Highly recommended, amongst the best in the world. This hotel should be used as a example for many 5 star hotels.

I stayed there for 5 weeks July 2007. Hotel staff are very pleasant, I spent a few happy moments teaching the bar staff English. Rooms are good. The WiFi did not work in the room but the wired did. 24 hour room service. Security is good, which is important in Guayaquil. It is 5 minutes from the airport, taxi fare should be $5. It is next to the Mall de Sol (5 minute walk). A $5 taxi ride should get you to downtown Guayaquil. After a while I went to the Sheraton to visit the bar which has Sushi and live music (a 5 minute walk). Also the Hilton Colon is only a $3 taxi ride away, which has Sushi and a good band at the week-end. There are a few good restaurants (Greek, Barbecue, Italian) one minute walk from the hotel, turn right from the exit. The Italian restaurant is very good. Overall a decent hotel, but let down by a poor restaurant and bar area (just too small but the staff are friendly). But you can find these next door.

I stayed there for 5 weeks on business. It is close to the airport (4 minutes). Rooms are good. Security is good. 24 hour room service. For Internet I used a cable in the room. The bar and restaurant staff are very friendly (I used to spend time with them teaching them English). If you are here for a long stay like me then I went to the Sheriton and Hilton in the evening. Both hotels have a sushi bar and live entertainment which the Howard Johnson does not have.You can walk to the Sheraton (5 minutes) and local restaurants (2 minutes). The Mal de Sol is only 5 minutes walk away. The Hilton is a 2 taxi ride away.
