For the price the hotel was very clean. The bathrooms appeared to be remodeled. The brick wall didn't look great, but it kept the sound down. I was by the elevator and ice machine and I slept soundly.

The bathroom was very tiny. This hotel was very clean. It had a nice lobby and offered a complimentary breakfast of juice, muffins, croissants, tea, coffee and condiments. It also had an elevator, so the room was easy to access. There were very comfortable seats in the lobby. There was a plentiful supply of brochures about places to visit which was very helpful.

clean but not fancy - good value with breakfast that you can take to your room

Stayed with my hubby in a overall quiet hotel, clean room. It was a great deal for the location, also right next door to Whole Foods Market which was Awesome! Free Wifi is great, and cable. Bathrooms were pretty old...but clean.. 5 minute walk to subway station. I would go back! Great location, with helpful and friendly staff :) Huge firm king size bed too which was great! The Hallway did have an odour which my husband described as reminding him of his Dorms experience in university! ;)

I'm a small business owner in Calgary who travels to Toronto on business a few times a year. I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed here - everywhere else in the area was over 200 per night. Boy was I glad I did. It has a very home-like atmosphere and is located in the ritziest part of Toronto but they don't charge anywhere close to the other hotels in the area. It was clean, the staff was super helpful, there's free wi-fi everywhere and the beds were really comfortable. They also have this service where you show your room key card at some local restaurants to get discounts and freebees. In my opinion, this place was a great deal and I will definitely repeat next time I'm in Toronto.

Two nights, 2 rooms, family of 4. Cheerful, helpfull staff. Quiet rooms. Terrific location; near the ROM, shopping, University, restaurants. And PARKING, ($15 per day)which is a great price in Toronto. Altogether, a pleasant experience.

If any, only the location is in downtown. Hotel room is not that clean. The Philippians staff is not friendly.

Room was quite large but overall the hotel was abit rough round the edges. Looked quite old and tired. Room was clean and very central to get around Toronto.

I had what I think was a non-smoking room, though as soon as I entered the room there was a smell that I thought maybe was a smokers smell. I was only there for the night, but never got accustomed to the smell. The whole hotel had a bit of a funky odour.Staff were pretty friendly though. Also, it's not not at Bloor and Avenue, it's about 3-4 blocks north of Bloor.

The Howard Johnson Hotel was nice but not as nice as it should be for the price. In addition, we had to pay an extra $15 just to park in their parking lot.

Location. Can't open windows so not good air quality. Fans don't work in bathrooms either. Based on location they should look into renovating slightly or even give a fresh paint job, upgrade TV stations, upgrade electrical in bathrooms and do not have bed posts that are so high you can't even watch TV!

Location is great, room was large, with king-sized bed, but cheaply furnished and bedding not up today's standards, Bathroom was o.k. Cleanliness of the bedroom carpets a bit iffy. No coffee or tea - making facilities in the room but continental breakfast provided and coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day. Only paper cups in the bathroom.

Went in because I confirmed a non smoking room with 2 double beds. Told if I wanted non smoking I would have to take a king bed...but I had 4 people in my party so I insisted on having 2 doubls which put me in a smoking room when 3 of the four of the people in our party have allergies to smoke.

the hotel is a very good value for the money. you can expect a clean comfortable basic room, spacious, a small charming lobby, and a location in one of toronto's nicest neighborhoods. i will stay again, and recommend it to anyone.

Good location. Next to WholeFoods. It is not a fancy hotel, but it is located in very convenient place in the central part of the city. It is very clean, and internet connection is fast enough.

The location in Yorkville with whole foods next door. I felt safe here. Had to wait for hot water before bathing but I just passed the time watching cable TV. The staff was very welcoming upon my arrival and I suspect my room was upgraded as I was very impressed with the view, size, brightness and cleanliness of the room.

Economical, centrally located, free WIFI. No gym facilities; poor television. I recommend for stay with central location, good WIFI, parking.

Large hotel room. The night attendant; she lacked the necessary people skills to be in the hotel industry. I would stay again, great for the price, excellent location. Just work on improving staff friendliness, overall they do not look happy to be there, especially that night worker.

The room was better and bigger than I expected. Staff was friendly. Parking arrangement was a bit awkward. Few electric outlets in room. No fan in bathroom. The location is decent, near upscale restaurants and shopping (there's a Whole Foods very close). Staff were very friendly and helpful. Easy to access free wireless. The room was actually bigger than I expected with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. Clean room, nothing trashy or dirty found. Complaints about the room are small, there weren't many electrical outlets available (most were being used, some even had extension cords to reach the lights etc.), there was no fan in the bathroom, and none of the windows opened. I had trouble with parking the most, the hotel apparently has arrangements with another garage nearby, but the explanation they gave me of how to pay for it didn't really work out. The difference was instead of paying at the hotel desk with the ticket, I had to pay inside the garage in order to get out (actually paid less in the garage than what they said it would be). It may have been my mistake but the whole thing was confusing.
