Exactly what I expected. It did the job...

It is great to have a place back home in San Jose. Carpets dingy, need deep cleaning. The place was nice enough for the neighborhood. I went down the street to another hotel that was much cheaper and nicer. My savings, as I stayed but one night and just walked over and had a better stay.

I stayed for 2 nights and was well taken care of by the front desk staff ,they were very helpful to many of my needs and the rooms were very nice and comfortable. I would stay there on my next trip back.

I needed a simple, economical place to stay prior to leaving on an early flight out of SJC. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. However, what impressed me most was the incredibly helpful staff, always willing to get the information and provide the help needed.

CableTV in room, real cable and not that closed circuit. None. Formally the Executive Inn, this hotel is pleasant and fairly quiet considering it sits where S First splits onto S Second. If you have business going on nearby it's a great place to stay for the price.

Flew in for AOPA Expo at Convention Center, would be quite a walk took a cab both ways (avg $10.00 one way) to Conv Center. Rented a room with "Hot Tub" but the tub is really a whirlpool and it didn't work, room fairly clean, exterior in good condition, night clerk was nice, morning clerk should work elsewhere, basic breakfast with fresh food in a clean setting. Stayed at the St Claire last month would stay there again

The Manager: [...] would not let me pay cash for the room and we did not get the room that we booked origionally. We booked a jacuzzi tub room and recieved a smoking room instead. She was not accomidating and very unhospitable.

Fairly comfortable room. Dirty stains on the chair and carpet. The room is a little pricey.

My friends and I were on a trip for a Women of Faith convention. I booked my room at HoJo's cuz I thought they were family friendly. Well, we get there and there was like 4 cop cars in the back (not really the hotel's fault) and so wearily we checked in. We get to our room, check the beds (because of what I read before I left on this site), and found a blood/or feces stain on one of the comforters. Then there was a stain that looked icky on the sheets. We decided not to say anything because who know what they will bring you next. Thank God we brought our own blankets to cover up the sheets, and to sleep with. The air conditioner didn't work well. But, the hotel front desk staff was exceptionally nice. Other than that, it was gross. It's hard to fall asleep, wondering excatly what you are sleeping in. The shower didn't work all that great either. All over, I give it an icky thumbs down.

I had a little trouble getting into the hotel because there are lots of one way streets in the vicinity. Although, it was a nice place to stay and feel comfortable with 24 hour security.

My son and I were on an extended vacation throughout California. We'd already stayed at several different chain hotels and motels. Needing a room in San Jose, I surfed the net and found this Howard Johnson. When we arrived, the lobby looked nothing like the web photo. The so-called breakfast facility was a small corner in a very small lobby. Worse, when we entered the room we found it to be disgusting filthy. The bathtub was black, a chair so stained that I wouldn't even sit on it. We went to the front desk and announced that we were leaving immediately. I expected that I would not be charged for the non-use but I was. After complaining to the chain's central office, I received a letter from the hotel offering a future discounted stay. I wouldn't return to this hotel at any price.

This is actually a very nice hotel for the price I paid. The lobby was very inviting along with a very knowlegable staff. They helped with the places I needed to go to very easily. The room was very modern/clean and appeared new as I think they just remodeled. I am a neat freak and noticed that the bathroom was spotless too. The best part was the breakfast. There were too many items to choose from. It was hard not stuffing myself and it was free to. I will definitely be back here again.

very difficult to get in and out of parking lot. Street has island so you have to go down and make U-turns mattress was dismal.

quiet place off freeway, no dining options nearby, good pool but no spa, drink machine was broken, late check in always available. staff could be more friendly...

Nice hotel, about a 20min walk to convention center.

I will resume my stay: The receptionist was friendly and quick but careless when trying to solve guest problems. For instance: My remote control did not worked at all, instead of look for the real proble, she took the one that comes with the TV she was using and ask me if my tv model was the same, then she gave me that control. Eggs are not scrambled or fried, always are hard-boiled. My room's carpet was dusty. When I tried to get in to the bed for the 1st time, I found a old grey butterfly that suddenly went to the lamp. Neighborhood is so-so. Although it is near from downtown and has the advantage to be very near of a bus station.

"THe hotel staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The location was fine by us as it was a very short drive to downtown. The rooms need to be updated, however, as we had cigarette burns in our bedspread and mattress. We thought it was pricey considering all.We did get two good nights sleep however."

It's close to the Convention Center, about a 5 minute drive under the over pass. It's not the best neighborhood and it has it's fair sure of... Odd guests, but overall it's a good stay for the price. I didn't get a chance to try out the Hot Tub I had in the room because I was running late everywhere and a shower had to suffice, but it looked nice and the bed was very comfortable. Overall 4/5

"This hotel was great,I have not met a more helpful Manager at any other hotel. I hope he sees this."

I stayed with a friend for 2 nights, and found the staff to be very accommodating and friendly. The location was nice: close to downtown, without the high prices of the downtown suites. We had to ask for towels twice; they were not refreshed when the room was cleaned, but other than that, the room was nice and the beds were better than I imagined.
