeling downstairs so there was some mess there but even that is acceptable. What I found intolerable was the staff. I called down the morning I was to check out for extra towels. I was told by the desk staff, housekeeping will get there when they get there. No towels were brought and I had to use the same towels that my son had just used including the washcloth. I was less than impressed with the staff and would not stay there again.

Our room was clean and great for the money--other parts of the hotel needed much improvement in the cleaning dept We will stay here again

Fairly close to airport, shopping center and highway. It needed a makeover, plus breakfast wasn't much. It was adequate, however we had difficulty in finding it. It was a comfortable bed, fairly clean and adequate. Breakfast had limited hot coffee, only dry cereal and toast for breakfast.

Thin walls, noisy ice machines and leaking plumbing.

Nothing. Everything. Our first reason for not enjoying our stay was that we were given a key to a room that was already occupied and no one at the desk even seemed apologetic. We came back later to our room and the key did not work to our room. The elevator was not working properly. We had coffee in our room and no coffee pot and when this was pointed out as we were checking out all that was said was we are sorry.

Dirty. Worn out. Needs major renovation. Our fault for staying though. Should have left when we saw how bad it was. And the 2 computers that were there were taken the entire time by kids. Check out other hotels 1 mile away. That's where we'll be staying next time in Roanoke. The corporate execs at Hojo would never stay in this place, and they shouldn't expect others to stay either. Very disappointing.

Central to the locations, we wanted to visit. If this motel was maintained (mold in bathrooms, dog poop in the halls, guests allowed to let their children run up and down throughout the motel, fouling the pool, smoke detectors not working properly and a 2 a.m. false alarm for a fire) it would be the perfect location for visiting the sights in Roanoke and the surrounding valley. Some of the staff were very nice, others kind of stand offish. The continental breakfast was ok. The availability of computers was a nice and unexpected touch. I really think the owner needs to take control of his building and oust guests who allow their children to throw the furniture into the pool and use it as a spit on and also pet owners that allow their dogs the size of small ponies to poop in the hallway without cleaning up after them. My opinion is this is a motel where the owner is trying to make whatever money he can without doing any maintenance and then just walk away from it.

"Sure, you'd likely go right past the hotel (used to be a Motel 6) I believe, but the PRICE was hard to beat. Also VERY close to the airport. Off of the main road, but worth the effort to get there. Staff was very accomodating, breakfast from 6-9am (coffee, orange-juice/apple juice, fruit, danish, toast, free USA today newspaper). For a simple , low cost place to stay - you can't beat it. "

Cheap and better than camping. Cleanliness of the room. This was definitely not a 2 star hotel. Unfortunately, it was one of the only rooms available the night we were in Roanoke. It wasn't very clean or well kept. It was very run down even for an economy level hotel. Only positive, it was better than camping.

"I'd say the thing I was most impressed with was the computers and internet. They have big, flat screen monitors and high speed internet access free to all guests. They only have 2, but while I was there it wasn't a problem. For a cheaper costing hotel, I was not expecting this and was quite pleased!"
