The hotel was very property was very large, it had to pools, a 24hr fitness center, and a fairly decent complimentary breakfast. The hotel room was nicely decorated and we received a wonderfully located room, with private access to the pool from the room. The guest service was excellent and my wife and I enjoyed the surprising quietness of the room, even though it was located right on the street. The only thing I was displeased with was the parking fee that they forgot to mention until checkout, especially since the only convenient spot, when we returned in the evening, happened to be on the street off of the property. Everything else was wonderful, and my wife and I enjoyed our self.

The hotel for the money was awful. Noisy, cold, no coffee/tea maker, the door did not close properly so you could see the outdoors through the frame even when locked. The heater was a small foot square in the wall area type, that barely heated the room after an hour. This room was on the ground level, and you could hear the people upstairs very clearly. We had a nice view though and a patio right outside our door.

We so enjoyed our stay! Our room we so pleasant, and the gounds were beautiful! My husband has been on anticancer treatment, so this was a great place for him to enjoy sitting outside and looking at the ocean, and the harbor. The room was also very pleasant for him to relax in! The location was also great for stepping outside and walking along the waterfront, or taking the downtown shuttle down State St. The only thing we did not like was the extra charge for parking. One night we went to dinner, came back, and couldn't find a space to park, even though we paid for it!

I made a reservation for two nights for my husband who had just retired from 30 years of working for the same company. I was talked into upgrading the room I had originally planned to book. When we got there we were not given a room that looked alike an upgrade at all but a down grade. It was clean and all but not something worth the money I was paying. I asked for another room closer to the pool and they did move us to a wonderful room which was what I had been expecting. They also were suppose to change the price for the first night to average rate which they didn't and I had to ask them to correct which it took two people to get it done. I planned to go back and stay again for a concert so I will hopefully be given a good room on check in. Can't ask for a better location to town and ocean. Make sure to ask for better room if first one does not meet your expectations.

The pictures of the hotel are very misleading. The staff was very friendly and the bed and pillows were awesome but the room and location of the hotel is not "right on the beach". Parking at a hotel you just paid 260 (weekend) a night for is 9 a day. We were in room 175 which was right by the street and it was very noisy. The hotel is very old and they do try to take good care of it but according to the pictures and the description it is new and shiny. You pretty much have everything around you that you need, stores, restaraunts and such so don't use the mini bar! They charge you for everything including music on the TV. Overall it was not that bad of a stay but that is becasue I love Santa Barbara but I would never stay at the Hotel Oceana again. I just feel like if you are going to charge that much for something, you should give the people what they paid for! They need to redo their website!!!! If I seen true pictures and description of the hotel I would have never booked it.

The hotel appears to have undergone recent remodeling. The rooms were fresh and bright with crisp linens on the bed. I had one of my best night's sleep ever! My room opened onto a terrace from which I could sit and look at the beach, ocean and marina - awesome! From check-in until check-out, the service was exceptional, friendly and professional. I looked in at the fitness area and swimming pool - wishing I had more time to enjoy both of these. There are many good restaurants in the area and most are just a short walk from the hotel. This in no way detracts from the hotel. The morning continental breakfast was nicely done. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and was very happy with my choice.

Location. My room seemed to be the only one where the window faced a wall. Nice location near State street shopping and the beach/pier. Good size room but my room looked out at a wall.

I'll start with the good....Great location for activities by the beach. The pools were clean and nice and warm with great surroundings. Now for the bad, I don't think I have ever stayed at a hotel that I had to pay for parking...Also there was mold in our tub and around the windows and out room smelled of mold. Our carpet was very dirty and had some big snags in it. We literally had a plastic toilet seat!!!! I would have to agree with some of the other reviews, this was a glorified motel that charged a lot of money for the location. The breakfast was good, but the room in which they serve it is much to small for the amount of rooms that they have. There were people walking over each other and no place to sit down and have breakfast. And no air conditioning in the rooms, this is truly needed because even though it is not hot there, it is however very humid. I'm from the desert, not used to the wet weather would have loved to have had an air conditioner so that everything was not wet. And last but not least, no coffee after breakfast......We called the front desk one night and asked for coffee and were directed to the local 7-11....Would have liked to have had a coffee pot in the room.

The location of the hotel was excellent. Our room was located at the very end of the hall. It was a little too secluded. Hotel location and room decor was one of my top choices. It felt like I was at home yet away from home at the same time. Standard room is small but cute. However, one of our towels was not completely clean. Another negative is, when I called room service, nobody delivered what we wanted, then I called a second time and nobody responded. Otherwise its a cute little place.

I guess this isn't uncommon in the Santa Barbara area, but we were very surprised to get a room with no air conditioning. We ended up leaving the windows open to the room 24 hours/day. This made me a bit nervous at night while we were sleeping since we were on the first floor and it would be have been easy for someone to cut through the screen and get in...but all was fine. It was in a pretty nice area and we had a view of the ocean from our room behind the registration office. We checked in at 5pm Friday and got to choose from a few different room options. I was very happy with the room we selected. It wasn't immaculately clean by some standards...but was very "beach town-y" and wasn't unlike rooms I've been in Hawaii. The staff was wonderful. Very friendly and eager to help. I'd stay there again.

The rooms were well kept, fun, and relaxing. The atmosphere of the hotel was perfect. Nothing This hotel was the best hotel we stayed at this trip. It met all of our needs, was quite close to States Ave and was across the street from the beach. The staff were very helpful in meeting our needs and giving directions. I wish we had stayed here longer.

The Hotel Oceana is just as lovely as Santa Barbara. We had a very large room with 2 queen size beds on the ground floor next to one of the pools. The ocean was literally across the street. The comfortable beds had designer upholstered headboards that matched the curtains at the windows. There was lots of room for a family of 4 to spread out. The garden outside out window had tiny jasmine flowers blooming that you could smell inside the room, and grounds of the entire property were beautifully maintained. The staff were friendly, charming, and went out of their way to be helpful. Everyone we interacted with, from the front desk manager to the maid for our room, was mellow and easy to talk to. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the charming breakfast room. We are already scheming how to find time to take a trip back!

My college daughter and I took a train trip down from Oregon, and the Hotel Oceana was perfect for our needs. From the Amtrak station, we walked two blocks down to the beach, and then two blocks over to the hotel. It couldn't have been easier! The hotel is right on the main waterfront street and has a beautiful view of the ocean. We loved the updated, trendy decor and the choice of swimming pools. We also loved the breakfast that was like eating in a French patisserie. I'd like to go back to the Hotel Oceana with my husband next time!

The price from Priceline.com and its location to the beach. The room was cramped, but it is an older hotel. Great location and the price from Priceline.com made the tightness of the room and bathroom bearable. Very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We have stayed here before and will come back again, when the price is right.
