The hotel was extremely small the rooms were tiny even the elevators were extra small. From our seventh floor room we had a beautiful view of a brick wall. The cleaning service was not one, wiping out the glasses then placing them back on the counter.

When we were unhappy with the tiny room, they moved us. The large room they moved us to smelled of mildew. Pillows were way too soft, bathroom was not clean and there was a bug-yuck. Perfect location to Times Sq, tiny elevator and rooms - don't expect at least a queen - most rooms have only double beds, bathroom smelled of mildew, bug in the room -Otherwise, modern & updated.

Stayed at the Mela for a long birthday celebration weekend. Great location as it is within walking distance to Times Square and the Theatre district but, just far enough way to keep the noise level down. Rooms are small but, very clean and comfortable. Don't pack a lot as there is very little storage space! Front desk staff were polite and very accomodating. We were under the impression that the restaurant shown on their website was in the hotel itself. However, upon arriving, we noticed that it was actually a door or two down the street from the hotel. Overall, a nice stay. I would recommend it and would probably return.

I was very impressed with the renovation. The room was as if the building were constructed last year. It was very quiet for being only a block from Times Square (10th-floor room). There were TWO AC units allowing for different temperatures in the sleeping area and at the desk. The bathroom was small but modern and immaculate. The shower was particularly nice. The room was comfortable and adequate in size. The lobby is almost nonexistent, and consisted only of a couple of couches near the elevators. The elevators were very small, but waits were not long. I'd go back.

Friendly, and clean. Room was too small in a corner, not sufficient air conditioning. Air conditioning did not work most of time, very hot. Room was substandard. Hotel staff was nice, friendly. I believe hotels are putting aside a few rooms for Priceline that are not up to rest of hotel. If you wanted ice you had to order and tip each time.

We've stayed in NYC numerous times and the double Mela room was the smallest by far. There was not enough room for my husband and I to pass one another and no where to put luggage. We asked for a larger room and were given the upgrade with no extra charge. The staff was really terrific. The larger room was still small but perfectly adequate. Thank goodness for the wonderful Mela staff!

The accomodations were comfortable and adequate. However, the room was just too small, resulting in a tight constricted feeling at all times. There was no where to sit or rest in the room except the bed. The staff was very pleasant and readily available for advice, etc. No dining on site, but several good restaurants adjacent ...everything was realitively close.

Modern, clean, half-block from ABC studios. Construction, no lobby, no restaurant, staff clueless. The hotel was clean and modern but while we were there the city was doing construction on the street out front. Watch out: There was an additional charge for twin beds- $50 per night! Room was very clean, new, and modern. Do not relay on front desk staff for info.

Staff went well out of there way when they found out we had just got engaged. Upgraded us to a suite "just because". Rooms were great, bathrooms were clean and addicted to H2O products now. Umbrellas were complimentary when it started to rain, and knew our names every time we came and went. Location was perfect! Absolutely will be going back!

Hotel Mela combines great service and great location. Check In/Out was quick and smooth. Located between Broadway and The Rockefeller, pretty much everything is in walking distance.

The staff. No closet, no chair, no room. With small carry-on suitcase on floor, closet/armoire could not open. No chair in the room. No built in closet, only an armoire. One cabinet with TV on top had huge assortment of items for sale that got in the way in this cramped space. Full bed despite requesting queen bed to hotel directly prior to check-in. I am used to NYC hotels and the limited space that comes with hotel stays, but this one was the smallest I have ever experienced in approx 50 trips over the last few years.

Its a great hotel but the rooms are way too small, even with a superior double - the bed felt like it was a single and the room was claustrophobic. Even the elevators are way too small.Great if you're there by yourself but not if there's two of you. Would hate to see how big the suites are compared to the room we had.The staff are very good and there's a great rest. next to the hotel plus a great italian joint 3 doors down :-)

The Mela Hotel was very close to Times Square and lots of great dining. We were 1/2 block from either 6th or 7th Av. and just stepped that short distance to a huge choice of restaurants. The bed was extremely comfortable, great mattress and linens. When we were leaving the staff even sent a young man to walk with us the half block to catch a cab on 6th Avenue. Totally unexpected and way above the call of duty. We ordered breakfast in the next morning and it was delivered on time, hot and tasty. The only reason for the somewhat satisfied on fitness is because we didn't use the facilities, but, it looked nice in passing.

Location. Construction noise. Small but has everything. Great location. Restaurant next door is very good. Construction noise was a problem Saturday morning. Directions given by front desk were not real good in one instance.

Loved this hotel. Went to the US Open and chose this hotel for it's location to the 7 train. So happy I did. The staff was amazing and the room (although tiny-but hey it's NYC) was fantastic! We actually had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and it too was wonderful.

I had a wonderful time at the Hotel Mela. The staff was very accomadating and the hotel beautiful and clean. The rooms were a bit small. The beds are very tiny and I'm glad my 6'5 husband wasn't on this trip as he would have hung off the bed by about a foot. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants to be in the heart of Manhatten whether on business or for pleasure.

Extremely comfy beds and great little stereo with MP3 player. Did not replace the empty toiletries each day.

The rooms are not large, but they are clean, great location and reasonable rate.
