It was an average place to stay. The room smelled a bit musty but it was pretty clean. I only had one waste basket; there wasn't in the bathroom. Also, I did not have a remote control for the TV. Only a couple of small annoyances. Bed was very comfy, though.

Very good location. First room had obvious water problems as indicated in corroded lamps. We had standing water on carpet, and had to move.

No reason not to stay here. For the money you could not have expected anything more. In fat, the room was very clean and bright, the pool was amazingly clean and refreshing, and the bed was confortable enough for the money we paid. It's no Venetian Hotel, but if you're looking for a decent place to stay without paying through the nose, this place can not be beat.

Rooms are large. I had a room with a balcony..very nice. The expanded continental breakfast was just a continental breakfast. Not all items available. The staff were very informative and helpful. The hotel sits on the main road in front of a shopping center. Very easy to get to from both sides of the road. I have stayed here before and found it to be very nice

Staff was more than accommodating. There was nothing about this hotel we didn't like. Great for area colleges. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking, with short walk to rooms. Continental breakfast had a variety of items, not just coffee and donuts. We stayed here for the value and the close proximity to where our destination was. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The bed was like a slab of concrete and the pillows might as well have been filled with sand. The check out clerk acknowledged that people complain about the beds and he would forward our complaint along, but ""I'm only a clerk, they won't listen to me."" So vote with your feet and stay somewhere else, there is no sleep to be had here.

The rooms were large and clean. Because of the busy college weekend all rooms in the area were charging a high price so there was no way to match value to the room. I paid a very high price for an average hotel. Supply and demand is the name of the game.

August, 2008
The staff was friendly. The stained carpets and bad smell. The carpets were stained in the hallway and in the room and the room smelled of mildew. The staff was nice, but I would not recommend this motel.

The Howard Johnson Hotel we stayed at had very helpful desk staff when we arrived. The check in went well and was quick. The first room we got was smelly. It smelled like urine. The desk staff apolgized and was very quick to give us another room. However, the next room smelled also, not like urine but like too much cleaning solution over a long period of time and not enough actual cleanliness. I felt dirty staying there.

People were friendly and helpful, good continental breakfast, nice place. Very nice hotel worth the one star! People were friendly and it was clean. Would recommend this hotel!

The Howard Johnson Express Inn in Hadley MA is a very short drive to the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. The room was spacious and clean and a great value for what I paid.

The staff were all very friendly and the room was very spacious with free wireless internet. The mattress on one bed sunk a little in the middle, but the other bed was fine. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient to Amherst and we loved the free wireless internet. Continental breakfast was provided, but the food was so-so, except for the fresh milk from a local dairy, which was awesome! It was fine.

All parts of the hotel were above what I had hoped for. It is in a convenient location for what I had to do.

Excellent location to Umass college. Beds are adequate in comfort. The beds are marginally comfortable as well as the pillows. When I visit my son at Umass I usually stay here and bring my own pillow. The location is great.

The Howard Johnson Express,Hadley,Mass. was vwry comfortable and was located in the best area for our purposes. I would recommend this hotel as a good buy for anyone coming to this area.

The Howard Johnson Express Inn in Hadley is an old hotel that needs to have some upgrades in order to merit it's expensive rates. The rooms need sound proofing...we easily heard the TV from the neighbors room and foot steps from the upstairs room. The bathroom sink was chipped, rusting and the drain did not close all the way making washing out hand washables impossible. The bathtub tiles were moldy is places and the tub had inadequate slip resistance. The bed matresses were soft, the pillows hard, the towels thin and frayed, and the heating/cooling unit was very noisy and hard to regulate. The sliding glass doors leaked cold air. The staff/cleaning crew however was very friendly and the breakfast/lobby area was clean and well kept. The free breakfast was adequate, however the hot water decanter for tea held only tepid water even though I tried it at various times throughout our two night stay.

I liked the slider of the outside. Bad bed. The bed was uncomfortable and the lighting was poor only one light for both sleepers so one couldn't turn ones off. Also, there was no table on the "other" side of the bed. The breakfast wasn't very good. Other than that, fine for the $$.

There were a lot of great places to eat very close to the hotel. I told the woman at the desk I had mobility trouble. She described my room as being "right down the hall". It was a very long walk, difficult for me. The hotel was a good choice, close to the hotel where my business was. The complementary breakfast was very good. The beds were very nice, firm, and comfortable. I was very happy with my stay there.

Amenities were easy to find on each floor, great location to colleges. Heater in the room was extremely noisy, kept waking me up when it clicked on. Can't beat the location to be near Umass college, I was happy with everything except the heater in my room was very noisy, it kept waking me up through out the night. Continental breakfast was a nice extra and 24hr coffee/tea service also was appreciated.
