We enjoyed our stay and would book again at Hotel Derek. Maybe not a city view next time because of the traffic noise at night. Staff was great, food was great, location was great!

Service was excellent. Service was great, location was good for Galleria area and the set I was working on.

We really enjoyed this hotel, we had great rooms, and had a great experience....free internet was a plus for the teens in the group.........valet was quick and friendly.......front desk very helpful with resturant suggestions.........minibars were fabulous.......room decor was sleek and modern, very comfortable....had a couch the length of the wall with windows wall to wall, very nice touch, especially for my crew who loved to look out......no problems at all here, check in and out was quick AND ACCURATE.

Hotel Derek offers a great location. Other than that, the designers showed a good effort turning a dated building with small rooms into something that on first look appears modern. Unfortunately it is still visible in plenty of spots, especially in the bathroom, that the rooms just got a makeover and were not rebuilt. The staff is relatively friendly, but the strive to appear sophisticated actually makes the whole atmosphere in the hotel snobbish and arrogant. Valet parking is mandatory. Upon return of my car, I noticed ball-pen stains on my white leather steering wheel, they promised a check for compensation, but never sent it. All in all a hotel that's only worth the money buying the room with one of the discounters.

I forgot a new cd drive that I bought in best buy and when I call they did'nt find it, and I am poitive that I left it, I cold not come back to the hotel because I was going to loose mi flight, but housekeeping told me that they did not find it, and is a lie

Close to home, shopping, eating and entertainment. The front desk clerk was arrogant. The beds were small and uncomfortable.

We stayed there and got a great package deal. BUT, we didn't know we were being charge 20 per day (as guests!) just to park our rental car. We were told because we were miles from the Galleria we had to pay for this service. We had a rude awakening after the bill arrived. OUCH!

It was clean and friendly employees. The pool was closed and the parking fees were outrageous.

We primarily choose our hotels for the room quality. Hotel Derek's rooms are incredibly small. The bathrooms barely afford you the ability to turn around. The decor is comprised of silver, brown and acrylic, with a bed barely inches off the ground. It is made complete with a nice touch of rope light which drape the shelves---and the television showing fake flames in the lobby fireplace---nice touch. The inability to park your own car and be forced to pay plus tips and taxes per day was an unwelcome surprise. You get a much better deal for your money at the Omni or the Hilton Post Oak.

The hotel is well situated if you want to spend lots of money at the Galleria. It is comfortable and well decorated in a contemporary style whcih should offend nobody but food is expensive and service apart from front desk slow. Front desk staff are efficient. Fine for a couple of nights on business

Staff was friendly and helpful. They will drive you to nearby shopping and dining. The room was spacious, clean and in perfect working order. Internet is complimentary.

Location. Smelled bad; noisy; room had some dirty areas; the pool was tiny and in the dark. I would not stay at this hotel again.

Was a regular guest but no longer. Musicians & celebrities bring friends & terrorize the rest of us trying to sleep. Yelling in halls, etc. One tried to force his way in my room! Staff & security are useless & this rapper's entourage was more important! Got no sleep for 2 nights! Never again!

Very nice and clean hotel. Beds are comfortable and hotel dinining is execellent. Walls are a bit thin but quiet enough at night. I slept like a baby!

"The view from our room was fantastic, the beds were very comfortable, the staff was friendly, and best of all - I was only a couple minutes from everywhere I wanted to be. That NEVER happens in Houston! It was a great place to stay."

I will start with the negatives. If the rooms matched up with the lobby it would have been great. However as with most of these makeover hotels the room itself remains a poorly disguised holiday inn and an old one at that. The hotel is very noisy from the traffic on the interstate to the guests it attracts ( I was there from Friday to Monday). The pillows are hard as rocks and between the road noise and that it makes it very hard to get a good nights sleep. The pluses are the price and location. It is a bargain hotel and its proximity to Houston shopping is great.
