Hotel de las Letras

The Hotel De Las Letras H&R pays homage to the world of literature and to the pictogram as the first element of written language, with texts by different authors silkscreen printed on the walls throughout the hotel, including poems, essays and extracts from stories.
The building is listed as part of the Historic Heritage of the city and dates from 1917. It was restored for use as a hotel in 2005. The restoration of the whole building was carried out using top grade materials in order to complement and emphasise the original features:
- The distribution of areas and the original floor heights of the building.
- The magnificent orientation with three outside faades on the streets Gran Va, Caballero de Gracias and Clavel.
- The five interior patios which provide good natural lighting to all the floors.
- Two original staircases, in a perfect state of preservation.
- Coffered ceilings, tiles, arches and columns from the period.
The treatment of colour and light, modern materials used in a classic way, the choice of all the details and elegant, original and modern decoration, denote that the hotel combines the buildings charm with 21st century modernity, making it the most up-to-date historic hotel in the city, the most modern classic in the Gran Va.
The rooms have been planned and designed down to the smallest details, from the finishes to natural fabrics in cotton and linen, exclusively designed carpets made in Nepal, specially made furniture with different coloured lacquers and different types of lighting, everything chosen to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
ROOMS
The 109 rooms are distributed on the 6 floors of the building around the five interior patios. Almost all the rooms in the hotel have exterior views, depending on the arrangement of the different types of room: Basic, Superior, Plus, DLs and Duplex, adapted to the buildings special characteristics, the large terraces lined with Ipe wood on the fifth floor, the four turrets which crown the upper part of the building, the glazed galleries which form part of the exterior faade and the sixth floor terraces with individual Jacuzzi, ready for use whatever the season and from where Madrids wonderful skyline can be enjoyed. Services: Plasma TV, Satellite channel, Modem Fax connection, free Wi-Fi, personal Bar, selection of pillows, safe box, individual air conditioning/heating, telephone, room service.
OTHER
De las Letras H&R with poems, stories and essays silkscreen printed on the walls in various colour ranges, books in open areas, literary projections and the spirit which gives life to a hotel which pays homage to the world of literature, also has an area dedicated to reading, the Library; fully panelled in natural wood and with comfortable sofas, where guests can take refuge with a good book, in calm, warm and welcoming surroundings.
The flat roof of the hotel, El Atico de Letras, dominating the rooftops of the Gran Va and surrounded by a Mediterranean garden, is the ideal place to enjoy the sun, eat or start the evening.
The hotel Spa is a mini urban refuge, with massages, sauna and air-conditioned Jacuzzi, for that time of day when one can devote time to personal care and relaxation.
