Hotel great, but very expensive. Tea, coffee in room service 8 Euro, breakfast 32 euro each. With exchange rate at moment this becomes very expensive

Nice hotel but need something more...

Internal decor of the common spaces. Hotel staff recommended using an expensive private taxi instead of public transportation, even though the public transportation is easy. The hotel decor is amazingly beautiful. The staff is very courteous and mostly helpful (although they do not actively seek to help, but only respond to questions - I was not explained about hotel facilities when I arrived, and had to discover them by myself by asking). when I called prior to arriving I got contradicting information from different staff members. Hotel staff recommended using the much more expensive private taxi rather than public transportation, even though public water bus was as easy to use.

This hotel needs to modernise its service facilities. The front desk is in a tiny corner of the lobby and the beleaguered staff, while making valiant efforts to cope with the sheer volume of guests, are just too few to manage. When we checked in, bags were piled all around the entrance and it was a fifteen minute wait in line just to get to the desk. Personalised service under such circumstances is impossible. When we finally checked in, we got to the room only to find it wasn't ready. We took a long walk but when we came back 45 minutes later it still wasn't ready. There was a sour smell coming up from the drain in the bathroom that never went away. We had an amazing view of the lagoon which sort of made up for the initial bad experience and the terrace restaurant had a delicious -- although very expensive -- breakfast buffet. All in all, however, this hotel disappointed. It's a shame because it wouldn't take much to hire more staff and provide them with facilities to serve clients better.

Staff was nice. Not even close to a Five Star hotel quality It is old (as most of Venice) and the rooms and bathrooms are small; the hotel is in need of upgrades in the guest rooms.

Absolutely magnificent. The staff actually left a hand and foot in the room in case we needed anything. I suppose there may be nicer places to stay, but I've never even seen a photo of such a place. The Danieli is a 14th century palace with an impressive history. The location is perfect - directly in front of a waterbus stop, about a 3 minute walk from San Marco's Square, and right on the lagoon. The hotel did not adequately accomodate a third guest (a child), but we were still very comfortable. If the city weren't so fantastic, it'd be very difficult to leave this hotel.

This is supposed to be a Starwood Luxury Property and I think it's 5 star rating should be re-eavaluated. Our room had stains on the furniture & carpet and the walls were in dire need of paint. The hotel staff was aloof and unhelpful until we threated to leave...........I would not recommend this hotel to any traveler who wants a 4 or 5 star hotel!
