Internet at the hotel is not free, and the wireless signals up to the rooms didn't work well one of the nights. I complained about this and asked for a refund for the money I had given them that night to use the internet and they refused. The rooms are fine, but the sheets/beds, etc aren't nearly as nice as they looked in the photos.

I stayed at Colon for two nights in February. The front desk was extremely friendly. They gave us key before the check-in time. The room was tiny, but the breakfast choices were excellent. However after returning home, we discovered that our credit card was charged a week after our departure. The reservation was made and paid through online travel website . I didn't use the phone and I didn't use the bar. In fact, the bar was locked all the time. On check-out I was told that there were no extra charges. I sent two emails to the hotel asking for the reason of the extra charge ? they remained unanswered. I asked online travel website for help to explain the charges ? they were told it was the bar charged. I remember moving a bottle of water from the top of the desk to the lower shelf ? but I didn?t open the bottle.

We found our room to be very small. There were three of us and we were placed in three tiny single beds in a row, much like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Front desk barely spoke any English. Breakfast was quite substantial. However, eggs and bacon were undercooked.

Our three person room was snug but comfortable. Clean room and bath. Best hotel breakfast we had in Argentina. Room air conditioner was a little weak in the mid-summer heat, but bearable. Good front desk service. Roof top pool small but refreshing after spending a day in the heat of the city.

Well if you are going to BA for a quick gateway, this is the place to go. It is literally in the middle of eveything. Its on the corner of La Valle st. and 9 de julio ave. The staff was SUPER friendly, and helped with anything that we needed. The only thing that wasnt mentioned is that there is in fact WIFI access in rooms. I was told that a continental breakfast, was included, but the breakfast was a FULL breakfast. It included, eggs, bacon, bread, all sorts of pastries, etc. All included. A+. .If your on a honeymoon, this is not a place for you. The location is FAST FAST FAST moving.

The Hotel Colon is in an excellent location right in the heart of the Microcentro area of Buenos Aires, within easy walking distance of major attractions, the Subte (subway system), shopping (Calle Florida), entertainment, and a wide choice of restaurants. The room and bathroom were rather small, but very clean and well maintained. Each room is equipend with its own safe. The air conditioning system worked very well in the room. The view from my 9th floor room was fantastic. My room overlooked the Avenida 9 de Julio with "postcard" views of the Obelisco and the Teatro Colon. The staff is very helpful and friendly. An excellent breakfast buffet is included with the rate. This is not just a continental breakfast. The buffet consists of eggs and other hot dishes, fresh fruit and juices, excellent pastries and breads, yogurt, cold cereals, deli meats and cheeses. The breakfast buffet easily filled me up so I was not hungry again until dinner, saving the cost of lunch. Room televisions carry a wide variety of channels, but they are all in Spanish except for a dubbed version of the news on the Deutsche Welle channel. This is a very minor issue as few people are going to be spending their time watching TV in their room. The hotel provides a complimentary copy of the English-language "Buenos Aires Herald" every morning. This lets you keep up on the news, and gives you something to read at breakfast. My only real criticism is the open vent in the bathroom that connects to a central ventilation system that at times allowed the smell of smoke from other rooms/floors to penetrate my room. Closing the bathroom door while in the room alleviated this. The Hotel Colon is an excellent value, and I recommend it highly.
