The only disappointment I had staying at this hotel is that the wireless internet wasn't working. I wouldn't have stayed here if I had known it wasn't working. No one at the front desk said it wasn't working and by the time I discovered it was down it was too late to change my accommodations. It still wasn't working by the time I left mid-morning.

Staff was very helpful and accommodating. The first night was cold. The heater did not work very well.

Despite the fact that the front desk couldn't have been less helpful or even nice, we stayed over the weekend (and the hotel was under construction which they failed to mention). We left something of value in the room, and called immediately. Long story short, they found the object, but it has now been two weeks since they said they sent it. After several calls, we still have no answer. And to make matters worse, the front desk doesn't understand how to operate their phones-transferring me to every other department but the one I asked---3 times in a row. I was told there is nothing they can do. I strongly recommend staying far away from this hotel, especially if you forget something important in your room.

We had booked a room in Waunakee, WI because they had a Country Inn Suites. We arrived and found the room to be unacceptable. We left the Country Inn Suites, not caring that we would be charged for the room. It was that bad, and 110. We traveled in to Madison. Ho Jo's was just down the street. Went in, inquired about a room, received standard customer service, and checked in. The room was nicer than I expected. The location was great and they had a breakfast buffet in the morning. The desk attendant, in the morning, was very nice and friendly. We had a very nice breakfast and checked out. Maybe considered standard in some books, but I found the stay to be more pleasant than other hotels I have stayed with.

Went to State Softball Tournament. We only booked one night but when our team made the playoffs, we requested another room with fridge and microwave. They moved us with no problem. However, there was no fridge or microwave, this happened twice. The person at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating in finally finding us a room with a fridge and microwave.

Poor service. Bathroom counters had not recently been clean - some brown specks (scattered over counter (maybe coffee but can't tell). When I called front desk, they said a manager would return my call - never happened. Huge spider cracks in bathroom sick and bathroom door wouldn't shut completely. Poor lounge service. Will never use this hotel again - a big disappointment.

I picked this hotel specifically because it had both room service and a restaurant so we could hole up in the room and relax. Instead, we immediately learned 1) meals were not served Sunday night (the person responsible for handling them was off-duty), 2) lunches were not available, and 3) dinner and breakfast had to be ordered during very narrow time windows. Being carless and unwilling to eat every meal at the Wendy's across the street, we instead spend hundreds of dollars on cabs and restaurants. So much for the cosy, room-service-catered getaway. My other complains suggest general poor maintenance: a room carpet that felt slimy against my feet, unpleasant -and ever-changing- smells in the hallways, a showerhead that screeched when the water is on full. Nothing that angered me like the food issues, but enough in total to recommend against this hotel.

It was a nice weekend for a marathon. Close enough to everything, but far enough away to be peaceful.

Only option was a smoking room! Room was dirty and stunk. Large hotel was fully booked with bus loads of travelers. Reception area stunk of fried fish that was not fresh. The hotel is seedy and unkempt. The take it or leave it attitude of the staff when I was offered a smoking room as an only option was offensive. I did not feel safe.

The hotel was very noisy, slamming doors at midnight. We could hear people talking from our room on a Saturday night until 4 AM. Kids were runing in the hallways and there was a dog barking in the hotel.THis was the noisest hotel we have ever stayed in and we were very unhappy with it as we had just driven for 8 hours and were tired.

The staff were inconsistent. Some were wonderful, others were just going through the motions. There was a lack of coordination between staff members. My magnetic door lock was intermittent. Some of the electrical outlets were intermittent. The rooms are huge and the bathrooms are large, convenient, and clean. The rooms could use more lighting. I wouldn't put too much trust in the complementary airport shuttle, they got mine screwed up but they did arrange a taxi free of charge to make up for it so I have no complaints. This is a good one if you're traveling by car with the family. I would only recommend this to friends who are budget travelers.

Went to Madison for my daughters Cheerleading Competition. Hotel is great location for dining and shopping. I really loved their Pool and Game room area. They also have volleyball and a grill set up in the garden view area with a view right outside of your window. The staff was nice and friendly.

I was not really impressed for a hotel of this price. We expected a lot more. The hallway really stank like smoke and the non smoking rooms had a funny smell also. For some reason it also did not feel too clean. We have to say though the staff were really friendly. The beds aren't too bad either. So if you can get past the smell you'll like this hotel.

To be fair, this hotel had suffered a toronado on the thur prior to my arrival and the front glass was shattered, and the sliding glass around the pool also suffered glass damage. While the glass in the front was shattered but not broken, the glass in the rear was broken and boarded up. However, the pad ajoining the pool, as covered with glass fragments and dirt, twigs and other debree from the storm which had never been cleaned or swept. The restaurant is a misnomer and only had pizza for sale in the bar. Key cards constantly failed and room housekeeping left much to the imagination. Some days they cleaned, some they ony made the bed and replaced towels. The shower refused to yield hot water and the pressure was non existant

Being a first timer I expected some check-in/out problems but everything went great. We were impressed by the staff, everything went very smooth, the room was very comfortable and the breakfast they served in the morning was second to none. Overall, it was one of the best travel values we have experienced.

The Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Madison Wisconsin provided everything a business traveler requires after a long trip. A clean and good sized room with a great work area, efficient high speed internet, a comfortable bed and quiet location. The hotel was close to many area restaurants yet set far enough away from the busy roads to offer seclusion. I travel frequently and this was by far one of the best hotels I've stayed at, especially given the price. Highly recommended.

Front desk woman was delightful at 5:30 am, I thought she just came on but was at the end of her overnight shift, attitude is a choice! Hallyway to our room smelled like cigarettes even though it was non smoking. Clean, great breakfast, and friendly staff.
