Hotel DeVille

The DeVille Hotel was conceived as an oasis of tranquility in the centre of the bustling banking district of the city of Panama .

Its whole concept takes you back to a genteel era of quiet elegance, reminiscent of the late 19th century, full of French flavor in its decor, reminding you of the initial Canal efforts undertaken by heroic and aristocratic French engineers. That original idea of its founders, led by Olmedo Miranda Jr. and Architect Virgilio Sosa was turned into a beautiful boutique hotel ,built in the late 20th century and which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of operations. Much attention was paid to detail, with prints and paintings depicting the early canal works.

Furniture was imported from a former French colony, in order to provide the authentic French flavor then sought and now so appreciated by guests, who really enjoy its classical comfort.

Although everybody nowadays uses the words personalized service find this to be a most abused expression and consider that in many cases people only pay lip service to this concept. However, in the De Ville, which because of its small, cozy and comfortable size does not have a gym personalized service is taken to whole new levels, where you can ask for your bicycle or Nordic track machine to be set up in the privacy and comfort of your own over-sized room .

In spite of its elegance though, the Hotel does not give a stuffy impression, service is very friendly but not overbearing, more informal, like you are family rather than a guest, making you feel more like staying in another home away from home. A grand hotel is obviously not complete without a great restaurant, where, although it is a concession supervised by the Spanish-Panamanian team of Josefa Doval and Tony Nunez, serving an informal Mediterranean Fusion Cuisine.
