Date of Stay:
June, 2009
I was in Lubbock for the Ironman 70.3 held in Buffalo Springs Lake. The location of the hotel was super close to the host hotel, access to the road leading to the race venue was right there and there was a catholic church within a 5 minute drive. Grocery and dining were really close, too. Everything in the room was great, the staff was really nice and having breakfast available was great. Not sure why not many people were staying there! Perhaps if there was more landscaping or decorating on the outside, it would be more attractive.

No trash bags room was dirty and the floor would be more comfortable than the hard bed. Never again even if its free.

I found the stay at this hotel fine. Although the room was a little delapidated (wall paper loose in a couple of places). I had no other problems. Wireless internet worked flawlessly and the folks there were nice.

We went to spend a few days in the city. It was a nice location and we loved the pool. The only thing is that there was not pool hours posted and they closed it at different times each night. A little confusing. We liked the room as it was cozy but the bathroom was a little small.

Close to location. Not clean, not enough towels for 2 people, iron board broke, dirty. Dirty.

If you are looking for a cheap no-frills hotel this is it. Location is okay, not much around and a lot of the rig workers stay here. Internet was free which was nice, but the cnnection in the room was not in a good location and I had to use my computer ontop of the frig. There are other nicer hotels within 1/2 mile.

It was very dirty there was mold growing in the window seals and roaches there was a bug in the bed. It was not very well maintained at all

Economical. The iron did not work. The beds were hard and the pillows were thin.

"This hotel was terrible, dirty, burn holes in bedspread, used chewing gum in air cond unit. Holes in wall above the light switch. Just awful, NEVER AGAIN"

The hotel manager was gracious enough to allow us to check in early so we could dress for a wedding. The overall room was clean (comfortable was dirty and carpet dirty). The bathroom was clean and the air conditioning worked properly. It was more like a Motel 6 than a Howard Johnson

Cost. Terrible smell outside the room all two days I was there. Location to the loop is good and the money paid was ok but I have stayed in motels for less money that was much better. I would not recommend this hotel.

"Dirty sheet and quilts, upkeep is very poor. Wouldn't stay here again, One redeeming quality was the receptionist at check-in, she was quite pleasant."

Since we had prepaid check in was a snap. Hotel was very clean. Location was convenient. We were in town for a wedding, so we spent most of our time away from the hotel. We did not use the pool, so I can't comment on that, but it looked very nice, and had a nice ramada to shade spectators. Rooms all open to the outdoors, which is a plus in my opinion. Beds were very comfortable. In-room coffee pots kept coffee hot until you turned the pot off, unlike some of those in other hotels which shut themselves off. We didn't eat breakfast there, so no comment, except that I do know they offered hot food. We had adjoining rooms which makes it nice when traveling with family. All in all a very pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Larger rooms than other similar properties. Very strong cleaning product smell throughout hotel. Very old H.J. motel re-branded "express" after facelift. Overpriced for what it is. Comparable properties elsewhere would bring 1.5 stars tops. Last choice because of TX Tech Homecoming weekend. Cleanliness and staff efficiency saved the experience. This is the model for a one star budget motel.

"I hated this experience! Our bathroom was nasty, manager had to come and clean, he admitted that the room was not cleaned well. I have bed bug bites or flea bites from the bed. I was afraid to walk on the floor. There was lots of noise outside early in the morning. If I had not already paid for the room, we would have ran away. I actually want my money back."

The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The fan in the bathroom was too noisy. Overall, our stay went well and we will stay at this hotel in the future.

"Great value with great price. We stayed weekend there. We enjoyed.Good manner staff with all knowledge.I spoke with frontdesk person look like manager but he is a knowledgeable person. All amenity in room, clean room with good beds with pillow top.I never sleep like this hotel"

The Howard Johnson in Lubbock is very nice. The room was very clean. I loved the free HBO and Long Distance call. It was a great value for the amount of money I paid. I would stay there again if I was ever in Lubbock

It was inexpensive but would rather have chosen another location. There were active drug deals going on next door. Did not feel safe. The original room we were placed in was in the side back of the hotel. We were not there 10 min before my teenaged son was offered drugs by one of the occupants and in the time it took us to re-pack our car and go back to the front of the Hotel we observed 3 drug exchanges. We were moved right away but I felt uncomfortable for the rest of the stay for fear that the occupants would know which room we were moved to.
