I had personally arranged with a live representative for 2 people. Upon arrival, we were strong-armed to pay additional fees for the 2nd person. The front desk was extremely unhelpful. Tons of mosquitoes. Free breakfast available to all guests was mediocre. Activities via an outside company was inconvenient.

As a long time traveler to this beautiful island since 1988, I was not thrilled by this hotel. Of the 3 bars, only one was open daily. Room service options were very limited. Only one restaurant and no 'quick food fare' available.Bed was uncomfortable. Stay on the ocean side..'island view' side is on a busy street with a boat repair lot across the street. Internet cafe was only open two days. There is no 'free' shuttle to the airport. You have to call a taxi

If you stay here they want you to leave your room key at the front desk everytime you leave. If you don't and you loose it, it will cost you $$$ I know we had ours stolen. It is not a key card but a regular key. They will only let you change beach towels 1 time so you end up with clean towels 2 X week! The breckfast is the same every day but overall pretty good. The front desk is very rude and get angry when you ask for help. The room is clean but nothing special. We were on the street side and it was very noisy plan on being up late at night and up early in the morning. The pool is cold and there is no water access to the ocean (all sea urchants and rocks). There are much better places to stay for a fraction of the cost. We have been to St. Maartin 3 times and will never stay on the French side again. Very expensive and very rude people. Love St. Martin Dutch side people are nice, prices are reasonable and island is small enough that we drive everyday to the French side if we want. Did not feel safe driving over to MAHO at night some pretty shaddy areas between. So if you want to gamble stay on the Dutch side. I recommend you stay over there anyway French people to not like Americans.

Stayed at a dozen different places on SXM, HBP is a very good choice if you want to stay outside of Orient Bay. It offers great views of the ocean, reasonable rates and allows you to walk to Marigot shopping. I choose it so I get to see the whole island - you can get to many of the best French-side beaches within 15 minutes. Yeah, TV only has 2 stations - but that's not the hotel's fault!? Great atrium, very nice staff.

I think the price we paid for a five night stay fell far short of the price we paid. We didn't even bother with dinner or lunch there, the drinks were blah and very expensive, ($4 American for a can of CLUB SODA?)the beach eroded away and a new one being built while we were there, the fitness room a tiny disgrace, NO separate keys for my husband and I, NO free wireless Internet ONE English channel --goddawful CNN talk TV, rock hard mattresses, a shallow and warm mini-fridge. Additionally, it was inconvenient to get to from the International Airport. The shuttle service was a BIG waste of money--they kept us cooling our heels and wasting sunshine both there and back. Once you're settled, you can take a minibus everywhere on the island for two bucks, which no one volunteered to us--we stumbled upon it. We discovered if you're going to go to St.Maartine, don't go to the French side in Marigot where this hotel is--stick to the Dutch side Philipsburg, --close to the airport and all services and water activities, cheaper, AWESOME frozen drinks on the boardwalk for five bucks AMERICAN, a kindly even exchange rate instead of converting to Euros in most places in Marigot, and friendlier folks in general. I must say there were things I liked about the place. First and foremost, if you're going to go to this hotel, spend the extra money on the ocean view--it was spectacular. The beach activity staff were a lovely couple, the rooms were kept very clean, there is a safe in the room. Don't rent a car--the traffic is horrendous, many drivers uninsured, and the roads pretty poor--NOT a place for amateurs. And as I said, the buses were cheap and easy to find in all the towns we visited. Fun and gentle snorkeling once the weather improved and we found an inexpensive hop on a boat out of Grand Case with (Octopus) Dive Shop?

The best thing about this hotel is its location---minutes away from downtown Marigot and Marigot's Port. However, if you are looking for resort that offers some entertainment this is not the place for you. I even paid a nominal charge to use the only pool table in the lobby, internet service work exteremly slow--when there is sevice, and during our entire stay no was present at the activity desk. I booked this hotel because it was one of the few in the area that offered breakfast in the room rate---What a mistake--the SAME breakfast was served everyday for 7 days.Stay here if location to great shopping is your vibe---otherwise stay elsewhere

Even when it is a little far from Downtown Phillisburg, I would stay again. Great staff.

Resort is at the midpoint between the Orient beach and the Maho nightclub area, both about a 15-20 minute ride away. To get to either (for those without a car), be prepared to spend 18-25 each way via taxi. Great View on the ocean side and only a two block walk to the Marigot restaurant area. All in all the room was clean and great except the shower which kept running out of hot water (but good water pressure unlike most resorts of this type). Resort is not close to a lot of activities but a good 3-star getaway.

The room was not well kept and was in need of some repair (painting). We had about 2 mins of warm water in the shower before it turned stone cold.

The good things about the hotel are that it was clean and it was walking distance to the marina that had exceptional dining and entertainment. The maid service occassionally changed the bed sheets. The pool's water was ice cold. There were no screens for the patio doors to keep the mosquitoes out. The 13"" TV with the hotel's cable service had only two English speaking channels - SciFi and USA. Pay extra for the ocean side view. The other side view is of an abandoned shipyard. Definitely, rent a car to take you off the property! Everything else was amazing!

Hotel Beach Plaza is an older hotel on the French side of the island. Older when it is compared to all the new construction that is seen on both side of the island. Our hotel room was quite large with a balcony facing the beautiful green mountains and the Marina Royale. We had plenty closet space and a very large bathroom. Our daily room charge included breakfast which included the best coffee and French bread that I had since I visited Quebec. The best ammenity is the location. You are within a 5 minute walking distance to the town of Marigot with its many markets, restaurants and the West Indies Mall, but the best restaurants are found around the Marina Royale, and I mean world class, award winning restaurants. I would return in a heart beat!

"This was an excellent stay at a clean hotel with a good beach. It had a veru satisfying European style continental breakfast, a good clean beach, spacious, clean rooms, all at a good rate. We were very pleased with our stay. We had a very satisfactory meal in town at the ""O' sole mia' italian restaurant overlooking the bay. Good food, excellent service, and a reasonable price."

"In addition to all required hotel amenities I look for a hotel with a pet policy which is FRIENDLY, ACCOMODATING AND VERY RECEPTIVE to my pet ""Harrie"", a feline. All the staff from the managere down was very friendly to Harrie, and spoke to her when with us or asked about her when whe was not. The pet friendly rating should be six smiles. "

Stay on the ocean side as road side rooms have really ugly views. Buffet breakfast is plentiful but average in quality.

"This modest hotel turned out to be perfect. We could walk to great restaurants, go into town and catch ferries to other islands with ease. It is a place for the traveler who is most concerned with the wonder of being in St. Martin, looking at the water and kicking back. The breakfast satisfied you until your sumptuous dinner at the many fabulous French restaurants within easy walking distance.
