Everything was ok...nothing was great....except for Phil's, the restaurant downstairs! ENORMOUS quantities of good food, friendly service, and a great price. The hotel, well, what exactly do you expect for the price. It was old, but clean...the towel bar fell out of the wall when I tried to hang my towel on it, and there were motorcycles going through the intersection where the hotel is ALL night long. The front desk staff were friendly. It is very close to the historic downtown area. All in all, for the price, it's not horrible. Hot Springs, in general, had about the nicest locals we've ever met in a town. Most tourist areas seem to have a certain disdain for tourists...but not here. The people were ALL very warm and friendly, from gas station attendants to fast food clerks, to servers in fine dining restaurants.

Great pool, great location. Broken elevator. Overall happy with this hotel, would stay again.

hotel was renovating, we were stuck in a room in the back of the hotel that had about 7 rooms being renovated beside it. we had to walk past the rooms to get to ours, the doors were open, beds were propped against the walls, holes in ceilings, very unpleasant sight. there was no lighting at our end of the walkway at night. the light above the t.v. didn't work, there was hair in the bathtub, a hole in the floor by the toilet, the baseboard in the bathroom had staples holding it up. oh, and the elevator was gross too. it looked nasty and smelled like an ashtray.

I would reccomend the Howard Johhtson to all my friends. The staff was excellent and very helpful of the activites in thier area and on their recommendations. The location was perfect for the activties. I would definitely stay here again and bring my family.

We chose the hotel because of location, close to downtown. The room was in need of repairs and maintance, pool was closed for reconstruction. which was not disclosed to us until we checked in. We had our teenage children with us and they were very disappointed. The room open to the out side of the hotel and the carpeting smelled of mildew. There was also a lot of noise during the night (people yelling) and when we tried to call the front desk our phone didn't work. Very poor customer service!

Convenient to Downtown Hot Springs Hotel was under construction. Hotel was under major construction, complete new roof, including trusses and decking being installed while we were there. Common areas were dirty and damaged by workers, i.e. elevators and stairways. I assume when construction over, common area carpets and walls will be replaced, repainted. Bathroom in room needed to be re-tiled and tub replaced. Rest of room fine and clean.

The 3rd floor of the hotel (we were on the 2nd) was being totally renevated, so at 7:00 in the morning we got to hear the workers and the dump trucks and all the loud noises that come with the renevation. The rooms had an odor to them. The room was relatively clean, but it was still an old hotel that needs a complete overhaul. On a scale of 0-5 (5 being best), I would give this hotel a 2.

We had an excellent stay at the Howard Johnson. Although we could have stayed at a much newer hotel the convenience and price was great. Management and front desk service was excellent. We were compensated for the pool being under renovation. They were waiting for the code enforcers to come back out. The pool was beautiful when it was finished. We stayed in the king jucuzzi suite. We have a 10 month, a 4 year old and a 17 year old. Management provided a family vacation package for Magic Springs/ Crystal Falls, Mid-America Museum and the Belle. It also had breakfast provided each morning of the package. I loved this because I didn't have to put a package together. This was our first trip there and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. We shopped in the downtown area and down Grande Ave. We also ate at the restaurant out Grand Ave. Phil's restaurant is inside the hotel. The food was excellent. We would stay here again and recommend this hotel to family and friends. GREAT JOB HOWARD JOHNSON HOTEL MANAGEMENT AND STAFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was a perfect location and overnight stay for my business trip.

Bed was clean and comfortable. Tile was falling off wall in shower. Good location for my business travels. Room appears to have been redecorated recently but shortcuts taken in bath. Also noticed something not stable under the carpeting like a hole in sub floor. Bed was clean and comfortable. I would stay there again. but feel it was overpriced compared to other hotels in the area.

Where was the Roaming Gnome to tell me about the construction? The workers equipment woke us up at 7:30 AM on Sunday!! If this is a 2 star hotel, then I guess the only difference between 2 star and 1 star is that we had a coffee pot, soap, and shampoo? The phone and remote were filthy. All I can say good about the room is that it wasn't so bad that I didn't say, "we can't stay here" The staff was friendly, and offered discounts to various attractions. We went to the alligator farm, mid america museum, and Rod's Pizza. ALL GREAT. BUT, we will NEVER EVER EVER even consider staying at the Howard Johnson's again.

my hotel room was very nice but one of the elavators was out of order so we ended up having to walk and extra distance to get to our rooms

The front desk staff was very friendly. Everything. Terrible conditions, location, safety, and price. It was very run down, nothing about the hotel itself met my expectations. Every hour (at least) a fleet of police cars went flying by with sirens on. The parking lot was very dangerous; I had to run to prevent being attacked by three young men whom intended to beat and rob me. There was no Internet available. Internet was one of the features promised. The ceilings and floors had very bad water damage, and the floor was lumpy in the room. This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.

I reserved two rooms for two nights and wouldn't even stay on this property. I actually lost all my money and stayed at another hotel. I actually called to complain make other arrangements and did nothing. Extremely unhappy with the situation. After 3 phone calls and three supervisors were spoken to all that I can do is file a written complaint. This property was under construction which they denied to Travelocity but the construction company had a sign on the front wall. Workers were standing outside of the window and the room wreaked. As you can tell I am not happy.

The faucet in the bathtub were loose. The coffee pot was dirty. The last night we stayed the room above us over flowed the toilet which flooded our bathroom and we had to change rooms late at night. Overall the hotel needs major upgrades.

Bed was comfortable. Bathroom tiles were in need of repair. For the most part, this hotel was better than most that I have stayed at. Phil's (hotel restaurant) had friendly service and I got my food fast and hot. The only thing that I had a problem with was that a few of the bathroom tiles looked as though they were about to fall off the walls. Overall, it was a good stay.

Location. Doors to rooms where outside. Great experience.

That's difficult. There really wasn't anything I liked. It had been converted into a restaurant. Overall, cleanliness was poor. The motel is old and has not been well-maintained. The rooms have been renovated but it is superficial and does not hide the age and lack of proper maintenance over the years. The public areas, such as walkways, elevator, vending areas, were filthy and obviously had not been cleaned in a very, very long time. Overall, I absolutely would not recommend this motel.
