My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at The Hotel Lo Jolla! They are doing a major renovation and the new room design is very classy. The bed and pillows were simply wonderful and the staff was available when ever needed. We also enjoyed the location as it is just a few blocks from the beach, a very enjoyable walk for us. (There are construction workers around but they were always very considerate) We would definitely stay there again.

The remodeled room was contemporary and clean. Massive construction, broken air conditioning, traffic noise. This hotel will be very nice when the remodel is complete but it is no place to stay until the remodel is done. We were on the 9th floor and had no AC we were able to open our sliding glass door but then had traffic noise. When we arrived in our room the lock on the sliding glass door was broken and I had to ask housekeeping to clean the construction dust off the glass door so we could see out. The coffee maker was missing and when I asked for a one they brought the coffee pot with no coffee. They wanted to send construction workers into our room to fix the AC while we were out for the day we felt that was a security problem. The manager did credit one of our three nights stay but it really was not the relaxing weekend we had hoped for.

lack of a business centre/internet access for those without their own laptops is a big downer. Staff v helpful. A v good hotel though a bit over priced for what you get.

This hotel was NOT within walking distance of the ocean or of the part of La Jolla where all the restaurants and shops are. The "free shuttle service" was rarely available - I had told them i had early meetings, at the last minute they said the driver was going to be late. The rooms look like they have the same amenities as the 1970s or 1980s. Tiny bathroom. No conditioner, just a cheap shampoo. The "ocean view" was really not much of a view, given that the hotel is 2 miles from the coast. The neighborhood does not feel very safe, the hotel is right next to a highway and gas station. Ignore the pool. It was disgusting and small. The staff was very rude, not helpful, and unwilling to do anything to make our stay better. If you are staying in La Jolla, pay the extra money to stay in the Grande Colonial or other hotels in the area near the sound, etc, where you can easily walk to many restaurants, shops, beach areas. If we hadn't pre-paid for this hotel, we would have gone elsewhere. It was absolutely disgusting.

Staff is rude and condescending. not at all helpful and would not give us a room we wanted, even though one was available. 20 charge for every little thing. put a damper on our whole trip!

I booked a room at Hotel La Jolla for the night of my birthday (May 16th, which was a Saturday night) and overall, I was really happy with my choice. The hotel was under construction and didn't look so appealing when we first walked in, which freaked me out a little, but once I got into my room I was in heaven. The rooms are gorgeous (we got one with an ocean view...SO worth the extra money!) and have just been redone. The room had a giant, fluffy bed, a flatscreen TV, a marble bathroom, a fridge, free internet, and the most gorgeous ocean view you could have ever asked for. I seriously could have been happy never leaving the room. We did, though, and we went upstairs to the oceanview bar for a great happy hour, which they have everyday. We ordered room service for breakfast on Sunday morning, and for $40 we got an amazing breakfast for two (I HIGHLY recommend the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict...one of the most delicious breakfasts I've ever had!) Here are my cons with the hotel: The hotel isn't within walking distance of downtown La Jolla, but the hotel usually has a shuttle which will take you down there for free. I was disappointed because the front desk said that the shuttle wasn't running and that it had been out of commission for awhile, but I had called a week earlier and they told me that they had shuttle service. If you're planning on using the shuttle service, I would call and make absolutely certain that there will be a shuttle working! The only other disappointing part was the pool and hot tub area. The hotel has both, but they aren't anything special. I'm hoping this area gets renovated by the next time I stay at the hotel, which I do plan on doing in the future.

Location. Poorest customer service by a hotel manager I have ever seen; no effort to resolve a terrible problem. We stayed for two nights at Hotel La Jolla at the Shores hotel, February 10th and 11th, 2009. We have been traveling on business to Southern California regularly for about 10 years. We wanted to try a new area in the San Diego vicinity. We checked into this hotel late on 2/10/09 after working all day and into the evening. After entering the room, we immediately requested a room change to a quieter room. There was a noisy, rattling heater in room. Sent a maintenance man to fix it. He did the best he could to make it quieter, but it was still noisy. Without any previous notice or warning, construction involving heavy power tools and drills and banging began at about 7:00 am the next morning. This was a huge problem, not only because we are not early risers, but because I need to do work from my hotel and need to contact clients. Sleep past 7:00 am was impossible. And accomplishing any necessary work from my room was also impossible, due to the constant drills, saws, and other power tools being used on both sides of us on the 9th floor. After working in the hotel lobby, then doing work out of my car all day, we again returned late to the hotel the evening of 2/11/09. I noticed the workmen around the lobby and apparently still working after 8:00 pm at night. Then, the heavy construction, pounding, and power too

When I arrived it turned out that the reservation was entered incorrectly. The hotel had already on their own accord upgraded my room, and when they found out about the error in room reservations, corrected it immediately. They offered a free shuttle to the surrounding area, which would could take any time. They were courteous and helpful. Clay's restaurant is excellent. The only negative was that they are in the middle of renovations. Even though it was happening directly next door, it was never at a time that bothered me. The renovation crew was polite and friendly. The housekeeping staff was also very helpful and friendly. Overall it was a great experience. I would just recommend waiting until renovations are done if that would bother you.

Very nice hotel and close to La Jolla shores. Staff was nice and extremely helpful in providing directions and setting up dinner reservations. Our room was a good size and overlooked the ocean. Reasonably priced and clean, we'd definitely come back again!

We booked this hotel 2 months in advance for Memorial Day weekend for 2 nights. Upon check-in, we were informed that we had been moved to the Sheraton, "just up the road", due to the fact that the hotel overbooked. "Just up the road" turned out to be next to the highway, not anywhere near the beach. The Hotel La Jolla staff did not compensate us in any way, did not explain how such an error could be made and were just plain rude and unhelpful. They never informed us of any overbooking until we actually arrived at the hotel after a 6 hour flight! Never EVER attempt to stay at this hotel - also, the construction is not anywhere near done, the place is a mess.

This hotel will not mezmorize you with it's quality, but it will with it's affordable price, location and view. Try to make sure that you get a room as high up as possible because the view is gorgeous. I would highly recommned this hotel to anyone who is on a budget. This has to be one of the best values in all of San Diego. The restaurant on the top floor is incredible as well.

We stayed at the Hotel La Jolla for a wedding that was on the other side of La Jolla. There was a big group who attened the wedding that stayed there. The hotel provided us with free transportation to and from the wedding. They where great and the staff couldn't of been any more helpful. They were very friendly and helpful. The wedding was at 3pm same time as check-in but they let us get our room an hour early. We had a great view of the ocean from our balcony. The rooms we very nice and very comfortable. We did not eat there but we have been to Clay's on the top floor before for happy hour which is really a great place to have a couple drinks a few appatizers and watch the sunset. We are diffently going to stay there again. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to a nice relaxing getaway. There are so many great places to eat and shop within a mile of the hotel, plus beautiful beaches (La Jolla Shores is within walking distance).

Bed was comfortable. Had to pay $15 per day to park in lot. It was ok. Looked old, too much for parking, not within walking distance of the town. Bit pricey I think.

The hotel charges 10 a day parking fee. This was not listed on the web page. The parking garage in La Jolla only charges 5 per day. I felt this was a rip.

The Hotel La Jolla at the Shores is a beautiful hotel with great service. We arrived at the hotel late at night and to our surprise the staff at check-in had everything ready for us. She checked us in quickly and with a smile. The room was lovely with very comfortable beds. In the morning we enjoyed our coffee on the balcony. What a treat! The room was clean and well decorated. The hotel was in the middle of renovating some of the rooms but no work was started until late morning so we were able to enjoy a quiet morning on the balcony. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Hotel La Jolla next time we are in the area.

Very nice, excellent facilities, beautiful setting. I was moved to the Hyatt in San Diego, I did not stay in La Jolla. I was very pleased with the hotel that I was moved to. I really wanted to stay in San Diego so it worked to my advantage. I would definately stay in this hotel again. I requested to be at the beach and I was at one of the marianas which was wonderful. Thank you very much.

The hotel itself is easy to get to and conveniently located. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. They have a pool which was heated and the exercise room was nice. It was within walking distance from the beach, kayaking, surfing, scuba diving stores, side walk cafes, restaurants and coffee shops. I have stayed here several times and will continue to come back.

The room was fine. Hotel is under construction & it charges $15/day for parking (unreasonable). Great location, close to quaint shops/restaurants and the beach. Unfortunately it is under construction which results in noise/dust & closed facilities. Staff are ok - did not go out of their way to be friendly or helpful. Parking at $15/day appears to be a money-grab!
