We stayed there and got a great package deal. BUT, we didn't know we were being charge 20 per day (as guests!) just to park our rental car. We were told because we were miles from the Galleria we had to pay for this service. We had a rude awakening after the bill arrived. OUCH!

The Hotel Derek was a real deal. I was greeted by a friendly staff, and was wisked up to my room without delay. The room was very modern and clean, as well as spacious. The bathroom was very adequite, with a full vanity counter, with sink and mirrors. I would recommend the Hotel Derek Houston to any business person, as well as to any famity traveler. The location of the hotel is very central to a very large shopping mall, and is accessable to Loop I-610.

We really enjoyed the Hotel Derek Houston, we had great rooms, and had a great experience....free internet was a plus for the teens in the group.........valet was quick and friendly.......front desk very helpful with resturant suggestions.........minibars were fabulous.......room decor was sleek and modern, very comfortable....had a couch the length of the wall with windows wall to wall, very nice touch, especially for my crew who loved to look out......no problems at all here, check in and out was quick AND ACCURATE.

No room in hotel has windows that open, hence AC for 3 nights was tough. Hotel staff is not 100% on service oriented. Nice rooms.

We primarily choose our hotels for the room quality. Hotel Derek's rooms are incredibly small. The bathrooms barely afford you the ability to turn around. The decor is comprised of silver, brown and acrylic, with a bed barely inches off the ground. It is made complete with a nice touch of rope light which drape the shelves---and the television showing fake flames in the lobby fireplace---nice touch. The inability to park your own car and be forced to pay plus tips and taxes per day was an unwelcome surprise. You get a much better deal for your money at the Omni or the Hilton Post Oak.

We found this location to be very convenient for a weekend visit. We were able to get many places quickly and easily, and many stores, resturants, sites and restuarants were not far away, we did not have to always get on the highway system. The Bed was comfy with the big down comforter. Only 2 DVD players available for the whole hotel, and we did not get one when we requested one upon check-in. Staff very friendly always, minus one front desk person--he needs to be in a position that does not require conversation. Would stay again.

Was a regular guest but no longer. Musicians & celebrities bring friends & terrorize the rest of us trying to sleep. Yelling in halls, etc. One tried to force his way in my room! Staff & security are useless & this rapper's entourage was more important! Got no sleep for 2 nights! Never again!

Staff was courteous and helpful. Seating area all along the window was good. Touch lamps and dimmers were good. One thing which needs to be checked is that water used to drain too slowly.

The hotel is well situated if you want to spend lots of money at the Galleria. It is comfortable and well decorated in a contemporary style whcih should offend nobody but food is expensive and service apart from front desk slow. Front desk staff are efficient. Fine for a couple of nights on business

The Hotel Derek was a very pretty hotel, but the room was just okay. I expected a nicer hotel room. Great location! The best thing I liked about the hotel was the service. Excellent, excellent service!!! The staff at the hotel was very friendly & accomodated all our needs. Overall, I would recommend the Hotel Derek Houston to friends and family.

The hotel was nothing like I imagined. It began with parking options, there was only one valet, which would be fine, but I was in and out of the hotel constantly and that became a pain. My room was designed nicely, but there was a hole in the drop ceiling in the shower- on my last night my smoke alarm began to go off at 3 am. The hotel offered nothing to help you stay (without a hefty price tag, the razors were $6) If it wasn't for the staff, mainly security, I would have demanded some sort of compensation (other things happened valet couldn't find my car, and I missed an appt and I never got a sorry) I would not stay there again, but would like to thank night security for saving my night!

"Compared to the ad on the enternet, the hotel did not live up to my expectations. I requested several services, and the times were changed frequently, the maid did not do a good job cleaning the rooms. Being located next to the freeway does not help too. The room were poorly constructed. Blankets were soiled, sofa was stained."

I loved the design of the Hotel Derek Houston from the moment you enter the building until you reach the room. Great location as well.

We celebrated our 6 year anniversary while staying at the Hotel Derek. The entire staff was great and the hotel was a nice change of pace from your typical franchise hotel. The cafe/bar was great and moderately priced. We will definately be back!

The valet parking was extremely poor. The rooms appeared out dated, and the bathroom was small. There were stains on the carpet and furniture. The location is conveniently close to the freeway and within walking distance of the mall. I felt that this was the hotels best asset. My expectations for the Hotel Derek Houston were pretty high, but unfortunately were not lived up to.
