Description:
Nestled high in the Rocky Mountains is the extraordinary hotel. This national historic landmark is the home to the original teddy bear. Gift to teddy Roosevelt, from the maids, after an unsuccessful bear hunting. This type of personal service still rings true and is echoed throughout the hotel. Modeled after the renaissance castle Villa de Medici, this magnificent hotel has been recently restored to its 19th century Victorian glory. Stroll through the fabulous floral gardens in the summer and when the snow falls experience world class skiing, or just curl up in front of a grand fireplace.

The hotel was very nice for a National Historic Landmark, you can spend hours walking the halls. Very good location, right by everything we wanted to do, the hot springs pool, vapor caves and great dining options to suit everyones tastes.

I stayed at the Hotel Colorado in February. I love this hotel. Check in was great and very helpful. I really enjoyed our room and the architecture of the hotel. We even had a sales manager show us the Molly Brown Suite. Everyone was very nice and the room was extremely clean. We had a great view of the snowy courtyard. The food in the restaurant was excellent. I will definitely be back. There are many things to do near the hotel.

The beds were comfy but the noise from the drinkers on the patio kept us awake until 12 am. Since there's no air conditioning you can't shut the windows. Holes in the blankets. Big luxurious bathroom just redone. Staff was very nice except for the bar. 2 Bartenders and 5 people- we waited ten minutes and we were not acknowledged so we left. It's charming and funky but for the overpriced rate- it would have been better if we'd had some sleep.

Hotel Colorado had a great staff and fantastic location. The rooms were quiet and check in and check out were a breese. The food service was outstanding.

This is a beautiful historic hotel that has comfortable rooms and for it's location it is surprisingly quiet and has a laid-back feel.

This Hotel was very comfortable. If you are looking for a lace to sleep at night, this is really good.

If you like staying in historic hotels you will like this. I try to stay in historic hotels at least once. I should have checkd but there was not blow dryer, iron, or coffe in the room. The Sunday breakfast was disappointing, expensive buffet but nothing cooked to order for $15 a person. They said they were short wait staff so I don't know what it would be usually. The front desk personnel was helpful if not friendly. Nice little coffe shop in the hotel. The grounds are pretty and a nice big porch. A little noisy due to the age of the building but great decor. It is close to things in town so you can walk which is nice. I'm glad we stayed there once but would try another historic hotel in town or a B & B.

The room accommodations were very nice. The hotel has no airconditioning but doesn't really need it with cool nights, great ventilation and ceiling fans. Dining is elegant and the food is excellent. A strong sense of history can be found throughout the hotel.

If you want to be close to the pools, the location is great. There is no air conditioning, since it was built in 1893, and the wiring is a bit outdated. Every time we ran the hair dryer, the electricity in the room went out. Considering we didn't stay in the room much, it was a bit pricey, but wanted to have a good weekend with the girls.

The Colorado Hotel is a beautiful building with an excellant location. I knew before I came that ceiling fans are the only form of cooling in the hotel. If you need AC, do not come here. My room suffered from a lack of attention to maintenance and detail. The room was large enough but cheap furniture was crowded into one small section of the room. (One chair was not even accessible). I had a very uncomfortable mattress (either old, cheap or both)The wall to wall carpeting was dingy and pulled away from the walls in places, creating rolls in the carpeting. The bathroom had no vanity for toiletries, but only a small glass shelf above the pedestal sink. The staff on site during my stay barely spoke or understood English. I asked to speak with the Concierge and was connected to the gift shop. Overall, I was very disappointed in what could have been a very pleasant experience. Too bad that the current owners don't have enough respect for the hotel's past to take it's well worn interiors into the future at least polished and well-cared for.

Okay- Do NOT stay here in summer. there is no AC. I have stayed here before (2x's) and would stay again... but not in summer. On labor day weekend, the room was sooo over 80 degree's on the 3rd flloor. The hotel was nice enough to send up a box fan- which did nothing but blow the hot air around. I understand that this an historical hotel- but oh my gosh- over 80 degrees. With that, the rezy was for 2 nights. I called the hotel at midnight. on the first night, and said "I am outta here"...and went to the Best Western down the street. I am waiting to see how the travel agency bills me for this.

Very old historic hotel. Great location in Glenwood Springs. Walk to pool and brewery. We have stayed there many times and will continue to do so!

FULL OF HISTORY! LOVE the lobby! Desk, van and gift shop staff, plus for the piano player extra smiles and kindness!. NOT so safe for children when it comes to the windows, the screens are loose(NO air conditioning but that works because of windows open with ceiling fans and old fashion door vent..) We were on the thrid floor with one 4YO and twins who are 23months old,the Rooms need to be better kept, not as clean as years past and same Q-tip on floor in bath between visiable pipes upon arriving as leaving. Location walking distance to shopping and pool, fantastic We moved beds close to gether for twins and mom and found under clothing from previous visitor! ! carpet was stained and dirty as was the chairs.Bedding and towels were clean. We want to stay again but not sure if we will?We go yearly. I do hope the upkeep and housekeeping can and will improve!

The Hotel Colorado was a beautiful victorian hotel and it had a lot of history behind it. The suite that we had was very nice. The biggest draw back with this hotel is that it does not have air conditioning. It does have ceiling fans and they will provide a floor fan upon request. This is a great hotel for the cooler part of the year and not the summer. It is right across the street from the hot springs pool which is very nice. They have a wonderful outdoor restaurant which is perfect in the evenings with the water fountain in the background. The workout room is more for hard core free weight people and not for the more modern workout. They have historical pictures hanging all over the hotel that is quite interesting.

Mixed reaction to the hotel. There is no air conditioning which I found out too late to re-book for trip. The hotel staff was not friendly. The only thing they did accommodate me was to allow early check in as I needed to get ready for a wedding. I was there for a very short one night, but was grateful to not have to stay for an extended period. The staff was not helpful to other guests either. When asked for directions or questions, they did not really know or provide any help. The hotel is old and historic, with some updating of rooms.

The Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs, dating from the 1890s, still carries the feelings of those times. Beautifully decorated with antiques it is airy and quaint, while being modern enough for any type of visitor.

Make sure when you use your credit card they are only placing a $* hold..The hotel placed a $* hold instead of the $* stated which resulted in over draft fees. The hotel has no air conditioner and the staff was not helpful. I would not stay there again and suggest you check it out before you do.

It was nice to stay in a historical landmark. The bath in the room was very spacious and updated. The hotel is very pet-friendly and our two dogs and us felt very welcomed by the staff. There was a large walk-in closet for clothing. The restaurants had good food, somewhat on the expensive side, room service was quick to provide late night snack and there was a beautiful court yard for dining in the evening. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay again.
