Check in was horrendous to put it mildly--keys did not work after three attempts--staff was very unfriendly and defensive--Desk staff needs to be trained in customer service--maybe learn to smile and be positive.

Friendly service. Iwas overcharged. Hotel and employees was fantastic but managerwas horrible. They should provide better management for patrons. I'm still struggling to get them to credit my card for the overage that was charged.

Convienent to I-95. Old, needs updating. Adequate overnight accomodations. Reasonably clean. Courtious staff. Very unspecatcular.

The accommodations were clean and more updated than some other hotels in the area. The walls are thin and sound proofing could help. We travel to this area often and have stayed at most of the hotels. This was our first time at Howard Johnson's in Santee. It was very clean. You need to upgrade the towels. They are very thin and rough! The receptionist at night was super friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast. Microwaves in the rooms would be nice. The bed was comfortable and linens were clean. The overall cleanliness of the place is excellent. They are feeding cats around there outside. Don't see any mice, so I guess that's ok.

Its location. Dingy Towels and wash cloths, Wet carpet and mildew smells. The facilities are separated by a highway and it is not convenient to all of the patrons. It not good for more than an over night stay during travel. The wireless service is not easily accessible and there is no back up Ethernet port for computer internet access. It rates only 2 out of 5 stars because it is generally convenient and relatively safe.

It was clean and easy access to the interstate. The walls were too thin. We could easily hear the people next door. It was clean and comfortable. It's only 2 minutes to the interstate. Though we didn't eat there this time, we have had the continental breakfast before, and it was delicious and varied.

Nondescript - no redeeming value. Room and bathroom was very small. Beds were old. Breakfast was poor. Be forewarned. The hotel allows pets and does not apparently enforce its non-smoking policy. Many guests complained about non-smoking rooms smelling funky - too much for them to sleep in. Our room was on the borderline. There was residual smoke odor in the room - tolerable though had it not been after 9:00 p.m. and we had been on the road all day I would have demanded alternative arrangements.

Great price and nice location. Wireless internet signal very weak. All in all it was a great place for an extended stay. Wireless internet signal was weak from the room, but the weather was nice enough to sit on the benches in front the office and use internet.

The lady serving breakfast was very nice! Check in clerk was rude my room's bathroom was very unclean. My check in Clerk was very rude and unhelpful, however the lady working when we had breakfast was very nice. The bathroom in my room had blood spatter on the wall and hair all over the floor and in the shower. We cleaned the bathroom ourselves before using the facility.

Close to interstate. Kind of spread out. A cross between a 1 star and 2 star if I was going to Santee again, I would chose another motel/hotel.

It was convenient to the freeway. Impossible to do in 20 words or less> probably the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. I'm stunned this was rated as a 2 Star hotel. I have stayed in Motel 6's that were much better. Whoever rated this hotel obviously never stayed there. The room was filthy the sheets were threadbare the air-condition did not work. All in all I'm glad we only stayed one night.

It was very clean and accessible. I can't be critical of anything. This was one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed in. The rooms were clean and quiet. It was close to restaurants and the interstate. I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

The room was comfortable. The hotel was okay but looking at the other hotels in the area, for 52 dollars I should been able to get holiday or country inn and suites (both located in Santee) so I was a bit disappointed.

It was clean and the breakfast was good. Staff friendly. The room smelled like cigarettes, and it was suppose to be non smoking. This hotel was perfect for late night arrival and early departure. Not fancy, but it was pretty clean and breakfast was good. Nice staff.

Small town, convenient shopping, variety of restaurants This is an annual trip for my brother and me. We always attend the NASCAR race in Darlington. We have stayed at several of the hotels in Santee because it is a convenient place right off the interstate. This motel is as good or better than any of the others we have stayed at in the past and the price was less than we have ever paid. If your looking for 4 star Santee is not the place to stop but if your looking for nice people and a clean safe place at a reasonable price you will be happy here.
