Great Hotel and staff. We went to the Astro's game. The hotel had first come first serve complimentary shuttle. The Voice Restaurant has marvelous food. The hotel is old and does smell that way, but a really great place to stay. Be aware of valet parking expense($27/night).

The ambiance, the excellent service, the bathroom was amazing and water pressure in the shower was powerful.

The hotel was in a great location, which was one of the primary factors affecting the decision to stay there. It was very expensive to valet park the car overnight, there was no pool, and items in the hotel were overly expensive.

Excellent staff. No vending for guests. Had to use in room coke thing. Only problem was lack of vending for guests and the bar closed a bit too early.

Absolutely flawless service, excellent stay. I love the beautiful building and exquisitely decorated rooms. For $100 a night, WAY better than the bargain places!

The Icon was a historic bank building located in the center of everything on Main Street in downtown Houston. The rooms were luxurious, beautifully appointed in keeping with the era in which it was built. The beds were wonderfully comfortable, the shower was modern and pleasant, and our overall experience was just so nice.

This is a lovely hotel has been beautifully restored and tastefully decorated. They did a wonderful job of highlighting the architectural details of this very old building while providing all of the modern amenities you'd expect from a luxury hotel. Definitely opt for the "King" rooms as the standard rooms are much smaller and only have full-sized (not queen-size) beds. When we book the room, the information on Orbitz incorrectly stated a queen-size bed. However, when I called Orbitz customer service, they informed me that the info was provided by the hotel. So, the Orbitz rep contacted the hotel and the hotel manager did not hesitate to upgrade us to a king room and noted that the information would be corrected swiftly. Well-handled by both Orbitz and the hotel.

The service at this hotel is top-notch. I felt instantly at home here, thanks to the very friendly and obliging staff. Staff members who were busy with other tasks went out of their way to greet me when I arrived. The room was clean and comfortable, and the housekeepers were pleasant and amiable. There were only three minor things wrong with the room, which I had to search out: the windows were a bit smudged, some of the wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom, and although the website led me to believe that the clock radio had a CD player, it did not (but who even carries CDs anymore?) I didn't even bring these up to staff because they were such minor problems, although I feel convinced that given the low weekend occupancy and the way they've mastered accueil, I'd have been moved to another room immediately. Another small oversight is that there is nowhere convenient to hang your wet towel after the shower, save for over the toilet, and you really wouldn't want to be dripped on while you do your business. The pluses: I've already described the great service. The valet is very prompt and good with directions. The restaurant, Voice, is fantastic. The decor, the music, and most importantly, the food, made the dinner I shared one of the most thrilling meals I've had in ages. If you stay here I insist you try the mushroom cappuccino soup. And black peppercorn ice cream? Can you imagine?! The rooms are very comfortable; you have your choice of firm or soft pillows ready so you don't have to call down and make a special request. The minibar is well-stocked, if you enjoy drinking alone in your room, and the drawer and closet space is adequate. Don't be shy of booking a room with only a shower. This isn't a shower head hanging over the toilet. This is not just a shower, it's a retreat, a room unto itself. You'll love the shower, trust me. It's location on the light rail comes in handy if you're a tourist, although if you've got your car and are taking advantage of the valet p

It was very eclectic. The room needed new paint. Valet parking was expensive. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The complementary shuttle service came in very handy when traveling to downtown events.

We went to Houston for a Baseball game. Very close and easy to get from Minute Maid Park. We really enjoyed ourselves there! It was very unique! The bed was sooo wonderful, we got a great nights rest! We had a garden tub and a walk in shower both worked great! Room service was great! All the staff was very friendly, and helpful! Cant say enough good things!

For the price, it was awesome. This is a cool hotel in a fun part of Houston. Also, its only 15 min from the Galleria area. The movie we rented kept skipping and lost audio so many times we just turned it off. The hotel was great. Very cool bar and restaurant, parking was expensive ($27) but cheap compared to other cities. The room was really great and the shower was awesome. We'll be back.

I love the older buildings that have been converted in to hotels. This one surely delivers. Great downtown location, beautiful rooms and lobby, just a great place to relax. I'll be staying there again for sure.

I really liked the staff and their willingness to help and be of service. I have asthma and the dust in my room had me breathing heavy the entire night. Not clean. I was not impressed with The Icon at all. While the bathroom was huge the shower floor was not so clean and the room was dusty. I have a very sensitive allergy to dust and my asthma was triggered staying in that room. The lighting was horrible. On the way there we passed it several times because the signs are not clear. I stayed in a Comfort Suite the night before and wished I had not moved. However, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and if you want to be in the heart of Houston, this is the place to stay. It just didn't live up to its reputation for me.
