Pros: Clean and updated room and bathroom Helpful staff Close to public transportation and shopping Lots of eateries close by Con: Very close to Ikebokur station, but for a tourist I think the Shinjuku and Roppongi are better places to be based out of

I can't emphasize strongly enough how great the location of this hotel is!! It is just a couple of minutes to Ikebukuro station - a major hub for trains and subways. Right outside the hotel are numerous restaurants and two convenience stores. At Ikebukuro station there 2 huge Department stores, and within walking distance is the Sunshine City shopping area. This was my second trip to Japan. The first time I stayed in Tokyo just 2 days - this time was for 2 weeks so we could spend more time exploring the different areas of Tokyo: Akihabara, Asakusa, Harajuku, Ueno - etc. My first trip I stayed at the Tokyo Hilton in Shinjuku - and I thought that location was great - but this one was far superior, especially if you are planning on using the hotel as a base for doing some exploring of the city. Rooms with one double bed are compact, but comfortable. My daughter and I stayed in a room with two double beds, and it was what I consider to be a good size. We were on the 23rd floor, and on two clear days had the most amazing view of Mount Fuji!! Staff at the hotel were great - and helped us book day trips, and gave us directions etc. Reviews of the hotel that I read prior to going weren't glowing enough, as far as I'm concerned. I would love to return to the Metropolitan, and highly recommend it.

Loved the hotel. Updated rooms that are very clean and reasonably spacious. Bathroom comes with one of them 'high-tech' japanese toilets. Lots of eateries around. The hotel is very close to Ikebokuru station which is a major hub. But I feel that Shinjuku and Roppongi Hills are better locations for tourists to be based out of.

The Crowne Plaza Metropolitan Hotel is in a great spot. It is right by the Ikebukuro Station which is on the Yamanote line. It is not far from Sunshine City and other touristy places. Also, there are places to eat within walking distance. The service was fantastic - so polite and accomodating. Although the rooms were tiny, I would definitely return.
