Located close to Barcelona’s waterfront, the Olympic Village, the famous Las Ramblas and the Plaza Catalunya is the Principal Hotel. Its location in the historic area of the city also places it a short distance from the Gothic Quarter and the Eixample area where the buildings of Gaudi still stand. This location makes this Barcelona hotel a wonderful accommodation for travelers of all kinds.
The Principal Hotel is located at Junta De Comerc 8 – 12 which is in the center of the city.
There are 114 rooms in the Principal Hotel and all are completely soundproofed, and provide luxurious amenities to guests including LCD flat panel televisions with satellite service, personal safes, spa bath tubs, and a complimentary breakfast buffet each morning.
The hotel is actually three historical structures dating back to the 1860s, and all have been renovated in order to provide the beautiful charm of antiquity with the appeal of modern function. The Principal Hotel is also home to an impressive art collection. very simple, yet newly renovated , clean and in an excellent location... i was pleasantly surprised. I've been to many european hotels and at that price range the hotel is excellent and well worth it. I have allready recommended it to my friends who are leaving to barcelona soon.

The beds are very firm. Could do with an option for an extra madrass. Rooms with window toward the elevator or rooms where the window is a couple of meters from the neighbors window ,and with hardly any daylight should be explained to customer before and come with a reduced price. Great breakfast! Friendly reception.

Excellent stay at this great hotel. Staff very accommodating, rooms superb, clean and well furnished. All very handy for central Barcelona. Definately be back again.

Location is absolutely ideal - just off Las Ramblas. The bedroom was very small but it did have a TV & Kettle which was great. We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment. Got wake up calls and taxis booked by friendly staff. Perfect hotel for young people travelling on a budget, very competitive prices.

this hotel is in a great location, just off Las Ramblas, and close to everything you need. Great breakfast (usually included) and free internet. Nice clean rooms with tv and air con, goo service. Good value for $. would recommend.

Very clean and excellent location. It is only a 5 minute walk to La Rambla, which is one of the best location to start discovering the wonders of Barcelona. Breakfast buffet is great and they serve the best bread rolls! The only downside is one can hear everything that is going on outside the guestroom. But other than that, it is ok. I will use this hotel again for it's price and location.

this hotel is located in the heart af barcelona. The room was nice and clean. Breakfast was fine. Free internet sevice. The very best was the terasse on the roof

The location of the hotel is excellent to visit Barcelona as it is very close to the Ramblas yet not on the Ramblas itself. Staff were very friendly and service at hotel was very good. I would highly recommend this hotel to a friend visiting Barcelona.

very good hotel for a 2 star hotel. They made renovation in some rooms so maybe stars coming more? Rooms really nice. Good location and easy to find

Just 5 minutes walk from the Ramblas, this hotel was a great find. Hot buffet breakfast, comfortable rooms (double beds in the twin room) and newly refitted bathroom (HUGE shower!). Also free internet and fantastic service from the reception staff. Highly recommended.

We thorough;y enjoyed our stay at the Principal Hotel. The location was great, very central to everything, right by La Rambla. The room was very clean and modern, very comfortable and the staff were friendy and helpful. I don't see why this is only a 2 star hotel. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone else.

We would highly recommend the Principal Hotel. Location was great and the staff were excellent and incredibly helpful. Our room did not have a view, but was comfortable with excellent sound proofing.

Reception was efficient and helpful. Location is great so near the centre of La Rambla. 2 minimarkets down the road for the essentials. Hot and cold breakfast was OK but the coffee was the worst I have had in Spain and I live there! Kettle and cups were unexpected though 1 tea bag and nothing else, take your own or nip down to the minimarket. Our room was clean modern with a little balcony. Our friends had a good size room but no balcony. Next time I would check other rooms before unpacking. Overall I would recommend and go back.

Unfortunatelly our bed was really to small for 2 persons. Also the bathroom was much bigger than the rest of the room. Lucky for us we didn't stay much in our room, exept sleeping, so we didn't really complained. Next time we would appreciate a bigger bed ;-)

This hotel is a well-kept secret in Barcelona. Location is perfect - 5 min. walk to the center of activities yet very quiet at night because it's on a side street. There is a mini-supermarket (Condi) on the same street about 50 meter away. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is average with good selections. Room size is average European with a very clean and spacious bathroom. Free wireless internet if you have your own computer and free computers (3) in the lounge next to the lobby if you don't. I don't understand why this hotel is reated 2.5 stars. Ok, it doesn't have a swimming pool but who goes to the center of Barcelona and swim in a hotel anyway?!
