Let me just say that this is a really nice place to stay. The location couldn't be better--you're within walking distance to great restaurants, shoping and the beach. Our first room was on the wall shared with the bar next door. Bad idea. We stayed Thur, Fri & Sat, checked out on Sun. Seems that the hotel and the bar have been feuding over the ridiculously loud music the bar plays late at night. I'm not kidding--my fillings were vibrating as I was laying in bed trying to sleep. I called down to the front desk and they were very sympathetic, but ultimately couldn't do anything about the noise. They did, however speak to the hotel management and we got a different room the next night and a nicely reduced rate for the night that we had the problem with the bar noise. Bottom line--if you're going to stay here, make sure you request a room on the opposite side of the hotel from the bar!!! You'll thank me later. Rooms were nice, but pretty plain/sparse. But we weren't there to be pampered by the hotel or its staff. We were there to relax and enjoy this sleepy, beach village. Which we did.

I stayed here in early April and found the hotel to be quaint & comfortable with friendly service. HOtel has an intimate "boutique" feel: Great Location in the center of town & near shopping. Lovely lobby. Good continental breakfast. Front desk staff were personable and valet were especially helpful to me. This is a gem of a hotel. No resort activities or restaurant but they are close to everything. I will return with my husband.

Hotel Santa Barbara was in a perfect location, right on State street, close to everything! That's mainly what you are paying for because the hotel rooms are not very modern, they are clean but not up to date. Also, their windows or single pane glass and it gets kind of cold. Plus you can hear the the people partying at night. Not bad if you're getting home late yourself but not good if you are wanting a quiet night. The hotels serves complimentary continental breakfast with plenty of good choices and at night they have tea and coffee for self serve. I would stay again, just wish they would modernize it.

Decided on a last minute trip to Santa Barbara and at first Hotel Santa Barbara had nothing but after a call back we lucked out...somebody had cancelled. Friendly, young staff gave a good recommendation for dinner...we walked to the Paradise Cafe (great burgers, cute patio). This hotel is right on State Street (the main street) but our room was really quiet. The windows look really thick and didn't open but there was a.c. The breakfast in the lobby looked good but we went to the Starbucks next door. State Street is so pretty...we walked everywhere and didn't even get in our car until we left. Loved the shampoo and yeah!...they sell it in their new gift store. Would try for a king or deluxe queen next time...just standard queen left when we booked.

The Hotel Santa Barbara is very well located on State Street. There are tons of restaurants and shops from the minute you exit the front door. You are five blocks from the ocean, and it's a very nice walk. If you don't want to walk, there is a free trolley service about a half block from the hotel. While I'd prefer to be closer to the water, this was a great second option since everything was booked. It was nice to be in the middle of so many wonderful stores and restaurants. The rooms are very small, but are clean and well maintained. I thought the rate was a bit expensive with no amenitities such as a pool or free fitness center but you are probably paying for the location. I would recommend this hotel to friends.

The staff at Hotel Santa Barbara was absolutely horrible. From booking our hotel, throughout the stay, and our check out, they were rude and useless. Our credit cards were overcharged for extra rooms and nights we didn't stay. When attempting to fix the problem, no one seemed to care or have any interest in fixing the problem. I will never stay there again and wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone!

Hotel Santa Barbara has probably the best location, so don't plan on sleeping in, literally. We got, upgraded, at no extra charge to a room next to the laundry shute and elevator. After a horrible night sleep, we asked to be moved to another room, and they gladly did so. The next room that we got stuck with was much smaller and next to the ice machine. Every hour or so the generator would vibrate the room. Not the best place to relax.

Two of us stayed here during late November. Actually, most of the stay was satisfactory. The elevator is quaint but watch the door for it will grab you.We encountered a big problem with hotel management/staff after check out. We received an additional charge of 120 for cigarette burn damages and the manager stated she could smell smoke in the room upon her inspection. My problem is that neither my wife or I smoke and we hate smoke. In fact, I will not stay in a room that has had a smoker stay in the room. I have many times in the past requested a change of room for this very reason. There was no smell of smoke when we were in the room so ...?After a week of calls to the hotel management we were told we were responsible for the cigarette burn in the bed spread and we would be charged accordingly. If you stay at the Hotel Santa Barbara, make sure you inspect the room with the manager in detail before and after your stay to avoid such issues.

Hotel Santa Barbara has really friendly staff and convenient valet service. The staff volunteered places to visit and ongoing events in town and surrounding areas. The room was average size, comfortable clean bed and bathroom. Everything was well stocked and maintained by room service. Excellent location in center of town with no end of social activity options

The elevator was not up to par. The bath tub drain took all night to get the water out of it. And I was not happy.

This is a very pretty older Spanish style hotel, that has been redone. The lobby is very nice. Our room was cute but very small and didn't have much of a view. The people that worked there seemed nice. They parked our car across the street in an open lot. There was room in the hotel lot so I am not sure why they did that. The city is working on the street out front, but that is not the fault of the Hotel. It was clean and close to a lot of shopping and places to eat.
