affordable luxuryReally lovely room with especially good bathroom and products. Very clean and comfortable and also very convenient for the centre of Cambridge. Bistro in the evening served good food with efficient and friendly staff, but the wine is overpriced. Would definitely stay here again but would think twice at £175 per night. My late rooms deal was very good value.

Not impressed... maybe expectations have gone upRoom was OK but walpaper was torn and there was no draws for clothes. Bathroom seemed to have no ventilation.Staff not really that helpful would have stayed a second night if they had been able to find a way to keep me in the same room.Breakfast food was good but there were no staff around at 7am and we were on a tight schedule.

CoseyThe room we stayed in was very classy. The deep baths were luxurious. The matress was a dream to sleep on. I want one of those matresses.

Hotel du vinGreat location.Rooms clean and pleasant, bed comfortable and great shower. We couldn`t get dinner at hotel as had not booked ahead, breakfast was very good and reasonable value. We visited the bar which is in the cellars, lots of comfy leather seats in subdued lighting - looks great but the drinks were very expensive.People sitting next to us left without ordering after seeing the price of the drinks.

The bathroom was very dark and the hot water ran out after running a bath but the hotel did move us to a better room. Otherwise very enjoyable stay.

We received a pleasant welcome from helpful staff, even though we arrived whilst a trainee was one of the people manning the front desk. Our bags were efficiently pre-delivered to the room from the kerbside as we went to the parking area 5 minutes away. The room was quite spacious and of a reasonable but not quite a HIGH standard. The bathroom needed cleaning more efficiently. Unfortunately, having a shower was not a fully satisfactory experience, no handle to support a person stepping in and out meant a risk of slipping. Setting the shower temperature meant having ones arm alternately burnt or frozen whilst reaching the unmarked controls rather stupidly situated directly under the very oversize shower head - at quite a reach around a hinged glass partition. At the end of one's shower the bath was about 4 inches deep in water around one's ankles, as it was not draining very well. Worst was the constant noise during the night, although at the back of the hotel, away from the busy road, we had to suffer the noise from 6 large air-conditioning units situated on a roof just below the [non double glazed] bedroom window. Unfortunately, this noise meant a fitful night's sleep, and it was certainly not possible to have the window ajar to provide fresh air. We were eventually given a discount of 50 pounds after complaining as as we left and this was welcome, but as a discount off a supposedly \"Superior\" room at 165.00 that could have been more generous. Honestly, I'd rather have had a sound night's sleep. The bistro restaurant was pleasant, as was the cellar bar and the hotel is well situated. We MIGHT stay again but would need to be very specific about a quiet room.

Only had breakfast which was a tad expensive. The staff are extremely efficient and helpful even recommending outside restaurants. Must prebook car parking. Easy to find if you have a tom tom.

Fab hotel, as are all the Hotel du Vin hotels. Great room, lovely bed and linen, mini bar, cd player, iron, hairdryer, tea/coffee etc Large bathroom with monsoon shower and under floor heating. My husband developed a sick bug whilst we were in Cambridge (nothing to do with the Hotel) and the staff were very kind and understanding and lent us DVD's and brought room service including dry toast and iced water for my husband. Not quite the romantic valentine we had hoped for but neverthless a great stay and we will definitely be staying there again.

We have stayed in many hotel du vin's but did not rate this one as highly as the others. It may be that it was new. We stayed in an outside room which was next to the smoking area..not a good place for two dedicated non smokers..also it was very noisy being woken up at 1.00 clock in the morning by a wedding party..to be fair we rang thru and the staff endeavoured to stop noise. The rooms are still very nice and an ideal location for exploring Cambridge.

We spent our tenth wedding anniversary at the Hotel du Vin in Cambridge and would thoroughly recommend the hotel: it was friendly without being intrusive, reasonably priced for its market, and the room was excellent (the only tastefully decorated hotel room we've come across).

Truly special place. Food in restaurant not exactly as good as we have had in the past but still wonderful for that special occasion.

We were very pleased to be able to book this hotel as we have been wanting to experience this chain of hotels for some time. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we were pleased to be upgraded. The room was great in size and range of facilities but it could have been cleaner - the carpet hadn't been hoovered, the bedside table had cup marks, the shower drain had hairs in it, the side lamp needed a new bulb and the clock didn't work. The range of drinks - cafetiere and fresh coffe etc were good and newspapers free. Parking was too expensive at £14 a day but you will pay similar charges and have more hassle moving the car if you park outside so it might be worth it. At the reduced rate it is certainly worth it but there would have to be a few improvements for it to be worth the full price.

lovely room and gorgeous bathroom with generous goodies. Food is expensive but very good. we opted for breakfast at care Nero in Cambridge at a fraction of the hotel cost! Just a few minutes walk into the centre of Cambridge.

It was lovely and comfy and well located and breakfast is definately worth paying for. We stayed in a superior room which i probably wouldn't bother with next time as it was still quite small with the same facilities and view as the standard rooms as far as i could tell (the staff said it was difficult to explain the differences between the standard and superior rooms!).

Nice, plush place to stay. A treat. But for a place this expensive, they should provide the newspaper for free. Also, it's rubbish to have to leave a deposit for the room, plus £50 upon checkin, and then go through the whole card debit machine malarkey again on check out.
