The customer service at this hotel was excellent. At the check-in counter, we were provided with wet hand towels and a glass of orange juice. The valet guy recommended a cheaper alternative to the valet parking at the hotel. The staff always greeted us when we walked through the lobby and held the front door for us upon entering/exiting. The rooms are great and modern looking even though it was an older hotel that was recently renovated. The hotel offers free beach towels and beach chairs for hotel guest use. There is a free continental breakfast, which is better than your typical continental breakfast and includes muffins, crossants, fresh fruit, cereal with regular or soy milk, and coffee/tea. The only downsides, which were relatively minor in nature, were 1) the website is a lot nicer looking than the hotel actually is inside. While the rooms do look like they do in the pictures, it's still not exactly at the level that the website depicts it to be, 2) the hotel is slightly further down the main street, Kalakaua Ave., than we would have preferred (further from the shopping and nicer part of Waikiki beach), however, this could be a good thing if you prefer being away from the crowds, and 3) the rooms only had these super thick comforters...unusual for a warm weather destination so you had to turn up the AC on high in order to compensate for the heavy blankets. We asked at the front desk and that was all they had.

Restaurant had good food at reasonable prices. Slow elevators.

We stayed at the Renew in late March 2009 and were delighted with it. All the positive comments that I had read from previous reviews were accurate especially the friendly, helpful staff, the comfortable accommodation (the bed and bedlinen were to die for!), its excellent location and the complimentary breakfast. It doesn't have a pool but the ocean is only yards away. We can certainly recommend it and if we pass through Honolulu again we will certainly visit.

This newer hotel reminds me of places in Europe with the furnishings and style. It was fun to explore something different instead of the same ole thing that most hotels look like. The bed was lush and the room had a flat screen TV, innovative light fixtures, high tech lighting system and the lobby and breakfast room was also very contemporary in design. The room was not the biggest but was sufficient. The location is just a 1/2 block off Kalakaua Ave. at the location of the park and beach. The rates are reasonable and they do have AAA discounts. Rates include a continental breakfast too. There's valet parking but no pool or other amenities. I'd definitely stay there again.

The Hotel: Very modern looking, I thought I was at luxury resort. They have valets that take care of your car, which works out really well. there is complimentary breakfast every morning in the lobby along with free newspapers, local and the wall street journal. The location is literally a block from the beach, so it was nice to be able to just wake up and jump in the ocean. The Staff: The staff was awesome, courteous, and very helpful. Whatever I needed they had. Beach chair, beach towels, etc. All of them were really nice. The Room: Very modern looking, clean, flat planel tv, that had a pc hooked up to it, so i didn't even need myl aptop. There was free wireless for my laptop when i wanted to watch tv and be on the web. Good AC, cool lighting fixtures, nice room setup. Helpful Hints: They said they would only change out your sheets if you requested them to be changed. I had a late flight out in the evening, so they let me store my bags there, and when I was ready to leave, they let me washup in a Hospitality/Complementary room. Overall great value, great stay, great experience.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Answered any questions that I had. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Great location. Beach is right across the street and many dining options within walking distance. Free breakfast every morning. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location, price, and individual service and welcome. Continental breakfast does not include fresh fruit. Lobby seating is limited. The staff at this hotel consistently go out of their way to make the guests feel welcomed and informed.

A gem in south Waikiki, the Hotel Renew has rooms that are truely well designed and appointed. The staff was very well informed, professional and courteous, the continental breakfast simple but delicious offering high quality fresh fruits and gourmet pastries. It's great that the Hotel Renew is just steps from the beach but away from the intensity of Kalakaua Blvd. I'll definitely return here on future trips to Honolulu.

This hotel has been BEAUTIFULLY renovated.. you will not mind retreating from the beach to come back to this modernly luxurious room, complete with a flat screen TV, free wireless internet and a bed more comfortable than the Hilton's. The lobby makes you feel like a rock star. On top of this, the staff are exceptionally nice, seemingly willingly to do anything (without request) to make our stay nicer... for example, gave my 3 year old daughter pencil crayons, paper, a clipboard, a lei and a box of cereal for her stay. A fruit basket, fresh flowers and other sweet treats were left in our room as surprises on a regular basis. The front desk staff very courteous and lent us beach towels, and beach toys and water float toys. Did I mention the hotel is right near the beach, too? I honestly can't imagine staying at any other hotel in Waikiki. I feel so SPOILED being here. Thank you to the staff for your generous Aloha spirit. I have no personal affiliation with this hotel, but I would recommend it wholeheartedly. My family loves it here.

It's a beautiful hotel, newly renovated. Very clean and nice rooms. The hotel staff was very freindly and helpful. Don't expect to find a gym, pool, or vending machines like a normal hotel though. The only downsides to the stay was the bad maid service and the noisy rooms (due to being close to Waikiki). Half the time, the maid forgot to give us pillow covers, shampoo, conditioner, wash clothes, etc. She also touched and moved our stuff around, which is unacceptable. Other than that, the stay was great!

Location was convenient to food, shops, beach and activities. Desperately needed renovations. Toilets not able to flush, no water from facets which is typical of something of this nature. Hotel had neither flashlights nor proper emergency lighting in the stairwells. It is no wonder that guests did not fall and seriously injure themselves. I carry a small flashlight which came in handy. Helped many guests in the stairwells. Did not see hotel staff or security crushing the property nor the halls, nor stairwell. The hotel was old and in dire need of a much needed facelift. Would not stay there again nor recommend it!

Excellent staff makes this place shine. Location is excellent close to everything on beach. Hotel tends to be noisy inside and out -- much of it is beyond hotel's control. Overall a very good experience!

I would rate the rooms and comfort better than any Hilton in Oahu. I've been to many hotels here and this one of the tops, especially for the rate. Great place. Staff is extremely friendly professional and adequate. Security doesn't hassle guests and is aware of who is registered. Too bad they dont have extended stay rates.

The staff at the hotel was great! They made me feel right at home and relaxed, assisted me with finding a local Kinkos for work, reviewed security tapes when I lost my credit card, they were great. They allowed me to look at other rooms to upgrade to and check in early so I could do some work. I loved the rooms, modern, clean, comfortable bed and quiet. The decor throughout the hotel and rooms was also great. The location was one block from the beach making it convenient to everything. There is no restaurant or room service, but plenty of places just outside the hotel. I would definately stay there again.

Did a great job during the earthquake on 10/15/06! Way to go, keep up the good work! During my stay at this hotel was during the earthquake on 10/15/06. This hotel went out of their way to make sure everyone was safe and had plenty to eat. You couldn't have asked to be in a nicer environment. My parent's hotel did nothing for them. Way to go ocean tower. Can't wait to come back soon. Thanks for making such a terrifying experience go so smoothly!

There is a lot to be said for service, and they definitely provide it. Rooms are clean and quite adequate; new renovations will be beautiful when complete. Location is wonderful. Can't be beat - feels like you are staying with family!

All the staff was friendly, the room I was in was very restfully designed and pretty, and the morning continental breakfast had tasty pastries, fresh fruit, good juice, and some of the best granola I've ever had. On the other hand, the lighting in the room was extremely dim -- even at it's brightest, I felt like the room never reached well lit. The room was also very small (my fault -- I requested a double to save money). So small that there were no drawers for clothes -- instead there were some awkwardly shaped low shelves in the side of the poorly lit closet. The hotel is a very short walk from the beach, on the quieter and IMO nicer side of Waikiki, although of course, there's no part of Waikiki that's really quiet. It's close to a bunch of useful bus stops for getting around town, and only a 2 mile walk from the Diamond Head State Park. I didn't use them, but I'm told that the hotel had beach towels, beach mats and beach chairs to lend out. It did not have snorkeling gear to lend out, however, and there was no pool or fitness center in the hotel -- the only amenities were the pretty rooms, the friendly staff and the great breakfasts. They did have free wifi in the rooms, which I used, but it was very slow/spotty. This may be better in other parts of the hotel (I was in 801), but of course, I don't know. It's a no smoking hotel, and the fire alarm did go off several times one of the nights I was there -- reportedly someone was smoking in their room and spoiled the night for the rest of us, but I can't blame the hotel for that. Would I stay there again? Possibly. I'd want at least a king sized room and better lighting.

The hotel rooms were clean and were a good size for the three of us. All of the staff at the hotel are personable and extremely helpful. Leonor made sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay including microwave, kettle in room, beach mats, toys and snorkel gear for going to the beach. On our departure Leonor came in on her day off and send us off with breakfast, boxes of chocolate and handmade leis for us all. The service was fantastic and would recommend this hotel to anyone especially if you have a young family like we do.
