I stayed at this hotel over July 4th holiday. The cleanliness of the bathroom was questionable at best. The floor had not been mopped and the tub needed to be cleaned also. This hotel boost having recent renovations but more are needed. All the mirrors needed to be replaced and the staff in general was not very pleasant. I travel to Chicago several times a year and I NOT stay at this hotel ever again.

The Hotel Allegro was the nicest, friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in! I was treated like a star from the moment I arrived and the doorman personally escorted me thru the door to the elevator and up to the Lobby! From there the staff continued w/great caring service, treating me as tho I was their only guest throughout my stay! The Concierge were wonderful with [...] being exceptional! If you have a problem and want results,Concierge [...] is the one to ask for! I had a problem w/a dining certificate and he went all out persistant in resolving the issue for me! The Hotel itsself is beautifully decorated w/a redcarpeted staircase that reminded me of an old movie scene you may have watched great stars decending. The room was a little small but very comfortable since there was just me.Very crisp and clean and inviting w/what I would call a mod style decor. The bed and pillows were sooooo comfortable! It made getting up almost hard! The hotel also offered a FREE unique treat in the lobby for guests twice a day! Popsicles for a few hours in the afternoon and a wine and cheese gathereing for a few hours in the evening where guests could hangout and mingle. All in all The Hotel Allegro in Chicago was a fantastic place to stay!

This was the second time I have stayed at this hotel it was fabulous. The entire experience was fantastic, the staff was very attentive to guest needs. The hotel is beautifully decorated, and the rooms are very comfortable. The concierge services were especially helpful.

Location is excellent, convenient walking distance to Lake front, surrounded by shopping & resturants. Decor is eclectic/chic, furnishings were contemporary, interesting mix, very clean. Our bathroom was very small, barely large enough for two people at one time, but functional,; electrical outlets were on the side of the desk, not on the walls-we had to call front desk to find out where they were. Staff were friendly, efficient, and quick to respond to needs. , Service was great, friendly, fast.

Excellent location. Rooms were exactly as advertised and the staff was very helpful. My only disappointment with the hotel was the towels and washcloths. Both were flimsy and cheaply made. All in all it was a decent stay and I would stay in the hotel again.

The decor was awesome. The hotel charged me $10 for WiFi access. The Hotel Allegro was beautiful and the staff was very friendly. The staff directed us to a great pizza place. The bed was unbelievable and it was very comfortable.

Overall, a good stay. This hotel is especially good for the price, but does not quite live up to its own image. This is a trendy, chic place that in some ways is more appearance than substance and seems to overlook some conveniences. While it is a charming, old building right in the middle of downtown (GREAT location), my room is a bit small and stuffy. The bathroom focuses more on designer, art deco fixtures than on convenience (with minimal counter space, a tiny sink, and a basic shower. Also, while there is soap, shampoo, etc., other BASIC things found in a 3-4 star room (e.g., mouthwash) are available upon request or for separate purchase. Despite these minor issues, the staff is helpful, the restaurant is pleasant, and I would stay again.

Great location for visiting with friends on both sides of the river. The hotel was charming and the staff a dream, but the carpet in the lobby and my room had a funky-foot-like odor. Had to buy an air-freshener.

The hotel is conveniently located to downtown attractions. Availability of queen beds in the rooms was quite small and therefore we had to share a bed.

The doorman & valet people are terrific. The lobby is a retro style & has a different, but fresh, clean, feel with many young professionals milling about during happy hour. Management offers free drinks for an hour each night for guests & it is very popular. We were greeted with a very snippy front desk agent until a very pleasant manager stepped in. The rooms are probably the smallest I've ever stayed in. They are nice, but there is NO extra space! And the bathroom....dear heaven! Don't sneeze, you'll smack your forehead on a wall. The best thing I can say is the restaurant "212" is outstanding! It's a don't miss. If you're a small party, do like we did, sit at the kitchen's bar & watch the action! The chef is amazing..they all are really & you might even get free tastes (we did).

The location was great near the L-train and walking distance to grant and millenium park. State street was just 5 minutes away which has a lot of stores THANKS

My son and I stayed at Hotel Allegro during a trip to Chicago to visit the museums. The hotel is lovely, and while the rooms may be small, compared to a chain hotel, they have alot of charm. The beds were extremely comfortable with down comforters and pillows. A laptop safe was provided for no charge for my son's computer. We had free internet wireless and never had trouble connecting. There was a bit of trouble with housekeeping being unresponsive, but the manager handled it quickly and to my satisfaction. I would definitely stay here again.

All together it wasn't bad. I stayed in the hotel very little so I didn't experienced much of it. I didn't, for example take place to the wine parties at 6.00 pm. It could have been nice.

The people at the front desk were extremely courteous. My room key didn't' work late at night and it wasn't demagnetized. A physical key was required to open the door.

Let me start by saying that I'm usually very easy to please when it comes to hotels. As long as it's clean, safe, and there aren't any unforeseen problems, I always leave happy. Having said that, words can't do justice to my dissatisfaction with this hotel, but let me try:1) I reserved a room for 6 nights. When I arrived to check in after a long flight, I was shocked to hear that my room had been given away.2) I was placed in a different room which was so incredibly noisy that I had to change rooms. I was put in a smoking room temporarily, and this was the smoking room to end all smoking rooms. I would've been better off sleeping in an ashtray.3) Upon hearing my dissatisfaction with the noisy room and sebsequent smoking room, the staff was not the least bit apologetic.4) MY CREDIT CARD WAS CHARGED OVER 11,000 BY THE HOTEL. This was ten times the rate, and it required a great deal of effort on my part to get the situation resolved.5) Upon hearing about the incorrect 11,000+ charge to my credit card, the staff, again, was not the least bit apologetic.6) The bath tubs in all three rooms were covered by a plastic shell (have you seen the commercials for Bath Fitters..."We're the perfect fit"?) which was too tight to touch the bottom of the original tub. This made it feel like I was balancing on a hammock while showering. I'm in my late 20's and in good shape, but I still found it incredibly difficult to balance on this surface. If I had been staying with an elderly person, I would've checked out immediately because of safety concerns. The only redeeming qualities were the location, the helpful concierge, and the free wine reception.

Nice happy hour. The hotel lobby was nice, rooms were attractive, staff was very friendly and courteous. The rooms were extremely noisy, I could hear people talking in the room next to me, above me and the doors in the hallway opening & closing.
