NOt what it says in the websiteyou show a room worth betwen 300 and 600 pounds. the pictures show alovely room, you then discount to bring in customers. that when they arrive, to be given a box room so small you can touch the ewalls on both sides with small movement side to side, the bed nearly touched both wall from head to toe. So I was sold a pig on the poke. not what was advertised and very disapointing. the bar closed early and the whole place is claustrophobic. Very poor show. only redeeming feature is so close to the main attractions

The hotel was very clean. We had a 2 person double room which was plenty big enough. It was walking distance to many attractions, including Las Rambla, Palau de la Musica Catalana, Casa Batllo, and La Predrera. Very metro accessible as it is extremely near Catalunya Plaza. This hotel is so centrally located you have the option of walking many places or taking the metro, whichever you prefer. Easy access from the Airport on Aerobus for less than 5 Euros. Buses leave every 10 minutes. Free internet access also available. I thought it was a very nice 3 star hotel! Would stay their again!!

The hotel is located close to the Place Catalunya giving access to the major sights in Barcelona and convenient for the bus to the airport and other public tranport. The accommodation is basic but clean.

We were only there for the one night. Location was great, close to the bus stops where we could hop on & hop off whenever we chose, & saw all of Barcelona. Got in early 11:00 am & our room was ready,rooms are small but clean,very friendly & helpfull staff. For the price it was a very good deal.

great location, but a bit expensive for such a small room... however clean and well maintained the service is OK but there is no flexibility on check out time or anything else ...

Gran Ducat's Fifth Floor rooms have lovely terraces that allow for al fresco dining with food purchased at the grocery store in the basement of the department store at \playa Catalunya. Starbucks right next door. Patisserie acros the spuare with best chocolate croissants ever. Metro station just up the street. \las Ramblas across the square. Aeroport bus drops you off at the top of the street. The Tourist Bureau is there as well. Fab Location.[...] a great front desk man.

An excellent location for this hotel with easy links to Metro stations, the Ramblas and the port/beach area. Numerous bars, eateries and shops nearby (Cafe Zurich does excellent sangria!).Staff were friendly and courteous throughout what was a very pleasant stay. Rooms were functional and clean and represented good all round value for money. We would recommend the grand Ducat for independent travellers on a budget.

Weekend break accomodationHaving stayed in Barcelona on numerous occasions, I found this hotel room extremely small and very very basic.Definately not worth the money paid to say it was a last minute booking. Will stay at Cristal Palace or Caledonian on ur next visit as they were both spacious and well equipped.Only good thing about it was the location. But there are better hotels within a 5 minute walk (see above).

Location was perfect. Breakfast buffet was very good and staff was generally friendly. WIFI computer was very good and assessable. Able to check in early which was a great help for us. Nice lounge area. Lobby was a bit small. My wife was unable to get into the bath tub because there was nothing to hold on to, therefore unable to use during our 4 night stay. She had to towel wash.

Kinda small room and very heated upon arrival (in the last days of April) - got better the next day, when the heating in the floor was turned down. Perfect location, and if you don't intend to stay in the room for the whole day, the size is acceptable.

Excellent location, everything is very accessible by foot and at night there is really the sense of security as its quite a busy location. Our room was facing the main road so it was very noisy in the morning with the traffic noise (ambulances with sirens and the underground were a particular nuisance). If you planned on staying here and are a light sleeper i would suggest that you request a room to the rear - there may be no view but the sleep would be worth it. On the whole a good place to stay.

Easy access to Hotel from Airport by bus that costs $4euro. No cab needed. Walking distance to most of Barcelona. Bus and Metro stop right there. Mall with Grocery store across the street. Convenience store down the street on left has the best chocolate croissants ever! We had a small room and asked for a different room. We went to lunch and came back and had room #506. It is normal size for Americans, and has a balcony. Most other rooms are European small sized. Most of the staff was friendly. Ask for Roberto or Fernando. Must see Mt. Monserrat and Mt. Tibidabo you won't regret it!

pros: EXCELLENT LOCATION! 1/2 block from Placa Catayluna(top of Las Ramblas) within walking distance of major attractions; metro stop: aeroport bus stop; hop on hop off bus;tourist information office; supermarket(Ingles) similar to Wal-Mart in US. English speaking friendly, helpful staff; Clean hotel; comfortable beds; Free computer center; Wi-Fi; breakfast (11 euros) other options within same block. Free roomsafe. complimentary water in lobby a nice plus when you return from exploring Barcelona. cons: Hotel is noisy @ night because people stay up all night & are very loud returning to their rooms. there is no carpet throughout hotel thus sound travels. metro runs under the hotel during the day but stops running around 1pm. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again for it's location & helpful, friendly staff.

Hotel was nice, in a great location, central and convenient to transport etc. Room was VERY SMALL, although double room, only one chair. Very little space to move around in the room.

The best aspect about the Hotel Gran Ducat was the location. Other than that, the hotel's rooms were extremely small and cramped. The hotel seemed in need of repair and upkeep. The first room we stayed in only fit the bed, was next to a very loud elevator and the air conidtioning unit did not work. They did transfer us to a slightly larger room away from the elevator, although the noise in the hallway was still loud.

For a relatively low priced stay, this was a good base - very central on the doorstep of Place Catalunya. Not a luxury hotel by any means but it met our needs on this occasion. Would stay again. Prefer rooms with double bed rather than two joined upsingles. Very clean.

I was impressed with the energy efficiency and small details of the hotel. The lights and music only come on in the corridors when you trip the motion sensors. Also, you don't get power in your room until you insert the room key. The bathroom was nice, clean and the room was very cute with a little flat screen TV, armoire and pretty silk curtains.
