The staff were helpful and the hotel was pleasant. The size of the room was adequate, and it was very clean. Rue Vaneau is well located for shops, cafes and the Metro underground system. On the second night there was a total failure of the air-conditioning system, which affected every room in the hotel. We were told that the engineer wouldn't arrive to fix it until 8:30am the following morning. It was a very hot July night, so we had to sleep with the bedroom and bathroom windows open, with the noise of traffic coming into the room from the street. The hotel did not offer us a reduction for this. Everything else seemed perfectly reasonable. We chose not to eat breakfast at the hotel for an extra 14 Euros per head. There is a cheap cafe just around the corner.

Hotel vaneau Saint GermainWe were really happy with the hotel. The reception staff were helpful and on the whole quite friendly. They spoke good English too. The room was very nice, the bed was huge and bathroom compact but had everything we needed with a great power shower. We also had a balcony which overlooked Rue de Vaneau - we were not expecting this and it was lovely to have a balcony. Rue de Sevres is quite busy and noisy but you couldn't hear this once you were inside the room with the balcony doors closed. It was slightly annoying that the hotel lift only went up as far as the 4th floor - we were on the 5th floor so had to carry our bags up the last flight of stairs. This wasn't a huge problem for us, although it would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. The hotel is very close to 2 Metro stations and within easy walking distance of lots of bars and restaurnats of Saint Germain. However, saint Germain is an expensive area to eat out in, so probably not best for people on a budget! A great (and cheaper) area to go to for food is the Latin Quarter. Overall, we had a lovely stay.

Staff on reception (24hr) very polite and helpful. Hotel imaculately presented and had a good style including large lead glass windows in the bedrooms and great showers. Literally 1-2mins walk from Metro, shops and cafes. Our room was slightly noisey as it was at the end of the hotel near a main road.

The hotel is situated in a great location and the room and bathroom were really spacious by Paris standards. I would highly recommend it.

The breakfast room is quite tiny (the picture of the entrance of the hotel on the website is somewhat misleading). The lift stops at the fourth floor, and you should exercise if your luggage is heavy and your room located on the fifth floor. Nevertheless, we had a pleasant stay, and the location is fine for those who plan to visit the 'rive gauche' of Paris.
