The door to the room had a 1/8 th of a crack opening to it. When you shut the door the window would rattle. No fan in the bathroom and some of the lights didn't work. I have stayed in alot of hotels in my 54 years and this was the worse.

Comfortable bed, clean. Noisy, unacceptable breakfast quality, need serious renovation. The name Howard Johnson used to be equivalent to Holiday Inn. No more. This one is no better then your average Motel 6, no pun intended. If you expect a Holiday In express, Marriott Suite, or La Quinta level of quality, you are up for a great disappointment and this one is across the board especially when it comes to breakfast. The proximity to the freeway makes this motel a very noisy one. More modern facilities address similar issue with specially insolation of walls and windows. This motel, doesn't seems to have it. The door to the room was hard to close which require me to do it forcefully. Judging by the banging noise coming from other rooms, it didn't seem to be an isolated case. If you are very tired after a long drive and you need a quick shower and a place to put your head during a single night, I guess it's ok, but if you are in town on business for more then one, I would recommend to look somewhere else.

My stay @ Howard Johnson Motel in Birmingham was a good experience. Room was neat and clean. I would recommend it to all my friends. Will be staying in Birmingham again soon and I will be booking a room @ Howard Johnson Motel.

Nothing. Everything. Very loud because it's right next to the interstate. It smelled.

You hear traffic all night long. The room also smelt funny.

There is nothing I liked about this hotel! A chair was broken and my wife fell out into the floor, the shower did not drain and I was scalded. The hotel was sub par with many problems. The TV. Was so fuzzy that it was useless, a chair was broken and my wife fell in the floor. The tub did not drain and I stepped into scalding water which had accumulated because the tub was not functioning properly. I was burned so badly that I screamed in pain. I reported this to the manager and asked for a refund, she refused and told me that I must take that up with you. She was rude and pretty much accused me of lying. So, I took her to the room and showed her the problems. I enticed her to stick her hand under the water because she said it was impossible that it would get hot enough to burn, she did so, jerked her hand back and winced. She still refused to refund my money.

The room was dirty. It felt like our feet stuck to the nasty carpet when we walked on it. The smell in the room was rank. There was rust in the bath tub. The air conditioner did not work right. We would have left as soon as we walked in but there were no more rooms available in the area. Can't believe you list this place.

It had a microwave and fringe. No jacks for video games or DVD players. It was alright for a one night stay.

Hotel was one of the best i have stayed in for while. It has a deluxe continental breakfast in the morning and the high speed wifi is really good for business clients. It is the best bargain around with good rooms at rate of $52.00

Shabby but clean, hard pillows and only two per bed. I would not recommend this to anyone for the money.

"We didn't have backaches in the morning nor did the roaches come out of their hiding places. But, we had noisy college students next door that kept us awake. The ""breakfast"" is nothing more than cold cereal and bagels. The only reason to stay at this hotel is the location...but there are others in the same area that appear to be MUCH nicer! Spend a little more than $49 per night and get a lot more!"

It's one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It was a dump in ever sense of the word. One word - dump.
Date of Stay:

Nothing Dirty, unappealing and in a not too desirable location. Arriving at night at this hotel can be a daunting experience when one sees a lot of people hanging about in the parking lot and a police cruiser standing by, cruising the grounds.

Convenience to downtown area. Very run down condition, worn bathroom fixtures, broken tiles etc., worn out mattresses. I liked the location, the continental breakfast was acceptable, it was basically comfortable but NEEDS REPAIRS BADLY!
