Machavelli Palace was a great location for us. The staff was very nice and helpful. We expected some things about the hotel to be quite different---but overall, our stay was satisfactory.

The hotel clerk was surley and insisted on keeping our passports until ""later"". When I protested, she made an ugly face (as though she had encountered this resistance before ) and pulled ours out of a big box full of passports and made a copy of it and handed the originals back to us. The place looked shabby and in need of paint and updating.

Our stay was very enjoyable, we were in Florence for one night and visited a lot of must-sees in the 2 days that we were there. Free breakfast was a nice inclusion, and the proximity to the train station was key in our decision making process. A great value for what we paid for it!!

Proximity to train station. This hotel was excellent. It was extremely close to the train station in Florence. It was also a short walk to some of the other main sites in Florence that I wanted to see. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would recommend is for the staff to have the air conditioning turned on in the room before the guests arrive. I would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family. Also, great restaurant close to the restaurant.

The Staff was friendly (in the Reception and Breakfast room and Cleaning ladies). The room was spacious enough for two persons and it was cleaned every day. The Towels were changed every day. The breakfast gave a very good start for the day. All the best: the View was to the Duomo and San Lorenzo Church. Ofcourse this wiev is not possible from all the rooms. We´ll recommend this hotel.

Machiavelli Palace is in a great location to see the sights in Florence. I arrived by train and it is within walking distance to the train station. The Duomo and Uffizi Gallery are both within a 15 minute walk.

I've stayed at this hotel in the past and have liked it. This was the first time I stayed alone and was surprised by how small the room was. The floors are tile and sound reverberates through the building. It overlooked a busy side street, so the crowd noises also filtered in through the window. Some throw rugs would do wonders for mitigating some of that. They did have the most affordable internet of any hotel I've stayed at in Europe: 8 euros for 24 hours. You obtain a card from the front desk. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Also, they have a pretty good breakfast buffet. They have a decent coffee machine, but stay away from the "north american coffee" option - it's truly bad.

Good value. Close to train station. Friendly and helpful staff. Older looking accommodations. Close to shopping, train station and good restaurants. Good internet service. Helpful staff. On the down side, furniture was older looking. not much in perks.

They let us check-in at 9:30 a.m. The room was clean and relatively spacious, also quiet. The furnishings seem a bit dated and worn. Machiavelli's Palace suited our needs admirably. We could walk with our bags to and from the rail station. We could also walk easily to all the major sites. In our room toward the back of the hotel we did not hear street noise.
