The room is extremely small, I dont have space to place my suitcase. Unbelievable! I did not expect the TV to be hanging down from the ceiling, no 4 star hotels do that.

This hotel is terrible! It is definitely not worth to be considered a 4 star hotel. The room is so small and uncomfortable, it makes no sense to pay for that amount. Basically no service, considering I had to wait for more than 2 days to get my room cleaned.

My partner and I went to this hotel for a romantic night out in the city. We checked in and went to our first room. We had a look around. The room was small. The King size bed was actually 2 single beds put together. We opened the fridge, its not stocked. Also was not on, and water spilled on the floor. Hmmm, not off to a good start. We had the room changed over. This time it was smaller. Same thing with the king size beds (2 singles together) Fridge was working, but again not stocked. Writing desk had enough room for a laptop, and nothing else. We decided to have a little nap before we went out for the night. That turned out to be a little difficult. There are no block out curtains in the window. So the room is quite bright. Also, the room had a sliding window that would not seal (There is at least a .5 cm gap between panes). So you hear all the street noise. The walls are thin, and since they clean the rooms late in the day, we heard banging and vacuuming the whole time. We could hear the people above us and around us every sneeze, every cough. Those 2 single beds are not comfortable with the ridge in the middle. At least the aircon worked for a 37 deg. day. The one good thing of the room. The second day, after spending the day in town. we come back and our room is not made. We were also after some lunch. No can do. Hotel Restaurant is closed on weekends, which isn't documented anywhere. Room service menu is a bit sparse and there isn't that much around the area open during lunch time except Subway a few blocks away . Oh, while I’m at it, we never received our Gym pass. We made a complaint, but the staff didn't care. Upon checkout, it seems there was a queue to complain. The person in front of us was not a happy customer either. Not a 4 star hotel, and definitely too expensive for the service (or lack of) you get.

Phone in my room did not work and it's a little noisy being on King St but good location for Docklands Stadium / Southern Cross station and there are restaurants and an IGA supermarket close by.

The location is very convenient as it's a short walk away from good restaurants and convenience stores and the Southern Cross Railway Station. Whilst located at the left corner of The Melbourne CBD, the opposite end of the CBD is only a 30 minute walk away. Breakfast facilities can be improved by providing a 'healthier' option other than bacon, eggs and hash brown!

This place was huge disappointment. The staff especially the female receptionist is unprofessional and does not know a thing about customer service.Disorganized, unreliable, unresponsive to emails or phone calls even though given 5 days notice for an upgrade.Rooms are small with bed squashed in and lighting that doesn't work. Shared bathroom arrangement - ridiculous as swipe card allows strangers to walk in bathroom when you are taking a shower - door doesn't lock! The shower leaks over the floor making it very slippery. The 2 complimentary bathrobes were absolute filth with one complete with dirty smelly sweat stained collar and the other with lots of old blood stains covering the middle of the robe. The Car parking station is inconveniently situated a street away in which we were not informed about when booking was a pain with carrying luggage. The parking station needs a swipe card in which the 1st card didn't work and we needed a 2nd handed over by a rude receptionist in which she placed the dud won under the counter. On returning home we were notified by Hotel Sophia that we were billed for the 1st dud parking key as it was not returned?? Therefore we paid for the 1st key that she lost. In total we paid $225 for an overnight nightmare. Melbourne is a lovely city but Hotel Sophia is a place to be avoided.
