HORRIBLE! I just spent 4 nights at the Bel Aire and let me warn you. The pictures you see on the website are fake. The lobby has 3 little card tables and thats it, there is NEVER anyone at the front desk and the pool is a funky color green/brown! The room was tidy but the carpets were so dirty, the sheets dirty, the towels dirty and no matter what they never dried, everything in the room was damp. Probably the worst thing in the room was that when you showered the water didn't not go down at all so you end up bathing in your own sandy water. It's a cheap hotel for sure...so don't expent anything...cuz thats what you get!

Well I made the mistake of booking this hotel before I read the reviews. ALot of people mentioned about how old the hotel was, and how it smelled. That is true, but this aspect wasnt such a huge problem for me, considering when u vacation to Miami, you barely are in your room anyway. The good and the only thing about this hotel is that you are in the middle of everything, but there are other hotels you can get that have the same luzury of this. The thing that made me upset was that I pick this hotel based on it having a fitness center. This is a total lie. They had an old treadmill and bike from the 1970's, and they had one machine for weights that didnt work and it was old too. Aslo they mentioned that they had free internet, but they had one computer, and it had a virus on the computer. Also the toilet wasnt dirty, but it looked liked a toilet from a gas station. I was scared to sit my on it, and the shower look old. But overall it isnt a bad place to stay if u are looking for something cheap to stay in, but my problem is that the advertising misleads u. This place needs to upgrade from the 80's to the new millenuim.

If you do a lot of travel and you are used to staying in brand name hotels then this is not the place for you. I read a lot of mixed reviews, but I decided to try it out. If you are looking for something off the beaten path and in South Beach then the hotel is a great location and a really good price. Walking distance to the beach and Ocean Drive, Esplanda Way and Lincoln Walk. Across the street is a great diner open 24 hours. The morning crew is great and the food is classic diner fare. As for the hotel it is adequate. It is historic, so it's old and a bit run down. Disregard any pictures from the site. Follow the tips about the parking and bring your own towels. They only provide bath towels, no hand towels or wash cloths. The air conditioner worked, the bed was comfortable, the hair dryer was sufficient. I was pleasantly surprised by the shower, good hot water and great water pressure, one of the best showers I've had in a hotel in a long time. The staff was just ok, not the friendliest, but I got what I needed. Do not try and check in any earlier than 3pm. They will not let you into a room. Overall the experience was just fine. I might stay there again, but if I go back I would be more inclined to try out another hotel in the art deco district, just for another experience.

Lobby. Dirty rugs, closet smell like dead rat, sheets were dirty and not enough towels. I would never stay here again. Staff was horrible, I couldn't get but 1 towel from the desk. I had to send my boyfriend to get some more. The rug is so nasty you can catch something on your feet if you don't wear shoes. The sheets had some sort of bug on it.

My friends and I were not expecting a 5 star hotel by no means!!! but this hotel need to be reported to the Miami Health Dept.... Some of the electrical sockets did not work, so my friends and I had to take turns charging our phones. Another traveler wrote about the towels and the complaint was so true! They were small, worn, and raggedy. Worst of all, we had roaches in our first room!!!!! When I called downstairs to complain, we did not get an apology of any kind they just switched our rooms to one that was worse! The shower did not drain so we all took showers in standing water which was very disgusting because everything that was in the drain previously would come up. The complaints of the mildew smell was also true. They kept the hotel lobby and hallways really cold I guess to keep the mold from growing. Our room was so moist that the clothes we hung in the closet were somewhat wet when we packed to leave. I would not reccommend this hotel even if you are not high maintenace and not looking for luxury.

We were 4 females going to Miami for the weekend. we reserved a room with 2 double beds to share. I called the hotel the night before to comfirm our 2 double bed room for four and the women I spoke with said everything was set. We checked in around midight to the nightshift desk clerk. With attitude and no appology he stated he didn't have our room and that we would be given a room with a king size bed and put a rollaway bed in the room for the four of us. After expressing our irritation especially with the fact that we comfirmed the room the night before, he said "you can only comfirm you have a reservation, the room doesn't get comfirmed until you get here" I have never heard of that. We went out and came back with no rollaway bed. When asked he said "I couldn't find one". When we got angry he accused us of not being accomodating to him. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around?! He finally said he would go to the laundry and make up a rollaway to bring to us. What happened to none being available!! On Saturday our tiolet broke and we were informed that maintenance left for the day and nothing could be done about it. so we had to move rooms. When we checked in I was told we had to leave a deposit for "incidentals" if there were none the deposit would be returned. during checkout the same lazy and nasty night desk clerk slides a petty cash receipt in front of me and tells me to sign it. There's a charge for the room safe whether you use it or not, and no we weren't told.

It was a 2 star hotel not impressed. Dirty rugs in the rooms, needs upgrade. The South Belair Hotel was convient because it is right in the middle of the other avenues. However, the lobby of the hotel was the only descent appearance. The rooms and the bathrooms need major upgrades with some paint and new rugs and new TOWELS, makes a big difference.

This hotel is perfect example how not to run a business in this recession when customer satisfaction and being competitive are more important than ever before. The hotel room was not clean at all, someone spilled coke over the iron , the towels were worn and dirty and the bathroom walls were covered with hair which was disgusting. We spend only 2 days there and had to move to another hotel in the middle of our stay. I made 2 requests for the towells and the iron and surprusingly was told by the lady at the front desk that she has NOTHING to do but to write another request about the iron and that there are only 3 clean towells in the whole hotel 2 of wich she gave us the day before. When I told her that I am not happy with the service she offered me instantly to check me out. She did not even TRY to do sth. This place must be closed as soon as possible. Do not go there unless you want to experience the same problems like me. Also, online travel website is wrong by giving them 2.5 stars. This hotel does not deserve even half a star rating. 0 quality, 0 serice, 0 friendliness.

Nothing. Rooms were dirty and in need of remodeling. Some fresh paint on the wall wouldn't hurt either. Good location, but dirty and depressing.

We found the rooms in this hotel to be unacceptable. This was the worst room we have ever stayed in. The room had an aweful smell/odor to it. There was dirt on the walls and shelves in the closet. The carpet seemed to have never been cleaned since the hotel was built in the 60's. The bathroom was the same one since the 60's as well. The tub was not clean. The extra latch and catch on the door was missing. The towels were pitiful. I guess you could say that we would never, ever stay in this hotel again. Unhappy travelers, USA

Location-close to restaurants, groceries, beach, shopping, etc. Cab was always waiting outside the door. In-room safe and refrigerator. Small rooms, filthy carpet in the room. Noisy on the weekend. The room was small but adequate for our needs. There was no problem with our requests for two beds, in-room safe and a refrigerator which was free. We liked the location being close to the action of South Beach and, since we were there on business, being close to the Convention Center. Staff was friendly and responsive to our requests. Carpet in the room was filthy.

Great place if you are planning on spending time in south beach. I was able to walk everywhere from the hotel. It is old but the rooms were recently redone. The bathrooms were a still little outdated. Not bad for a hotel with history.. The tv was fuzzy. Keep in mind most dont go to south beach to sit in the room and watch tv though. I'm sure tv wasnt an option when originally built too. The bed was just right, as well as the new furnishings, very modern. The room had everthing you could need (safe iron, ironing board, desk, dresser, phone...). Even a walk in closet. The staff was A+. Parking is just a block away. Use the garage on 12th and Washington, behind the police station. I paid $20.00 for 24 hours. It has real security as well. The hotel was 2 blocks from the ocean, 3 blocks from Mango's..... The only real problem was the towles. I wouldnt dry my car with theirs. So if you can, bring your own...

Location. Old, very old, andneeds to be updated. It was cheap and close to the action. I will never return to Miami and will for sure never return to this hotel. It's not for me.

We stayed here August 2008 during Tropical Storm Fay. I can attest that the rooms arent' the cleanest (very old carpet), and getting clean towels upon request is quite a hassle. However I just booked another stay. Listen, this place couldn't be in a better location and be more reasonably priced. It is one of few hotels with a pool, and it's pretty nice. In a recession I am totally disgusted that South Florida refuses to reduce its hotel prices yet they want to ask Washington for a helping hand. Forget about it! For the "Pink Traveller": This place is right across the street from Twist. SERIOUSLY! You'll never come home alone. Nuff said!
