Should have taken it as a sign when we opened the room door and the weatherstripping from the door came off (I pushed it back in). Hotel is very close to the freeway and very noisy, from the walkway and the room upstair. Non-smoking room smelled like smoke and perfume to cover it up. Bathroom was clean but the carpet was in pretty sad shape.Comp Breakfast is toast, coffee, juice, 3 types of dry cereal, pastries (which ran out mid-way thru breakfast) and apples.We stayed one night but that was enough. Thought I was going to get a comfortable and clean room and was sorely disappointed. Not usually what I expect from a Howard Johnson's.

The Howard Johnson Express was a nice place to stay it was clean too. The big bed made the room look a little samll.I liked blow dryer and the iron it was nice to have .

Convenient access to freeway and sea world. The room was not as clean as wanted and was very small especially with a King sized bed in it. Our TV did not have a remote control and the tub stopper didn't work. There was a dirty wet spot on the floor - like the AC was leaking. The room was really small and the pool looked dirty. I would not stay here again - especially with a kid and more than one night.

i was on business tour. and my company made accommodation for me. it was nice experience. the room was pretty clean. and all room amenities are nice and in working. the staff was nice. they help me lot to find my location and also guide me some cool SD's place......overall nice stay....,,,,

Wow what an experience. I travel to San Diego alot and stay in a lot of different hotels, & I dont recomend this hotel one bit!! It's loud, noisie, and definately not a place for a family to saty. Defnitaly not a children friendly hotel!!

Rooms were good nothing fancy but good for a good night sleep after a day of fun at the shore for a romanic wedding. The price was excellent and everything and everybody was helpful. I would stay here again but would have preferred a restuarant at hotel.

The parking was way too close to the next cars! I could have had cleaner rooms. The area of the hotel was very convenient and quiet. I didn't feel it was a very clean room.

The motel was very dirty: tile floors were filthy, tub in the bathroom did not drain, rug was dusty, light switches were black, and there were holes in the bedsheets. This motel is totally unacceptable for me and my family. Our reservations were for 3 nights but we left after 2 nights.

It was an enjoyable stay and the staff was great and fast. Nothing. It is a nice hotel, great price and enjoyable. The rooms were clean and neat and I will stay there again.

Had some reservations about staying here after reading some of the reviews but it was not nearly as bad as some folks had made out. Yes, it's near a main road, but I never heard any traffic noise in the three nights I stayed. The rooms are clean although not big, the shower and toilet worked and while it wasn't floor to ceiling marble and the room wasn't the size of a tennis court - it's a Howard Johnson and you get what you pay for. If it's clean and tidy and safe - I'm happy, and so I was. I found the staff friendly and helpful and accommodated all my requests - even lent me a bottle opener for my Coronas! Would definitely stay again. There is a shopping mall nearby and a rail link that will take you just about anywhere in San Diego you want to go without having to pay huge taxi fares.

It was an ok place to stay. The non-smoking room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The cord on the iron was broken off, the tv was not working. I told the front desk in the morning and all they said was they would make a note of it. I personally would not stay there again.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was outdated and not a good value for the price. The room had an odor that didn't go away even after I sprayed Lysol on everything. The toilet didn't always flush the first time. The walls were thin so you could hear noise and talking constantly. The tile in the bathroom was peeling. The towels were rough and dingy. And the bedspread was old, worn, and had an ink stain on it. Some of the quests were questionable and I had to ask to be moved so I would feel safer.

We stayed a total of four nights at this hotel. The hotel was not full and they put us on the third floor and never told us that a check-in the hotel they had a elevator on the other side. The room was clean but pillows were old and not very comfortable. The bathroom door would not shut properly the toilet took twenty minutes to fill with water. The maid servce forgot towels and coffee for our room more than once. The breakfast was not much better very old dounuts and pastries the muffins were ok the coffee too strong the orange juice two weak. I would not recommend this hotel more than one night at the most. Also all restaurants were to far to walk also there is not fast food in hotel circle so beware you must drive to eat from this hotel.
