You get what you pay for. I stayed here just a year ago and the room was adequate. The hotel is not at all what it was.
Date of Stay:
April, 2009
They where very accomodating. The hotel was located direct off of 65. Friendly staff. Continetal breakfast didn't have a great selection. I was impressed with the staffs attention to detail. They where attentive to our needs. The rooms where large for the cost and felt safe. The beds where a little hard. The continental breakfast was a little sparse as far as the selection. Overall, we had a great stay and will be using this hotel again in the future.

this is the worst hotel in the world or at least of the ones i have stayed in. first of all i didn't expect much for ** dollars a night, but i did expect clean towels ,sheets and toilet paper, but was i in for a rude awaking. the first morning there we had the do not disturb sign out and on the second day when i went to turn in our towels and ask for clean towels and toilet paper i was told they had no towels and would not have any until after four in the afternoon, when they got through cleaning the rooms but from what i saw they were still cleaning the rooms at after six in the evening. when we checked in they had booked the wrong room and the room they took us it was just nasty and when we complained the girl at the desk told us that they didn't have king suites and that we had booked a double but when my husband brought in our confirmation letter and asked for our money back she said we had prepaid and she could not return our money but did come up with a king suite ( which they didn't have ) . . we are stuck in this hole for one more day and i will never be back.

We really did not have any problems with the room itself. When we first arrived there system was down and they could not look up our revaitions but the wait was not long. I only other thing I did not like is that I drink a lot of coffee and the room only give you enought to make two 4 cup pots and when I asked for more they told me they would bring it in the morning, so I had to buy my own. There breakfast is not much either and they do not keep enought for all the guest they have.

Totally disgusted with the room and the manager refused to refund my money. The hotel is in the slum of Nashville. Avoid with all costs.

Older hotel, but was worth what I paid for it. Staff was friendly.

Bedding had cigarette holes in a non smoking room. Mattresses were warped and worn out. Pillows were yellow and bunched. I will never stay at this hotel again.

It was a nightmare! No cooperation or refund when we checked out, afraid to take our shoes off or lie on the bed.

this place was really gross, there were brown lavender stains on the mattress and hair all over the bathroom and the staff was rather rude with us.

The hotel website says, "located eight minutes away from the Opryland Hotel, the Country Music Hall of Fame, Metro Cente, and downtown Nashville city." Taking a cab from the hotel to the Country Music Hall of Fame, ON THE INTERSTATE at 70 mph it would be 15 -20. The 8 minute implication is that you are close to the main parts of the city - you are not. It is also a $$ cab ride to the airport when the standard "downtown" fare is set at $$. There is a nightclub right behind the hotel - we were up until 4:30 a.m. because of the noise, heavy traffic in and out of the club and car engines, horns and crowds loitering in the street. I am currently on the line with Travelocity who is being less than helpful in getting this resolved with a refund. I've been on the phone for 40 minutes so far. They are supporting the Hotel - and not "working to make things right" at this point. This is my second problem in the past two months and as their ad says "we promise to be your advocate throughout the process" is simply not true.

This was by far the worst hotel I have ever been in. Within 5 minutes of checking in we were killing roaches. I sat on the end of the bed, and the head of the bed went flying in the air. The matresses were horribly stained. The bed coverings were filthy. There were dead bug stains on the walls. We stayed about 30 minutes and then called o9ur travel agent to get our hotel reservations switched. I told them I would NOT stay here. They had to get clearence from the manager to refund our money. The manager would only refund 4 of the 5 days even though we spent less than 2 hours in the hotel. (An hour and a half of that was spent on the phone trying to make other arrangements through our travel agency and trying to get the refund authorized by the hotel.) The phone reception was so bad we could harldy hear anyone on the phone while trying to make other arrangements. We have not gotten our refund as of yet. This place was disgusting! I wouldn't recomend it to anyone for any reason.

This HoJo is exactly what I expected for a budget hotel. Close to downtown. We were only one exit away from the downtown strip. When we arrived at the hotel the front desk clerk was very friendly and already had our key ready for us. When we checked out it was just as simple. I think the continental breakfast was too early from 6am-9am (we missed it). You get what you pay for and we felt safe and comfortable for our cheap budget.

Close to everything and by the interstate, easy on and off. I would stay here again. I recommend this hotel. Mattress was a little hard and pillow was to flat.

32.95 room rate gets single bed tiny room, renovated. E levator, on far end of building, is on outside (in unsafe neighborhood). Towels literally felt like sandpaper, and wifi signal only usable in lobby (broken by kids on roof was excuse). Typical carb breakfast, and not-so-typical female desk clerk covered head-to-toe in tattoos. What I thought was homeless man was another employee. Guy cleaning rooms was visibly annoyed at 10am that we hadn't yet checked out. View to front was back of gas station, and view behind, a bar. It felt like I'd entered the Twilight Zone.

First, the Hotel wasn't really all that close to Downtown, Opryland or any of the other attractions I was interested in visiting. Second, the room was dirty(shower was relatively clean, but it filled up with water and wouldn't drain) and there were cigarette burns on the sheets and furniture. The hotel was also located in a somewhat seedy area of town, and there were several instances in which I was concerned about my personal security.

Its close location too Interstate 24. Items were missing from the cooler than was left in the room daily when we left. The overall stay was alright but everyday when we left the room to do what we had to do. Drinks would disappear from our cooler left in the room. The Hotel cleaners are only ones that had been in the room. We started filling out a card to turn in about our stay after the 2nd day when things went missing and that card also was removed from the room and was not replaced with another.

no clean towels also had roaches crawling in the room they did not care

The Howard Johnson was an overall okay inn but there where some things that were not. When I arrived, the room that was given to me, was not cleaned. Other than that, i just didn't like the location because it was right near the highway. I have no other complaints, and we had fun time staying there.
