The name Giamperduto probably derives from Ciommo perduto (border stone removed) and testifies the old dispute between the local people of Bernalda and the monks of the Benedictine abbey of Montescaglioso. What transport is available to get around?: To get around the city of Bernalda we have city-bikes for our guests, otherwise they should rent a car or reach the Ionian coast of Metaponto by bus (only 12 km away and about 15 minutes' travel).
