It was a nice room for a great price. It had a king size bed which actually was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but not a big deal. It is close to various stores nearby.

Continental breakfast was only ok. Bathroom didn't work well, room smelled of smoke (non-smoking). Stay elsewhere, for the money Hotel 6 is the same, only much cheaper.

Room was infested with bed bugs we did not find until morning. No refund yet but they will when I am finished with them

The Howard Johnson Inn - Bakersfield is conveniently located at the side of the ramp to highway 99. The contstant stream of traffic provided a reminder of just how close you are to that highway. The toilet in our room was not working, it had probably been out of commision for some time. We were offered another room, we gratefully accepted. There was no plug in the bath. A quick call to reception led to a promise of one in 20 mins. 24 hours later and another reminder brought a temporary fix. The pool was out of commision, problems with filters. This was fixed during our stay, but the water looked dirty. So I did not use it. It was cheap.... and I guess I got what I paid for.

They had micro, mini frig. How may rooms were rented out to resident of Bakersfield. The bathroom was kind of gross they had silicone gunk all over due to repairs they smelled a little too much like cigarettes. People living in rooms and hanging out all times of the day. Very d.

Unlike some of the previous reviews, we found the outside and room new looking, neat and clean. The lobby people were fine. Out of Special K, and no fruit. Generally a good experience. Convenient to resturants and shopping. Exceeded my expectations.

While there are many dining options available very close by, The Howard Johnson's morning breakfast was quite unsatisfactory. The room was quite clean and the maid did stop by every day, however, the air conditioner did NOT work, and the wireless internet was barely available. I could only get a low signal depending on where in the room I was. And when I called the front desk about it, they had told me that I needed to step outside the room and grab a wireless signal and then bring it back in the room. I think this is a bit ridiculous. The pool, while nice to swim in, wasn't extremely clean, and the hot tub wasn't very hot. Other than that, the room was quite nice and worth what I paid for it.

Bad neighborhood, dumpy hotel. I have nothing good to say about this hotel.

My husband is ill and we (or I) spend many nights in Bakersfield for medical treatments and hospital stays. We live 50 miles away in the mountains. Motel is clean and most of the staff is helpful and polite. Housekeeping staff does at times speak rudely of guests in .... in front of guests. Many guests in California speak and understand the language so training in this area is needed. Request for extra pillow honoured quickly. Breakfast basic not fancy, but it is in tune with a continental breakfast!

We checked in late, (about 10:30p.m.) due to travel from Las Vegas. They gave us our room key and we walked in on another party. The comment by the other party was that this was not the first time this had happened. We were very embarrassed and went to the office for an explanation. They said they didn't think we were coming and gave our room to someone else. Okay, but why would they then give us the same room when we showed up. There were no amenities and it just seemed very old and dirty. We would never stay there again. I guess we got what we paid for.

I have nothing good to say about our stay at this hotel. EVERYTHING!!!! I have already contacted you about our stay at this hotel. It was absolutely AWFUL!! Please email me with any info.

The roomwas nice and clean. The bathroom needed a little work on door, paint on it. Quite, even though it's next to freeway. Nice pool with hot tub next to it.

Close to freeway easy access. Not in the best part of town. Thi motel was OK for solo business travel I would not take my wife there.

The rooms are ok for the price, but they need better pillow or more pillows in the rooms. The pillows are flat and make sure each room has a remote for the TV. Also your front desk help could use some public friendly training.

It was ok, typical cheap motel. Bad area. Pool was nice and clean

Dirty, unfriendly desk clerk, police arrived twice while checking in. Very seedy area. Lots of people loitering in lobby and parking lot. Dirty lobby and rooms. Continental breakfast empty at 8:30 and not restocked.
Date of Stay:
July, 2006
It was a place to stay. I had to move into another room cause the tube was leaking, There were about 5 people outside my door having a party I had to be up at 4 am. I wouldn't stay there again.
Date of Stay:
June, 2006
Location. The room smelled awful! and was dirty. Very smelly room and dirty shower.
Date of Stay:
May, 2006
Nothing, it was poorly maintained and in a terrible area! There were people screaming and banging on pipes all night long! Poor shape, it looked as if outside maintenance was all they cared about. The staff was barely competent and we were scared all night leaving us exhausted the next day. No rest will be found here.
