What fire?Arrived to find the hotel had no booking for us although we had booked through late rooms! Once this was overcome excellent accomodation really enjoyed the stay . The only issue was a fire alarm activated at 08.45 am resulting in us being evacuated in to the car park for 40 minutes not the best lay in ever!!! Really nice hotel if you don't get evacuated!

roger and shonaFor a boutique hotel not a good experience. Our room was at the back of the hotel and we were woken up by the nearby bottlebank being emptied @ 6am.The male member of the front of house team at the time of our visit was offhand and bordering on rude. However the female receptionist was lovely and gave us a great recommendation for an evening meal (Italian) Finally the breakfast was not great !

Quality hotel in excellent location with good views. Spacious room & bathroom but bathroom toiletries missing body lotion. When we asked reception for some we were told "we are cutting back"!! BUT they did send up two bottles!!

Stay,it's greatA really good place to relax and unwind, central location just across the road from Betty's. Nice touch with Dvd player & CD player in room plus great towels and bath robes and an excellent shower. The wine bar was great, but I didn't try the Bistro

My only vaguely negative comment would be that being fairly small and female it was a little awkward opening the heavy entrance door and manouvering a suitcase through it. No one came to my assistance, mainly because nobody seemed tasked to keep an eye on the arrival of guests with luggage.

Lovely hotel, just a couple of minor things, the shower head was broken away from the wall and the 'grouting' around the bath was very dirty / mouldyIt also had by far the most expensive mini-bar we have ever seen ( and we have just returned from a tour of Venice, Vienna and Paris !!!!)

We had a basement room under reception. There was continuous noise all night-we believe some decorating was undertaken! On complaining we do not feel staff dealt with it appropriately and there was no warning of the possible excessive , continuous noise.

Young restaurant and bar staff mostly spoke with very heavy foreign accents, so were difficult to communicate with.Room was VERY hot, could do with some air conditioning.English breakfast was poor (no black pudding!) and therefore expensive for what it was.

My wife and I stayed on a Friday night. It was very busy in the restaurant but there were no problems. The food was very good and they have a very good wine list.We were going back on Saturday and the hotel let us leave our car in their car park until 1400hrs.So we spent a little more time shopping.Well worth it.

Any room other than on ground floor was not 100% suitable for disabled/low mobility. Two steps up from the lift with no handrail.

This has to be the worst hotel experience I have ever had. There was limited parking at the hotel so on arrival it was necessary yo park in a public bay and pay.The room was situated in the basement of the hotel and accessed from the street outside. From a security perspectice as a woman staying there alone this meant that the bedroom door was accessible from the street and left me feeling very vulnerable. On being shown my room there was no offer of help with my luggage. It was raining and I was left to deal with this alone.I did not eat in the hotel that evening but returned at 10.15pm. There was a bar/brasserie immediately above my room and the noise of both conversation and people walking on the wooden floor prevented me from sleeping. At 12.30am I called reception to find out what time the bar closed but was informed that it was open all night for residents. The noise finally died down at 2.30am.The area above the room is also used for breakfast so the noise started very early as preparation for breakfast began.I requested a move to another room but was told that the hotel was fully booked. I curtailed my stay and checked out. There was no apology from the hotel and I was informed that your website made it clear that there would be some noise. Whilst the noise is mentioned as being a slight possibility this is mislesding - it is too noisy to sleep!

This is a lovely hotel. Centrally located and opposite the Stray it is perfectly situated for any length of stay in Harrogate. The rooms are comfortable, well proportioned and subtely decorated in the Hotel's signature style of modest elegance. There was nothing modest about the food in the Hotel's Bistro. It was simply superb. The service was impeccable and attentive. My only very small axe to grind was the cost of breakfast. We had booked a room only rate and would have had to pay £9.50 for continental or £11.50 for a full English. Which, whilst a failry average price for a hotel breakfast, felt like alot to pay. We went to a cafe round the corner instead!

Arrived late and left early, due to work commitments, room was good with an excellent bed. Staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast was good although a little overpriced. A minor gripe in an otherwise pleasant if limited stay.
