Overall Great Hotel! Close to Pier, Beach and State Street. Very Charming old mission style hotel. Great Room size and king size bed. Our 2 year old daughter had a blast. Great restaurant inside hotel. Wish we had more time to take advantage of all that there is to do in Santa Barbara. Next time would get ocean view with balcony.

While the hotel itself had character and the staff was friendly, the rooms left a bit to be desired. The toilet and shower were in a small room and the circulation fan was broken and it would not go on, so no ventilation! The towels shedded and left lint all over you, no matter what you did. The bed was comfortable and the room in general was nice. If the place had a little TLC, it would be great.

If you want to be close to the beach this is a great hotel. Just cross the street and you are on the beach. Our room had a great view of the water and even being on the busy street the noise level at night was not bad. The service was great and we would definitely stay here again.

The last time I stayed at the hotel, we rec'd complimentary breakfast and gas cards. The Web site implied guests would receive, but these were not made available during our stay.

Just stayed for one night, but when we entered the room my husband exclaimed, "Score!". It was really a nice room with a great view and the sound of the surf.

All of the staff at Hotel Mar Monte were very friendly. The parking attendant/bell hop was helpful by giving us a map of Santa Barbara that showed all the major streets and attractions. Overall it was a very relaxing trip. The hotel is only a short walk from the zoo and directly across the street from the beach and a playground. Perfect location for those with kids. The wharf and harbor are only about 2.5 miles or less away, as well as State Street, the main street for shopping and dining. The only thing that we didn't like was the price of the food at the hotel restaurant, Bistro 1111. Breakfast, while delicious, was almost $40 for just two of us.

The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had to call for housekeeping issues several times but they were very quick to remedy the problem.

The room was nicely appointed, was clean, and had a nice partial view of the ocean, at least our room did. My wife found the smell of the cleaning products too strong, and had to sleep with the windows open. Also, be aware that the hotel sits right on Cabrillo Hwy, so if the windows are open to enjoy the fresh air, there is a LOT of vehicle noise (and a barking dog that night). It's not a bad stay for the money, but there are a lot of hotels in that area, so we'll probably try one of those next time.

The hotel itself was excellent. However, the staff left a great deal to be desired, especially at check-in. Very frustrating.

For its location, this property is a great value. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was not the most accomodating I have seen, but were still friendly.

The location of the Hotel Mar Monte could not be better--the Pacific Ocean on one side and views of the mountains on the other side. The room was comfortable but noise from people upstairs was annoying, as well as street noise below. We needed to leave early to participate in the Santa Barbara Half Marathon so we ordered breakfast for 6:30 a.m. We finally canceled room service at 7:00 as we had to leave.

The Hotel Mar Monte was an excellent hotel in both visual and affordable value. With its location being right at the beach front, the stay at Hotel Mar Monte was unforgettable and is a number one hotel on the list to stay at when visiting Santa Barbara.

The hotel is located right on the ocean, less than a mile from downtown Santa Barbara. All the amenities and the staff are excellent. The room was a nice size and very comfortable. And downtown Santa Barbara has everything.

Hotel Mar Monte has it all. Location, spacious rooms with comfy beds and excellent maid and room service options. The staff was equally exceptional from the valet to the front desk clerk. However I had a horrible experience towards the very end of my stay with the assistant manager. I accidentally left a few garments hanging in the closet to my room. I came back to the hotel several hours after check out to retrieve them when I was whole heartedly refused my own clothing! I argued with the manager for several minutes as to why I thought it wasn't necessary for them to mail me my clothing when clearly I was there in person to retrieve them myself. Needless to say what very well could have been one of my most delightful hotel experiences ended in a terrible debacle with management.

all of the other times we had stayed we were in the main hotel. on sunday when we checked in we were placed in the other building which was a little depressing. we then continued to pursue being switched to the main buildiing and finally afater much insistence we were placed in the main area which is nicer.

The Hotel Mar Monte had very limited parking and was very overpriced for the accommodations.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Mar Monte in Santa Barbara. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was very roomy. I did need to move a table into the bathroom as there was no counter (just a sink) so I had nowhere to place my toiletries. The pool area was wonderful and the view of the ocean was priceless! I walked down to the beach and all around the area. Easy access to shopping on State Street and bike rentals. I will definitely stay there again.

This is an old hotel but very clean. The room was spacious. The only thing I would put a minus on was that since we got the room discounted...we were on the third floor at the end adjacent to several rooftop roaring air conditioners and above the kitchen from the restaurant. The proximity to the beach, pier, other hotels and State Street are within walking distance. The location is super. I would stay there again but would hope for a better room location the next time.

We all agreed that the beds were the most comfortable we have had. The rooms are nice sized and have a beautiful view of the ocean. The location is great you can get to the beach easily and there are restaurants within walking distance. They have a great restaurant on site. Staff was friendly and helpful.
