Free Continental breakfast was great! Free breakfast included waffles, no swimming pool, and was an economy facility. Restaurant across the street was okay.

The hotel does not look like the photos. There was garbage by our front door along w/ a broken mop bucket and plunger. The towels in the bathroom were scratchy We checked out early.!

Location. Hotel staff. Power was out at check in, spa was cold, hotel staff inconsiderate. It took over an hour to check out hotel staff (1 person) must have been in shower finally came to front desk wet. should of had more staff to cover.

I had the misfortune of booking this room during the 4th of July weekend. The room was overpriced, there were dead bugs around the jacuzzi and under the bed. There was mildew around the tub and the bathroom floor was slimy when the bathroom steamed up from a shower. I called to complain and the staff said only one person was working and that I needed to wait. I complained to Howard Johnson and no one got back to me. I will NEVER stay here again.

Very friendly and helpful. Great stay! Would come back for sure! Very friendly staff.

Good location, friendly staff, and tasty breakfast. Different rooms have different quality beds, and some are really uncomfortable and others are fine. We got into our room and it was comfortable clean. In the morning they had a continental breakfast with waffles. We needed a ground level room, the first night they did not have but were nice enough to change us for the second night. It is not a luxury hotel, but its comfortable and convenient.

It was clean, breakfast wasvery good. I heard scratching noises between the closet wall and behind the bathtub and in adjoining wall to closet. I think a critter got in between that spot. OK for a one-night stay. Room was clean - continental breakfast was really good. Hotel staff was very nice. Walls seemed thin. I could hear neighbors when they were in the bathroom and shower.

Continental breakfast. Someone knocked on our door at 1:30 am asking for money and the room smelled. This is a good hotel for cost and cleanliness. Small jacuzzi. Good breakfast and good location. Room comfortable but it smelled funny.

Barely adequate. Overpriced-minimum facilities.

The room was so comfortable with a nice bed and lots of throw pillows. Felt like I was at home. Very comforting. No pool. The owner was very accommodating and let us in before check in time. We walked into our room which was so comfortable we didn't want to leave. In fact we didn't go for a walk on the beaches until evening electing to stay in our cozy room and let the decor soothe us. It was great and I was thrilled with the accommodations especially for the price!

They had a nice mini safe. The manager was not willing to give us a non-smoking room. It was what I expected it to be for a one star economy hotel. My biggest complaint is that the manager was not willing to give us a non-smoking room even though he had opportunity to do so. I would have been fully satisfied if it wasn't for the poor attitude, but as it is, I wouldn't recommend staying there.

I like the fact were not far from Monterey. Room smelled door didnt work all the time, noisy. The Hotel was an O.K. place to stay. The room had a funny smell, the door wasn't working properly, you could hear every footstep of the people above us and the smoke alarm went off @ 7:00 a.m. We did not go to stay the whole time in the motel, so it was not that bad. I'm glad we didn't stay another night.

Shopping area close to motel, target, Ross, marshals. Could be cleaner and new bedspreads needed, looked old. The exterior paint is not very pleasing to look at too many weird colors. Owner was nice and helpful and he did speak English. They don't seem to be able to supply extra towels very easily, and the spa was very small and it is really close to street. Not very private, need to close street exposure. All in all we were ok, we found a little diner across the street and we ate there twice. They were nice people. I could tell there were doing some remodeling. New tile in bath room, and some new windows and new air conditioner. It could be a nice place in the future.

Location. Dirty noisy, destroyed. We had next door and above neighbors that were drunk all night and were screaming, jumping and very disturbing that they did not let us sleep and reception did nothing to control it. Also the bathroom was dirty, stained, and dusty. We asked for a 2 bed and when we got there they did not give what we asked for, so we purchased another room and they charged us more for this one. Limited parking.

The rooms were nicely remodeled nice bathrooms and pretty good amount of room. The bed was small and made our backs hurt. It is an older motel that has been nicely remodeled rooms. Some of the exterior remodeling and the lobby is still in progres. It is convenient for visiting Monterey and not having to pay the high prices on the hotels there.

Good location, next to Costco. Very thin walls. I could hear every room!

Clean, friendly staff, good location. Some loud noises from adjacent rooms. Great waffle maker in the breakfast bar. Good location (close to Monterey) and decent value. A little noisy from the adjacent rooms but overall a good stay.

Staff was very accommodating. Rooms were average, parking was limited. I was happy with our stay. It's nothing fancy, but the staff is friendly, there's a spa (hot tub) and the rooms were clean.
Date of Stay:
April, 2008
The affordability was the only advantage. The room was located where much noise could be heard from other rooms. It's a little more than a motel. Check in was easy. I parked near my room, and I did get a 2nd level room which was nice. There was quite a bit of early morning noise though, but that is not fault necessarily of the hotel itself.

Functional and clean. Rooms smelled awful - musty/moldy. The motel was ok, but had lots of construction. Jacuzzi was closed. Rooms smelled very stale.
