The RIU is a wonderful hotel in a great location. The room was amazing. The rooms have a great view, there very clean, and it comes with a fully stocked bar, fridge, safe, television, king-size bed, and double sink bathroom. The food is great. The RIU has four restaurants and giant buffets all around the clock. Each restaurant has a theme and all the food is great. The service is amazing. Between the services that cleans the room twice a day, the bars, or any meal of the day, the service was always awesome. Some Cons. Out of the amazing pool, there are no hot tubs anywhere. One has to rent a room with a hot tub. To book dinner, one has to go to the front lobby everyday between 0900 to 1200 hours to make a reservation. In addition, the dinning halls are very small and can only hold about 50 people. So if you don't book early, you may have to hit the buffet. Also, if you have an activity planned a day where you will be gone and can not book a dinner reservation; there is other way to get one. The front desk in pretty unreliable. I asked them several questions on simple things and they did not have an answer, nor looked to obtain one. The RIU has three bars; however there is no dance bar. The bars only have one kind of Aruba beer, but it pretty good. Also, the rum is all Aruba rum (no Malibu rum) and the bar has not type of energy drinks. All of these cons are very minor, and they would not prevent me from returning to the RIU in Aruba.

We enjoyed our stay after we finally got some soft cushions for our very hard bed. It took the hotel four days to get. I can't imaginine why this hotel has such hard beds the number one complaint!! I read some reviews on this before I booked thought maybe they were too fussy. Changed rooms first day too musty.

I stayed at the RIU Aruba from March 28 through April 1, 2009. Upon arrival, I had to request my sheets be changed because my room reeked of mildew. That smell never completely left the bed -- I think the mildew got into the mattress?Yuk! Other than that, my room was kept immaculately clean. I had an awesome, full ocean view from my room. The entire staff at the front desk and in the restaurants couldn't have been nicer or more responsive and helpful. I traveled alone and they seem to give me even more attention. The hotel is in walking distance of restaurants and shopping, great location. The swim up pool and beach areas were great for relaxing, never crowded. I decided to go to the spa for a pedicure and massage--service was horrible. The ladies were unfriendly and not helpful in making sure that I had a relaxing experience at all. Both the massage and pedicure were less than mediocre but the prices suggest otherwise. Be sure to make reservations for the restaurants each day because they fill up quickly. The best of their five restaurants is the Steak House. Second would be the Italian restaurant. The rest is just okay. The room service menu only has about 5 items on it, very poor. The sports bar where they direct you to get food 24-hours a day is almost the equivalent of vending machine hamburgers, ham and cheese sandwiches and fruit. I got a discount for the half day jeep tour and I thoroughly enjoyed it, do it. Caution-- the ride gets extremely bumpy. I would stay at the RIU again and refer others there but I'd request a mattress change if I smell mildew on the comforter and I wouldn't go back to the spa.

The Riu was the best hotel we could have chosen for our honeymoon. The staff was fun, courteous, and always there to help. The food was amazing, even the buffet. The location was perfect within walking distance of shops, water sports, activities, a cinema, and sunset walks on the beach. During our stay we rented a jeep for $95 and drove the whole island, saw donkeys, ostrich, and the natural bridge. The funnest part of the trip was the Jolly Pirate Sunset Cruise. It was on a pirate ship. Bring your bathing suit!! The Riu was a perfect honeymoon spot. It was relaxing, yet fun, but not spring break crazy fun. People of all ages are able to enjoy the amenities.

As soon as you walk in through the rotating door you get a feeling of being in a very elegant hotel. They give you a drink and make sure that all your needs are taken care of. The staff is professional and bilingual The Riu Palace is walking distance from the Hard Rock Cafe and shopping you can also ride the bus to downtown for $1.50. The airport is about ten miles from the highrise hotel area and the Taxi is $11.00 so there is no need to buy the transportation which we paid $66.00 USD. for. It is windy, but the wind makes the temperature perfect. The night entretainment at the hotel is ok. Enjoy Aruba it is a GEM.

Watch your money. Arrived on the 22nd of feb. two days later $ was taken from my LOCKED safety depoait box in my room. Someone had a master and just helped themselves. I was not the only one robbed that day. A gentleman from Nashville Tenn had $ taken from his room. Lost two hours of my vacation dealing with the Aruba police. The hotel management was difficult to deal with. They knew thay had a problem but didn't want to deal with it. I found out to late that theft was a problem at the RIU. It took two robberies in one day to have maintenance drill out all the safety deposit box masters to try to stop the problem. Forget about trying to get some compensation for the losses. They just look you in the eye and say with a smile " sorry it was an unfortunate incident. " The rest of my stay I had to carry everything around with me. It is a terrible way to enjoy a vacation. Will go back to Aruba but never at the RIU..

This hotel was amazing! From the moment my boyfriend and I got there, they treated us like royalty. Checking in, they came right over with drinks for us...took our bags up to our room (which was gorgeous!). We were amazed at what we got for the price we paid. The pool was very big and we never had a problem finding a chair. The beach was also amazing! They had cute little huts you could lay under if you wanted to get out of the sun. Only thing with those is that they were taken early, but we usually got one around 3pm. The food was also great! ate at the buffet 2 nights, the Steak house one night and went out on the town to a local Italian Restaurant my parents recommended. Everyone on the island and the hotel were just so nice! I def will go back! :)

The Hotel was beautiful, the food was excellent and plentiful, the people were great and helpful. we checked out all the hotels when we were there, this was among the best if not the best. All inclusive is definitely the way to go. Drinks and food at the others are a little expensive. The beds are a little hard, personally I like it a little softer, but thats really the only thing I can complain about.

It was the best vacation yet, everything you need is at the hotel. There are several restaurants, and the food is amazing in each, with your own personal chefs. The location is amazing, and the pool design is spectacular. The staff is amazing, they are extremely helpful.

We planned this trip with another couple and had a blast. We love Aruba. This was the second Riu Palace that we stayed at and have loved them both. The hotel was in a great location with walkways along the beach side and street side with great shops, restaurants and bars to check out. Aruba is a very windy island and once you get past that it's the best. One thing that is a must if you go to the island is eating dinner at the lighthouse (italian) restaurant. It was the best restaurant we have ever been to. Great food, great staff, great scenery, and great atmosphere. It was by far the favorite part of our trip. Sopranano's and Salt and Pepper are also great places to check out close by. Overall we love the Riu Palace. We stayed in Cabo last year which was a little bit of a nicer hotel but the overall experience was nicer in Aruba. We're already planning our Costa Rica Riu trip which opens later this year!!!

Our experience at the Riu Palace Aruba was excellent. The rooms and facilities are clean and well kept. The pool is just fabulous especially enjoyed the little cocktail tables. We used the beach palapas only one day due to the early risers that sneak down and reserve God knows how early. The dining choices are varied - we enjoyey the breakfast buffet but did not like the dinner buffet atmosphere or food. We used the restaurants in the evening and they were better because they are smaller and food quality seemed better. All in all we both really enjoyed the vaction and hotel accomodations - would stay here or at another Riu resort in the future.

food was horrible.. Lunch buffet was left overs from dinner night before.. Horrible!! nothing comes with this all inclusive. no water sports. nothing.. you need to pay for everything.. and prices make NYC look cheap. i would stay away from all inclusive bc restaurants outside hotel are much better.. no need to rent a car either.. nothing to see on this island.. 90% is moon scape..

The experience at this hotel was amazing. It is in a perfect location and has all the amenities that you could want. The staff was extremely nice and polite and were always there to get you anything you needed. I really enjoyed the italian restaurtant and all the lunch and dinner buffets. They had excellent food choices at all hours of the day. Overall, I would definitely go back to this Riu

Our only complaint is that for beer they only offer thier local beer, my husband would of liked a choice and the only other negative is having to go make reservations for dinner at the resturants between 9 and 12 and can only make it for four people!!!! We would recommend this hotel to anyone the property is very clean the staff are very friendly!!!!!!! If you are looking for relaxation this is the place...... OH!!!!! must be outside to grab a HUT at 6AM!!!!!!!!

riu palace aruba was amazing.. i went with my bf and we had such a great time together.. not much night life.. hotel needs a club or lounge type of place with good music. overall amazing.. great staff.. clean beach.. huge pool.. the bed might need fluffier mattress but it was fine...great food..the island breeze kind of feels cool though and feels like it's not THAT hot b/c of the breeze. great shopping mall in aruba that had a swimming pool on the roof..very developed country (island) .. check out the natural pool and baby beach.. do not take the helicopter tour though and don't do submarine b/c it was like one fish was around the whole time... snorkeling and jet skiing is fun.. but it's a place i'd go to relax more than running around and doing activities..downtown has a few clubs like senor frogs or mambo jambo n it's pretty good party for aruba but i didn't really care to go back a second time.. across the street are some bars like sopranos and chino latino, kinda was empty but good music i guess. overall riu is the best resort on the strip.. if you stay at any other resorts, you will be looking over riu the whole time!

We spent 6 nights at the Riu Palace for our honeymoon and loved every second of it. We were nervous about booking our honeymoon through an online company without ever talking to a live person, but we could not have been happier. We received one of the best rooms at the hotel, overlooking the AMAZING pool and crystal clear ocean where we watched the sun set from our balcony. Every member of the staff treated us like family and took care of our every want. My wife and I have traveled all over the world and we both could not be happier with our choice to honeymoon in Aruba. The Riu Palace hotel and especially the staff made our honeymoon a dream come true.

I am a frequent traveler to foreign countries and the Caribbean. I must say that the RIU was gorgeous!!! I had a wonderful time with my husband. It was so peaceful. I have seen better beaches in Puerto Plata, DR and Coco Cay, Bahamas. The water was still beautiful. BE CAUTIOUS WITH THE TAXIS. My husband and I had a horrible experience departing the hotel and returning to the airport. He dropped us off in a local town and had his cousin to bring my husband and I to the hotel so he could make more money from a larger party.

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had a great time! This was our first trip to Aruba but our second stay at a Riu Palace (the other the Las Americas in Cancun) and we have loved both of them. We were looking for a place to relax were we would basically not have to worry about anything, including food and drinks, and thats what we got and then some. The rooms and staff were great and the pier for snorkeling and sunset sail excursions was right next to the hotel which was a huge plus. Overall we had a great time and would surely visit this or any other Riu Palace again.

Everyone was so friendly and most helpful. The place was beautiful and the food outstanding! We went jet skiing and the water was fantastic, we also met some wonderful people from all over the world and hope to keep in touch with them. Hotel was great about helping us rent a jeep for the day which was fun and we got to really see Aruba.
