Howard Johnson was very clean and comfortable. The price was very affordable for my family.

Free beer, wine and popcorn after a long days work. No food. Very nice and comfortable.

The perfect affordable hotel except for the location. Especially you are not driving your own car.

Pricey during the Strugis week, but not bad for the location and moderness. Rooms were very clean. Newer hotel. Decent breakfast. Only minus are lumpy beds and a pressure issue with the ceiling (anytime a nearby room closed/slammed the door, the false ceiling would buffett, a little annoying). Also not hotels fault, but Rapid City garbage collection is at 5:30 AM for this place. Dumpster slamming woke me up from a good sleep. I would stay again.

Hotel was new. The price was high, but it was during the Sturgis rally and all rooms are high. My room had a squeal in it. I thought it was the elevator, but never did figure it out. Desk clerk was not very interested in my observations about this. Good breakfast. Overall a good place, but if your room is noisy make it known right away. (I waited until check-put so I didn't give them a fair chance to move me).

Nicely decorated hotel andgood location. The heater in the room didn't work. The room was very cold when I checked in. It was a nice place; & great location for what I needed. Really the only problem was how cold my room was. There seemed to be no solution for the problem. It was very cold outside.

While the location is central to many of the areas activities..., and the breakfast and kitchen staff were very nice, I was struck by the seemingly inexperienced front desk and housekeeping staff. Frankly it seemed as if a group of young kids were running the place. On one occasion, the Front desk staff chatted away while I waited to be helped. Our room was not even cleaned the first day, and after she finally did clean, we never had trash can liners for the rest of the trip....GROSS!!! The whole other wing of our floor smelled like vomit... !!!! I never got to use the beautiful pool, as some kid puked in it... I realize that the pool issue was not their fault, and when we pointed stuff out to them, they did fix them... like our broken bathroom door. I shouldn't have to ask for a clean room, and the housekeeping staff should have realized that our bathroom door did not close, and have it fixed before we even got there. I loved Rapic City, but I would never stay at this hotel again.

The hotel was fine but not exactly what we were looking for, off the beaten path. The staff seemed distant and not exceptionally friendly. The pool area was very nice. There were no nearby restaurants. Would not stay again.

The breakfast was good and always someone wiping down tables and refilling items. The floor we were on was non-smoking, but when stepping out of the elevator you could smell smoke.

We selected this hotel due to it's close proximity to downtown and that is a fairly new hotel. We were not disappointed. The staff was great as was the room itself. The room was new and very clean. The pool area was huge. I think we were in the pool or jacuzzi at least twice a day. Although there was not a big selection for the free breakfast, it was however very sufficient. It was only about a 20-30 min drive to most attractions. We even went to Mt. Rushmore twice. We will be back !

We stayed 3 nights while sightseeing in the Badlands / Black Hills area. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The pool / hot tub area is excellent. They have free beer and wine on weekday evenings, and the continental breakfast was good. The hotel is only a short drive from shopping and restaurants. We're travel website members and the rate we got made this an outstanding value.

The size of the rooms was fantastic! The hide a bed in the couch was terrible. They were so nice. The rooms were so big. Very fast on delivering extra bedding and towels. Very clean. Very nice pool area. The best continental breakfast ever.

We stayed 3 nights, and it was great. The room was comfortable and I felt it was a great value. There is free popcorn and drinks every weekday night, and the hostess remembered what we liked on a repeat night. It is not located close to any restaurants, so had to drive a couple miles to find meals. The free breakfast was good, with belgain waffles made fresh, plus other items. Overall, it was the best hotel of the entire vacation and I would recommend it.

This Howard Johnson Express was exactly what our family needed for a holiday gathering. While I had a handicapped room, it was available for the lowest rate so I took it. Usually I have allergic reactions to cleaning supplies, etc., but this did not happen at the HoJo property. Either the chemicals were not super fragranced or it was super clean. I would gladly stay here again and so would my family.

Room was extra clean and very comfortable. They served Folgers coffee rather than a 'good' brand. Hotel was within walking distance of the Convention Center. Room was nicely air-conditioned and the continental breakfast was great!

This HoJo was clean, affordable, in a good location with easy transportation access and had a efficient, friendly staff. Definitely recommended by this traveler.
