We stayed at the Iona for a long weekend and the hotel was superb for our needs. The room we had was very clean and the breakfast each morning was very good. If we wanted an evening meal we just had to ask and it was prepared for us whatever time we wanted it. I must also mention Chip their little Jack Russell he was an absolute delight and if you go there he loves to have his ears stroked. There is a Conservative club just around the corner from the Iona if you want to have an evening out.

Great Hotel, i came with my husband for a long weekend. Very impressive Victorina building first of all, and then we were greeted by the lovely owners who took us to our room and helped us with everything we needed. The room was very large with high ceilings and ceiling to floor windows and VERY CLEAN, and a nice white bathroom. I was so impressed with the hotel we are going back for a week in the summer

Very impressed by Hotel Iona, clean, large and value for money in relaxing surroundingsVery impressed with this hotel, first you drive up a steep drive way surrounded by palm trees and plants bedded in a rockery to a stunning white Victorian building which was lit up well as we arrived at night and it was great to be able to park are car on the hotel grounds. We were greeted by the owner and his friendly little dog who showed us are room and when we came down to the bar for drinks he even made us something to eat as we were delayed on the motor way, nothing was too much trouble and the owner even told us about places to visit while we were there. Are room was very big with huge windows over looking the town, we had a very large bed and a very nice bathroom with a bath which was immaculate and clean and was stocked with everything you would need, from a hairdryer to an Ironing board and mini fridge etc. The breakfast was very nice and we sat in the glass conservatory which was surrounded by a small privet garden with green plats every where and a pond, which you can sit out in the summer. The beach was only five minuets walk away, via the main road or through the beautiful park which the owner also told us about. We had a lovely stay here, it was clean, quite and value for money, and we will be coming back.

A very friendly welcome. The room (suite) was very convenient for a family, having 2 separate bedrooms, and the childrens' room could sleep three if needed. Plenty of parking. Well situated; an easy walk to the seafront / harbour.

This hotel is nice and friendly, excellent value for money and includes full 2/3 course breakfast, its very clean, well furnished, and brilliant for families, we stayed very late Oct/Nov and the heating was very sufficient and the room was lovely and warm, we only needed to take our clothes as everything is included, iron + board, toilet rolls, tea coffee even soap and shampoo...you don't need to pack any extras!!!We will definitely book this hotel again and have already recommended it to everyone we know.

I was very surprised that the rating of this hotel was only a 2 star. It should have been at least a 3 star maybe even a 4.The standards were very good. Room and its furnishings were to a high standard. And the bathroom had just been updated to a really good standard too.Enjoyed my stay!

Very welcoming and friendly, especially to the children aged 10 and 12, family room which is 2 rooms interlinking was a godsend both with their own tv. Only downside was sink was in our room, but each room had their own door to the toilet.

The owners of Iona were very friendly, welcoming and helpful at all times and we felt confident that, in the unlikely event of any problems, we'd be well looked after. We would not hesitate to stay there again, since our comfort and enjoyment seemed to be a high priority for them.Lovely, clean and tastefully decorated rooms. Nice and quiet too...Slept very well! Iona is in a great location for exploring locally, as well as further afield and after the excellent breakfasts (with a good range of choices too), we were well set-up for the day.In summary, a great hotel, not so big as to feel impersonal and great value for money too. Thanks to all at Iona!

This hotel is family run and they are a tremendously welcoming and friendly husband and wife. They were very helpful, slways smiling and put us at ease. The breakfast was good, and the location not too bad. I chose this hotel as it was gay-friendly and certainly felt comfortable there.

The Hotel, alhough a two star was excellent value for money, very very clean, friendly family run business. I would rate it a 3 star. I would for sure stay there again. The only down side was that the wonderful breakfast was served between 8:30 and 9:30 so we were forced to wake up early.
Date of Stay:

Very acceptable as a bed and breakfast, but there are no other facilities (lounge, pool, games room, etc) available. Although in moderate walking distance to harbour/town areas may be too far out for people with limited mobility.Overall good quality clean room in very good order, good food/service and good value for money for this standard of hotel.

Quite an uphill walk from the sea front, and hotel drive is very steep. We would have appreciated a lift inside as room was 3 flights up.
