The Hotel Luxer Amsterdam is located at the edge of the Red Light district. It IS in the district, but near the edge. It is a fast, easy, 5-minute walk to Central Station, but it is just far enough away that you won't hear trains or traffic. As mentioned elsewhere, the staff are a little indifferent. However, we asked for a quiet room, and they did their best to accomodate. We basically had no complaints but we just wanted to let you all know that as of the end of June, 2009, there is still major construction going on basically next door. This won't be a problem on evenings or weekends, but if you like to sleep in or hang out in your room during the day, it will be a problem. Also, the walls here are really thin, we were able to easily hear what was going on in several other rooms. But otherwise, it is fine for what it is, a basic hotel for a relatively cheap price if you aren't expecting much. The water pressure in the shower was good!

The hotel is right in the heart of everything fun in Amsterdam. The free breakfast in the morning is very good. The hotel employees are friendly and very helpful. Great stay in Amsterdam.

Fantastic location, right in the heart of Amsterdam but on a quiet enough street to ensure a great night's sleep. Service was great, we were welcome to leave our bags under their watchful eyes so that we could spend our last day in Holland unfttered. The only thing that could have made it better would have been tea & coffee facilities in the room & maybe a small fridge. I'd definitely stay again.

I will definitely stay here again. It is literally a 2-minute walk from the train station. The staff was excellent, although they need to change their breakfast accounting system (you need to pick up a chip at the front desk first). The RLD is a few feet away if that's what you're here for. This is a basic 3-star hotel; I honestly don't know if high maintenance travelers would like it because I'm not high maintenance.

Awesome and funny staff. Will grab you off the floor smilingly when you're going too far with what Amsterdam has too offer. Ask for Natalie!

The Hotel staff during the day were helpful getting me checked in etc. The first room I had was on the ground floor right next to the breakfast room, it was extremely noisy. I asked if I could move to the first floor which was arranged. When I got to the new room, less noise but no curtains, I found them in another part of the room and put them up myself. The bar sells the most expensive beer in Amsterdam, the price changed a couple of times and I was also short changed on more than one occasion. The night staff (they have to unlock the door to let you in) were always unfriendly, unhelpful and once quite aggressive. This is not the first time I have stayed in the Hotel Luxer Amsterdam, but it is the last.

We stay very badly. The bed was not a double-bed but two beds joined, spite our explicit request by mail (I cancelled another reservation just for this reason): it was very inconvenient. The lamp was behind our heads and there are no place to put the pillow. The bed was loud Also the sheets are two single bed sets, folded each others and the first night they were really dirthy. Then they was not changed for four days. The room and the bathroom were very small. Surroundings were inside the "red zone" and not near that as specified in the website.

I have stayed here twice now. Both times have been great. The location cannot be beaten if you want to be close to the centre.

Giudizio finale: positivo.

The luxer hotel is fantastic for the young and middle aged. Although it is located on ae extremely busy street which is full of cafe bars (and we all know what that means), the hotel itself is very quiet. The staff were lovely, they were always helpful and chatty when you went through reception. Given the party I travelled with, my 22 yr old nephew (full of devilment and wanted to explore everything Amsterdam has to offer), myself a 36 year old going on 16, and my partner a 50 year old banker, the Hotel Luxer Amsterdam managed to suit all of our needs. Thank you for a truly remarkable stay. I was reluctant to recommend this hotel as next time we visit, we hope it is not fully booked. NB Pricing I only gave as a "average" due to the fact that nothing in Amsterdam comes cheap because of the strength of the Euro. The hotel itself is one of the best value in Amsterdam especially when you get a late deal from this site.

A very nice place to stay and would definately recommend it and go again ourselves. Only one little complaint... the air con system is very noisy at night even when switched off so getting to sleep was a challenge! Everything else... excellent!!

Hotel is in a good location close to red light area, only can be a bit noisey at night as a lot of pubs + clubs about.

Well situated for arriving at Central Station. Very friendly staff. There is a lift to the other floors thus no steep staircase to climb. Room fairly basic with no tea/coffe making facility.Room/Toilet/shower room was very clean and the shower had good water power. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. Overall we had a pleasant stay at the Luxer Hotel.
