Giran a la derecha dirección Badajoz por la Cuesta de San Vicente. A 200 m. de Plaza de España se encuentra el hotel. This hotel, although a 3 star, treats you like a 4 star. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms large. It is situated near the Royal Palace and between two subway stations (Principe Pio and Plaza de Espana). Downtown is less than a 10 minute walk and some of the parks are right across the street. Most of the staff speaks English, and they were very helpful if you need directions or tourist information. The hotel does serve breakfast, but we opted to eat breakfast in the nearby, local resturants.

I travel to Madrid just about every year and my experience at Principe Pio was really good. The room was comfortable and very clean. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, just a couple of blocks from the metro station, across the street from the Royal Palace, and a walking distance from the Gran Vía. I would definitely stay there again!

We were very positively surprised about the room and bathroom - both were very nice and clean. We expected less from looking at the homepage. We placed pricing in "good" instead of "average" as we got a very good price by booking through Hotel Club. Our stay would have been considerably more expensive if we had booked directly at the hotel.

We paid an average of £60 a night which was really good value for this hotel , would not pay the full price of double that , nice clean comfy hotel though , only 10 - 15 mins walk from centre , loads of bars and restaurants . Tip -- take metro from airport ( 2 euros ) to Principe Pio station and walk 5 mins to hotel .

The hotel was comforatable enough but has seen better times. The room was comfortable but basic - for the price. The location should have been great so near to the palace but the 1970s road scheme has cut it off and so the area has got a bit run down. Staff are very friendly but the breakfast (not a strong Spanish thing) was not up to mch - for the price!

Hotel is quite central...10 mins walk from Plaza de España. and main staitions.Good value on a special offer,,which was because they were redecorating..but breakfast was 10e per person and not nice a all

Only stayed room only so cannot comment on the food.A very good location , opposite the Grand Palace.It's was probably a Grand Hotel in it's day, however it's looks a little bit tired tat present.However for the money it's well worth staying.
