Use premier inn if possibleThis hotel seems to be of the 'budget' design ethos yet falls short of what I would call budget prices. Rooms are really too small, bathroom in particular felt very claustrophobic. Only provided with 1 pillow per guest, had to request additional. On the plus side the bed was comfortable despite a thin matress.

Rooms are miniscule. No A/C, windows barely open, and walls thin. I'd rate this as somewhere between a youth hostel and Motel -- but nice staff.

Value for money in a central locationOnly for a major problem with the shower drain which I experienced in my room the hotel and room was quite adequate and very clean.

BasicI was advised not to book it and if I had paid full price I would have been Fed Up!as it was £69.00 not £150 It was exceptable. Bed was Uncomfortable , The Room ClosterfobicVery hot no Air flow. I have had far better nights for £50.00 in a travel lodge

Wouldn't stay againI stayed due to business. The bed was incredibly hard and obviously had not had the mattress turned ever...considering i could lie in a groove made by previous stays. The shower leaked and only had one temperature....hot, despite many efforts in getting it to turn cold. The secure carpark was reduced in size due to poor placing of building materials and skips so had to park my car on the street. Will definitely not recommending this hotel to anyone!!!!

Great for business or short stays but too basic for a holidayWe visited the hotel midweek in late May for a course at the university. The hotel was easy to find, parking was limited but staff were helpful in allowing parking outside bays if you didn't block anyone in but I'd recommend getting there early. Spar and student shops available nearby. Reception and bar area clean and tidy but quite basic - it reminded me of travels in Eastern Europe. Access to the upper floors is by room key only. Rooms are perfectly adequate but a masterclass in how to squeeze everything in to a limited area. Shower only and the loo is in a tiny corner - I wouldn't like to be a large person trying to get in. Shower soap in dispenser and a bar of soap are all the toiletries provided. All in all absolutely fine for one night when we weren't planning on staying in and I would stay here again but I wouldn't like to stay for a week or for a treat.

Great ValueI think this is a great budget hotel in the middle of Portsmouth, just 5 minutes away from Gun Wharf and Old Porsmouth and the central area. Easy to get to via either train station or by car. Service is efficient and the rooms are good quality. Highly recommended.

A little goes a long wayVery helpful staff - especially at 03:00 when you're tired & hungry!

UnderwhelmingBasic, but clean room. However, there was no hairdryer and no bin in the bedroom (only in the bathroom).I had a burger in the restuarant which was fairly disappointing. It didn't look or taste as though it had been made freshly on the premises, rather it seemed to be a pre-prepared burger. The hotel is situated opposite a nightclub. The noise coming from the smoking garden of this club was very loud, and kept me awake until the early hours of the morning.Overall, a fairly underwhelming hotel, that provides basic, clean accomodation at an affordable price. If it weren't for the noise from across the road, I would have given it a higher rating.

ComfortVery poor mattress, being on a solid base (would be terrible for couples!) Otherwise good...staff very helpfull....good location; handy to shops, theatre and train station.

Ibis - somewhere to sleep but not much moreThis hotel is clean and tidy and the staff are friendly too. The standard double is compact to say the least so if you just need somewhere to sleep then it's the place for you. Bearing in mind, I still think £65 is a lot of money for sleeping! Breakfast was extra so I didn't bother. I'm not paying £5.50 for a continental.

I was given a smoking room on the first night and the smell gave me a head ache, and I could not sleep. They told me it was that the hotel was full. The second night was better as they changed my room.I guess you get what you pay for.

Typical IbisBasic room, internet is extra as is breakfast which was disappointing - tinned fruit, cerals, cold meats and awful coffee. If it isn't included in your deal, don't be tempted by it. But for no frills and one night is perfectly fine. Very noisy outside as near the main student area, and inside as full of younger people on a night out.

Good quality hotelVery practical hotel, rooms very functional and wide corridors that made manoeuvering with suitcase easy.

The first room I was given had rubbish on the floors and the bed linen was filthy, obviousley it had not been cleaned even though I booked in at 2000hrs. The next room was fine

fine but arrive early for parkingHotel was fine, clean, staff polite but didn't eat dinner or breakfast. However arrive early if you want to park. I arrived at 9pm and was lucky enough to get the last posible parking space (which wasn't really a proper parking space).
