Booked this hotel based on all the positive reviews on tripadvisor, boy were we disappointed! It was completely NOT worth the money we paid per night. The front desk staff were RUDE. We had booked a room with a double bed. But the room we were given had two twin beds and were extremely small. When we requested to switch to one bed, the front desk staff replied that they could change our bed to one bed. We were happy but we returned in the night and found that they had not changed our bed to one bed but instead had used one sheet instead of two. When we talked to them again, they said we either deal with the two twin beds or we had to move to a room in the back facing the courtyard. Our room had PAPER THIN WALLS. We could hear conversations from neighboring rooms and people walking around and opening and closing doors. In the morning we would hear loud noises coming from elevator and kitchen. The door had no dead bolt or chain link. MAID WALKED IN ON US once while we were sleeping. Bathroom was extremely small and sink drained poorly. The shower water pressure would change depending on usage in other rooms so the WATER TEMPERATURE COULD CHANGE FROM VERY HOT TO VERY COLD as we were showering. The hair dryer handle would get so hot that I needed to wrap it with a towel in order to continue using it. The AC IN OUR ROOM DID NOT WORK AT ALL. One night we found the staff were trying to pry open the ELEVATOR DOOR WHICH GOT STUCK WITH PEOPLE INSIDE !!

I personally found the staff excellent. They responded to my questions in a very polite manner. The bar staff at evening were gererous with their measures and the staff at breakfast time provided you with whatever you asked for. I was stunned by the view from our room - magnificent. I had read a lot of reviews stating that the walls were thin - THEY WERE RIGHT. My only fault was inconsiderate neighbours who did not trust one of their kids with a key so every 20min there was a knock on their door - most anoying. I will stay there again as a FIRST CHOICE. I had heard a lot of negative reports on the rudeness of the French staff and the filth of the city. I did not find that at all.

Very nice hotel. Excellent location. Right across from the Metro which we used extensively the four days of our trip. Location was perfect - walk to Arc and down main street to Concorde. Very nice cafes in the area. Front desk staff was excellent and very friendly. We had 3 adults in the room so the two twin beds and extra couch that made into a twi n bed were perfect for us. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom was nice and modern. Water pressure in the shower was low at times, but a minor issue. Room was quiet. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and most helpful. The breakfast, especially the Fench Croissants, were the best that we have every had anywhere and is a must try for every visitor. The rooms were really good, although small, we found it very pleasant and clean. The hotel is within walking distance of restraunts and just a hop away from the Champs Eleysee, and also close by for many hop on hop off bus tours. The price is on the high side although the good memories more than compensates for this. Overall we loved our stay here and recommend a stay here. Make an attempt to speak French, be polite and remember you are in France and so show some respect for the country and culture, and people will help you out.

The view from our room was postcard perfect! The concierge was extremely helpful and professional. The only thing I would complain about it is the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom smelled of mold and there was visible mold on the windows and shower walls. The sheets must have been 40 thread count instead of 400. They felt like army grade blankets. I was expecting a bit more from the general amenities.

We visited the hotel for 4 nights to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The hotel is clean, comfortable, right in front of the Air France bus stop (which is a great way to get to and from the airport) , on the subway line, and not far from good restaurants and shopping. the concierge is great. See him as soon as you get there to set up reservation and help you plan your stay. Overall this hotel is excellant and I would stay there again.

"If you ask clerks in the hotel something like interesting points, direction to there, transportation, they can`t answer. They give you only a tour company name that interests them (for commision?) but you. They said they didn`t have info about the bus tour I asked about and they finally gave me the brochure which was hidden in the closet."

"This hotel could not be in a better location. The entrance to the hotel faces the subway entrance (Charles De Gaulle Etoile). From that one station, you can get to anywhere in the city in no time. Most of the rooms have an amazing view of the Arc de Triomphe, and right off of the Arc is the Champs-Elysees.The Concierges were fabulous, and quite helpful. The room was spacious, clean, and had a HUGE bathroom (quite a luxury in Europe)."

"The room was very large for Paris standards. (We were upgraded to a junior suite.) Nice location across from Champs Elysee and easy to get everywhere b/c right across the street from a major metro stop. But I don't understand why people thought the concierge was so great. They couldn't get us reservations anywhere we wanted to eat and gave us misinformation several times (told us things were open when they were closed), so we wasted some of the precious time we had in Paris. Also, only a couple of rooms have a view of the Arc de Triomphe."

"This is a wonderful hotel in an excellent location. The views are amazing from the top floors and the location puts you right in the middle of everything with a metro stop at the front door. The staff and service was top notch and the rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. A truly excellent experience."

My fiance and I loved this hotel. Balcony looked right at the arc. Bus to-and-from airport has a stop directly infront. Metro is right there. I WILL stay there again. Staff very friendly and their English was better than average.

"My 18 yr old son and I stayed five nights at the Splendid Etoile and it was fabulous. The room was large, well furnished,clean, very quiet. We were able to get two separate beds with no hassle. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and spoke great English. The location was less than a block to the Metro, RER, Air France bus. Not as many reasonable eating places as in the Latin Quarter, but we planned our day around it. Highly recommended! Would go back in a minute!"

"This is a great hotel with the best possible location, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes with in walking distance.The elevator to the Metro is just 4 steps in front of the hotel and the Air France bus stop is across the street; we used it to and from CDG, very convenient.The Champs Elysses just around the corner.We had 2 good size, clean, quiet rooms w/ nice bathrooms and a perfect view of the Arc.The concierge and the staff were all very helpful, pleasant and friendly. ( multilingual).We will stay in this hotel again. =)"

I stayed at Splendid Etoile Hotel for 3 nights on Dec. 2006. I had a clean room facing the Arc de Triomphe and I enjoyed my stayed there very much. The location is great. The Air France Bus Stop and the metro station are across from the hotel. You can walk to the champs Elysees. The staff at the hotel was very friendly.

We loved everything abut this hotel! Great location and superb staff! Room was perfect (overlooking the Arc). Would definately return!
