The check in staff at Howard Johnson Express in Iowa La. was excellent. That is where the good review stops. The sink did not work. There were no wash clothes in the room. There was no breakfast served (only juice and coffee) The housekeeping staff just threw out linens and sheets in the hallway with all the trash from the rooms. This made it impossible to navigate the hallways with luggage and was very unpleasant sight and smell. The room was stinky. Everything was unplugged upon our arrival(clocks, lamps, TV) Find a different Hotel to stay in or just keep driving to a different city.

Location and convenience. Cleanliness and quality. I will not stay at this hotel again. The only positives are price and location. The room wasn't very clean on arrival and wasn't cleaned at all the next day. Everything in the room is the absolute lowest quality possible from mattresses, furnishings and fixtures (such as shower head) to the television, linens and towels. Wash cloths were so rough that they felt like a loofah! You truly had to "pat" yourself dry because of the towel quality. The television had to be reset each time it was turned on, picture quality was terrible and very few channels are available. Hotel staff was indifferent, not bad service but certainly not good.

Friendly, usable dining area; accessible; clean; recommend to others for lake Charles area. No outside seating for rest or smoking, no play area for kids outside. I had a lovely stay at this hotel and it is easily accessible to lake Charles where I was attending a wedding gathering for a few days.
