This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff was so rude and disrespectful it was sad considering the price of the room. The room was tiny and the bathroom was a joke. A child may have been comfortable but not grown adults. I would not wish this hotel on my worst enemy. The air broke, the elevator needed work..I can go on but you get the idea I hope.

Our room was the worst! It was next to the employee entrance and the door slammed all hours during the night. The staff workroom and housekeeping rooms were across the hall. It was impossible to sleep. I was told by the hotel that because we booked through Orbitz, we were given a "certain type of room" -- in other words one of the bad ones! You need to cancel your deal with the Galvez. It was a terrible experience. Our room was not ready at check-in, which was 4 p.m. We had to wait an additional hour to get in our room. Very bad!

The employees were stuck up especially if you were not upper class people.

The Hotel Galvez was the perfect get-away for our first child free vacation in 12 years. The hotel pool was beautiful. Room service was yummy and prompt. The portions were so large we ended up splitting each meal instead of ordering two. Poolside service was terrific as well; and the swim up bar was divine. Even though there were plenty of kids in the hotel, we never heard one of them in our corner room. The beach was a short walk across the street and we enjoyed being able to access the pool from the sidewalk, with our room key, rather than walk through the lobby. A quick rinse in the poolside shower and we were set to enjoy the pool for the next couple of hours. We had plans to eplore the island more but the beach and the pool and were so wonderful, as was our room, we never strayed far from the hotel.

I liked that the pool had late hours and was walking distance to the beach and checkout time was noon.

For the price of $170.00 the room did not even have a CHAIR to sit in!!! If you wanted to sit down you had to sit on bed! Made it where you couldn't even order room serve to eat, NO WHERE TO SIT TO EAT!!! Not even a table, just bed and TV, not even a desk!!

Friendliness, clean, great location, pool area fun! Need to upgrade to HD Flat screen TV's. We had a great experience at the Hotel Galvez and would recommend this hotel to all even if you have small children. The hotel pool was big enough for all and the bar in the pool was their if you wanted a drink. The hotel friendliness from the door maan to the front desk to the housekeeper was a delight.

Everything at the Galvez hotel was as great as the last time. We will come back the next time we need a one to two day getaway. There are many things to do if you look for them and not just go to the Strand or the beach. We did both, but also drove all the way down to the end of the island and came back a different way then I45. It was fun and we looked at a condo which might be a thought for a summer home.

The breakfast chef was talkative while most competent told stories and cooked! Would have preferred help getting in with our luggage not enough staff then. Overall ambiance of the older traditional hotel atmosphere was thrilling, and made you feel a part of history as well as the comfort of the rooms, staff, and food except for the initial lack of attention getting in and up to our room!

This hotel is very good four star hotel. It has a great lobby, lobby bar, and restaurant. The pool facility is the best in the market. The location is excellent for guests wanting to be close to the beach. The hotel provides good parking options. The front desk staff did a great job checking us in and out.

Secure parking and easy to find. Room was next to service elevator. Hotel and staff were awsome. We really enjoyed our stay. We still can't believe that we were able to afford a 5 star hotel for the price.

Although I paid extra for a room with a view, I received a room with half of the sea and half of the rooms on the right;a spotlight aimed at our window so at night we had no view of the ocean just blinding light. No pool.. No spa..........Room service didn't pick up our breakfast order...............I called at 8:00 and they did bring it about 8:35..........lukewarm $8.00 pot of coffee and lukewarm oatmeal.............Compliants at the desk didn't get me any type of refund or something !!

The Galvez was a smart, historic setting. Great Pool and wet bar. Quite crowded but still nice atmosphere. Friendly pool staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable but a bit claustrophobic compared to most other hotels we have stayed in. Close to Downtown and historic streets, but also close to poorer parts of town with big contrast. We would stay again but try and get a suite at reduced cost.

Pool and beach front location were excellent. Room was cramped, dirty, musty, and needed updating. Bedding was old. Flat pillows. We were very happy to have a beach front location with an excellent pool. The lobby was classy, but above the first floor was old and musty. Hallways and rooms seemed cramped. The view was of part of the lower roof which I ca only describe as disgusting. The bathroom was the smallest I have ever seen as well as dirty. the ceilings were very low, the bedding and pillows worn out. The hotel staff was not very nice or helpful. I much preferred staying at the sister hotel and having access to the pool facilities of this hotel. We will never stay here again, as a matter of fact we could not wait to check out, We felt like we needed to rush home and take a long hot shower.

The view of the Gulf as well as the hotel was beautiful. The hotel's decor reminded me of the Clark Gable days. We only had to cross the street to be the Gulf. The folks in Galveston are very friendly.
