the room was very clean. and the location of the hotel was great . we went there to gamble and see some shops we were close to everything we even went to the movies. the people we spoke to were real nice and helpful. we would stay at the hojo again.

I was very disappointed in the overall room. The air did not work properly, so it was stuffy, the shower was weak, and the breakfast was not ready and then had only two places with which to sit.

This hotel is basically a notch above an "inn" where you pay an hourly rate. The staff gets a big "F" for customer service. We were in Lake Charles for a graduation and it was a double bed set up for a family of 4. However, there were only enough towels for 2 people. I went to the front desk to ask for more towels, and was told, "we don't have anymore towels". I asked when they would have more and the lady at the desk had no clue. A better answer may have been I will have some sent to your room as soon as they are available. The room itself was small and had a 19 inch television. It had an odor that was musty at best. The location of the hotel is not in a very good part of town. As a result I kept checking to see if my car was safe and didn't sleep very well. Our reservation was originally for 2 nights, however with all these factors, we decided to cut our trip short. When we checked out they wanted to charge us for 2 nights and said we would have to contact Orbitz to have them refund the difference. We contacted Orbitz and they were helpful in this process and said they would refund the difference. Hopefully they will. This is definately not a place you want to stay with when you have a family traveling. Maybe if you are going to the casino and just spending a night, you may consider it. However, I would not recomend this hotel to anyone ever!!! Howard Johnson should take a close look at this hotel. When we were shopping on Orbitz I picked the hotel based on the familiar name, however this was a huge dissapointment and pretty much ruined our get away.

The hotel was very clean in all aspects and the staff was friendly and helpful. Being Express there are no dining facilities. Good location near all major roads in Lake Charles. The Owners are at hand to help you in any way humanly possible. Very clean from bow to stern. The bath was bright white clean.

Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Not the friendliest staff in the world, and not a very nice area, but well lighted with parking lot lights. Overall I was satisfied, just not a place I would pick if I were to drive by looking for a place to sleep.

IT was somewhat clean, and the microwave and frig. Towels were dingy, covers had an odd smell. The Hotel was overall okay; however the area was a little era. But I would return for another visit, if I had to.

Nice friendly service. No vending machine besides one can coke machine in lobby which did not have water. Very nice stay.

Manager was nice. The towels were dirty and brown looking. It was easy to find however the men hanging on the steps were scary and I didn't feel safe. The first night the towels were dirty and the bathroom was not real clean.

Microwave and refrigerator in room. Parking lot was small and congested. Although everything appeared to be clean there were stains on chairs and bathroom walls.

Inexpensive and conveniently located. Slightly musty odor. I think that the hotel was adequate but far from luxury. The rooms were visibly clean but had a bit of a musty odor. It wasn't necessarily intolerable, just noticeable. All in all, for the price I paid, I would definitely stay there again.

Friendly staff. Neighborhood. The room had an unpleasant odor and the neighborhood was not safe looking. I will not stay at this hotel again.

The only thing positive that I can say about this hotel is that it was affordable and easy to book a room. It was filthy. Bed sheets had not been changed when we got there. No security. I wrote a letter to the Howard Johnson hotel letting them know how unhappy I am. Still waiting for a response.

It was very clean. Nothing. Very clean, the staff was nice. It had a good location and was very easy to find. I rate it a 8 out of 10.

convenient to I-10 FOR TRAVELING. Damaged from hurricane Rita- we should have been made aware of damages. Under normal conditions, this would have been ideal for our purposes. motel was minimally functional and was being repaired. Room had musty odor and ceiling was ready to be re-blown. Smoke detector was hanging on cord from wall. I am working with similar motels in Biloxi ms damaged from Katrina and this motel was a few weeks from being ready to receive guests. Amenities described were all available but there was too much construction materials and work scaffolds visible and had we arrived earlier and been able to find other accommodations, we would have.
