The carousel bar is of course something you want to experience. The room was kind of small and the television was not particularly nice. The minibar/fridge is intense you can't lift up the product for more than 30 seconds without being charged. They need to take it easy! The pool area is really nice but the pool itself is small. It's a great place to lounge and catch some rays. The gym is one of the best I've seen at a hotel. When you first walk in you're greeted by a COLD blast of air conditioning but then a wonderful lobby area that you could sit in and lounge for a while. The entrance is two sets of doors which is annoying because the bell hop only holds one open and you're on your own for the other. They really should consider revolving doors.

The doormen were polite and prompt. The hotel has a beautiful front lobby. It invited you to sit and relax and people watch. Check in was breeze, and we were able to check in early. The room was clean, linens were of good quality, and the bed was comfortable. Our room was on the 15th floor, so the view was great. The rotating Carousel Bar off the lobby was a fun place to hang out and the bartenders were very friendly. The rooftop pool was clean and the deck area nicely landscaped. We watched sunset from the roof patio and it was very relaxing before a night on the town. The best thing was its convenient location near both Canal and Bourbon Streets. Everything we wanted to see was either within walking distance, or a short walk to the streetcar stop. The staff was very accommodating - anything we needed, we'd call the desk for and it was to our room within a few minutes. The hotel had roaming security walking each floor at night so it was very safe. The only negatives were 1) the bathroom was so narrow that the toilet had to be installed at an angle and you could not open the door if my spouse was on the commode. 2) The concierge through whom I arranged dinner plans was a bit snooty. Visitors would not know where streets/buildings were located, so I was put-off by her rolling of the eyes, and 3) the room minibar is both not refrigerated and has sensored shelves, so if you even move items around to see what is available you could get charged for it.

The location of this property is fantastic - you are very near many of the landmarks, but not so close that you have to deal with the undesirables. The staff is very attentive and check in was a breeze even though several groups showed up at the same time. The hotel decor was great - definitely not a generic feel - you definitely knew you were in New Orleans.

On March 21, 08 we made and received a confirmation of our double + upgrade to deluxe room via book-it online. Upon our arrival 03/28/08 to the Monteleone our attempted check-in with staff Tine, and her self proclaimed front desk manager did not have our room reserved. The manager a rather rude man, told us it was our 3rd party booking agent was to blame. They offered a standard room w/rollaway. We left. Now they are claiming we never showed up. This fight for my refund will continue. In the meantime WE DO NOT RECOMMEND HOTEL MONTELEONE at all or in any way.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, we were treated like royalty. The hotel was clean,and the saff were friendly. We were visiting for the Essence Music Festival for 3 days and the best part was returning back to the hotel to their soft queen bed. I would definitly stay at this hotel again and recommend it to my family & friends.

The hotel was nice but I do not see how it rated so many stars. Nothing that special that I could see. Rooms are small as I expected for such an old historic hotel but they were not appointed very elegantly. (lovely bathrobe) Good location if you want to walk the French Quarter. Conciege was a great help in booking a plantation tour. The spa was very small and when I booked an appointment for myself and my daughter they failed to mention that despite both of us having a 9 o'clock apointment, with ony one technician, one appointement was at 9 and the other was at 10 o"clock

Very convenient, but not right on the bustle of Bourbon Street. Staff was very friendly, helpful. Pool area is small but enjoyable. I'll check here first next time we're headed to NOrleans.

We were interested in a post Katrina look at the city (finally). Walked a great deal, ate in wonderful restaurants, visited the Ninth Ward. Hotel location was excellent, but a large convention was staying there, noisy and crowded. Staff were good in general, except for one dreadful concierge and a weekend bartender.

This hotel is the loudest hotel I have ever stayed at. Every night when we went to sleep, the noise out on the street was beyond loud. The windows were so thin that you could hear every conversation, fight, ambulance, car alarm, and police siren throughout the night. We were constantly getting woke up. I will not stay there again.

A nice historic hotel conveniently located in the French Market and within walking distance of many attractions. The staff was extra helpful and the bed was comfy. The room was always very clean though ours was VERY small (chest drawers opened up into the foot of the bed.) We were told that our room size was the exception and that other rooms are larger. Still, it was a good value for the money. We would stay at this hotel again except next time we will request a little larger room.

It was very accommodating for all 8 of us - ages 20 -80! Rooms were great, staff was excellent, no waits, the restaurant food was wonderful and the piano, carousel lounge and drinks couldn't have been better. The location was superb to Bourbon and Canal streets and all of French Quarters. I will always look to Monteleone for hotel accomodations.

In a new city, the Hotel Monteleone became a home away from home. From the doorman greeting us when we first arrived, to the bellman who was most informative and helpful, to the consierge, to housekeeping , who kept our room in order, to X who served us breakfast each morning, who you must visit for a massage, each of them contributed to making us feel so welcome and special. We held a private party one evening and everything was lovely. I just missedX in the cafe one day. He is there frequently and his staff is most happy to tell you what a wonderful man he is. He opened his hotel to the staff after Katrina and allowed them to live there until they had other accomodations. That is someone who understands integrity. I look forward to my next visit to N'wlens and the Monteleone.

The Monteleone was wonderful in every respect except one. The room was nice, clean, and had everything I needed for the weekend. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The location was central to all activities in dowtown New Orleans. The exercise room's view was spectacular. It overlooks the curve in the Miss. River in front of the St. Louis Cathedral. The one problem was the room location. My room (10th floor) was at the far end of the hotel closest to Canal Street and I heard a lot of noise at night; sirens, people singing, street noise, and yelling. The noise was sporatic, but noticeable. Make sure your room is away from this location.

We just returned from a 4 night trip to New Orleans. The Hotel Monteleone was lovely. The rooms were clean , the beds comfy and the staff very accomodating. The only problems were that the bathrooms were very small. No shelf space. Our toiletries kept falling in the toilet or on the floor. The other issue was the construction going on in the hotel, which we were unaware of when booking the trip. Fortunately it did not start till after 8am, because it was very noisy. We are early risers, but for people who wanted to sleep later, it was a problem. The location , on Royal St, was perfect, as Royal is one of the nicest streets in the Quarter. The hotel looked beautiful with all the Christmas decorations. The rooftop pool was very pretty but it was a bit too cool outside to make use of it. We did not eat at any of the restaurants, but others in our group did , and enjoyed them.

My friend and I just returned from New Orleans for the Essence Music Festival. The hotel was in close proximity to everything. If you aren't able to walk, a short cab ride should get you there. The room was a bit small, but very comfortable and nicely decorated. We will definately make Monteleone our spot next

Perfect location (in the French Quarter), near Bourbon but not near the noise. We loved the hotel. The pool was small (mostly guests were standing in the pool with drinks to stay cool). The carosel bar is really special and we enjoyed the piano bar one evening. The Bell staff really made us feel welcome, and [...], the concierge helped us to book tour on several occasions.

The hotel was lovely and we enjoyed the hotel experience until time for check out. We waited over an hour for the valet to bring our car around. We happened to visit on a very busy weekend and the hotel was full. Apparently, due to limited space, the cars are stored on several stories and are brought down on elevators which makes the whole process very lengthy. I just wish the staff had let us know when we checked in so we could have planned for the long wait instead of sitting in the lobby for over an hour. (We could not return to the room since it was past check out time.) Had we known, we could have sat down to lunch in the hotel dining room but instead we just sat waiting and waiting. Other than that, everything else was fine.

Three of my friends and I spent a long Girls' Weekend in the Big Easy. The hotel was beautiful...with a lovely facade and a breathtaking rooftop pool area. The Cafe had suprisingly good food, with good presentation. The Carosel Bar is a must see, and the Bloody Mary a must order. The rooms are not large, which is to be expected in a historic hotel. The bathrooms, while small...were either stone or mirrors...making the room seem larger. The beds are VERY comfortable, using the three-sheet method of making the beds. The fully-stocked mini bar makes no allowances for keeping water cool (the only drawback). The spa is very small with limited services, but the technicians are extremely professional and friendly. The manicures, pedicures, massages and facials were a perfect treat for a girls' weekend. If we return to New Orleans, would we stay here again. Yes!
